  1. Past hour
  2. Actually this bug is present on Vista, too. It's not "XP-only", like someone there tried to imply. Therefore, you're in the wrong right repository, Dave, you can edit the post and include Vista so they get out of your hair. They have no respect to the famous moderator!
  3. No, it was Thorium's creator who referred to this in the quoted reply.
  4. But then they'll keep making more Chromium exclusive web pages... Is it just me, or are there more and more sites that have the problem as exhibited on https://www.tomsguide.com/?
  5. Lucky you! I get that shift in EVERYTING newer than v86 that works in XP. Chromium ESR, CatsXP, Supermium, Thorium. They ALL do that shift on my system. So at least I guess they're all "consistent". Maybe they're all CLONING each other? waka waka waka
  6. Today
  7. I'm not actually seeing that effect. I don't know if that's what Alex is referring to. Good to see that Alex and Win32ss are apparently stealing from each other working together! I had pointed out to Alex that the DigitalSpy forum site displays perfectly natively in Supermium and 360Chrome. There should be a new Thorium XP build soon which hopefully will fix it.
  8. Hello everybody ! After hours of struggle and impossibility, I finally managed to get Firefox 125.0.2 working on Windows Vista! More information on my Lipton Acer YouTube channel for Firefox 125. I will be releasing a video about this soon.
  9. Installed also today on XP64. Sill waiting for a 64 working version for XP64.
  10. Speaking of Chase and always feeling like a dog "chasing" its own tail, I was recently "forced" to upgrade from XP to Win10 because my checking account could no longer be polyfilled or Proxomitron'd to "working" in XP. That was some time over a month but less than two months ago. I'm wondering if there was enough "backlash" because I just noticed today that my checking account is once again accessible in XP using 360Chrome! While that is good news, I admit that I am now a bit reluctant to return to XP - because that forced upgrade WILL happen again. Two months from now, two years from now, who knows when.
  11. This bug has fixed in 3.7.9 test build: https://startisback.com/StartAllBack_setup.exe
  12. Alex313031: "I have fixed GDI fonts being askew by rolling a newer version of Skia and then using a patch that win32ss created. " https://github.com/Alex313031/Thorium-Win/issues/210#issuecomment-2081336104
  13. Why? Unless their server serves .webp, then why would they care if your browser has that "so-called" security hole fixed or not. WepP is over-exaggerated, doesn't really "effect" folks anywhere near as much as the HYPE AND PROPAGANDA suggests.
  14. Here is the source for the 486 fun above Dietmar https://ufile.io/i3j8idk7
  15. Maybe it works for this too? Thank you very much! Setting dom.forms.button.standards_compliant to false did the trick. For the very first time, I was able to upload a test file from New Moon 28 to my main folder on Codeberg. I am really happy. Great find! Thanks again!
  16. Here is the working XP SP3 for 486 cpu. It also contains in an extra folder all the for 486 modded files. It is after install in TXT-Setup before first reboot. I tested it on an Amd 133 -p75 cpu. As CD I use my german VL xp.iso with XP SP3 Dietmar https://ufile.io/upxbmmse
  17. No idea, as you can see Disk 1 is missing in list. If exist on your machine, it will be probably something with that. Another important thing, I’m not programmer, just enthusiast. I needed tool like this so I managed it in a week with ChatGPT 4… Of course without programing knowledge it wont be possible. If you detect issue I can try to fix it, like I did with special characters replacement to display them correctly in CMD in systems older than 8.0. Source code is released, so you can always try to investigate. Feel free to fork, improve or fix and push request into main tree. Thats why we have source in public repository
  18. I am happy to say I got it to work finally!!!! I had to throw in some more settings that somebody sent me from a NTLite forum link, so I'm not sure which one of the settings below finally did the trick, but I thought I'd throw them in here in case somebody might need to use them some day. Once again: This is just for my own scripts and experiments, WinNTSetup itself was doing it correctly already (for which I'm giving HUUUGE thanks to JFX!!!) So here are the things I added: (All are EXTRA things on top of the stuff in JFX's code example) Software hive: ============== [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Real-Time Protection] "DisableBehaviorMonitoring"=dword:00000001 "DisableOnAccessProtection"=dword:00000001 "DisableScanOnRealtimeEnable"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender] "DisableRealtimeMonitoring"=dword:00000001 "DisableRoutinelyTakingAction"=dword:00000001 "DisableSpecialRunningModes"=dword:00000001 "ServiceKeepAlive"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Signature Updates] "ForceUpdateFromMU"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\SmartScreen] "ConfigureAppInstallControlEnabled"=dword:00000001 "ConfigureAppInstallControl"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Spynet] "DisableBlockAtFirstSeen"=dword:00000001 System hive: ============ [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\ControlSet001\Services\WdFilter] "Start"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\ControlSet001\Services\WdNisDrv] "Start"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\ControlSet001\Services\WdNisSvc] "Start"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\temp\ControlSet001\Services\WinDefend] "Start"=dword:00000004
  19. Moonchild mentioned a workaround - set dom.forms.button.standards_compliant to false on about:config page and restart the browser (page reload is not enough). Maybe it works for this too?

  21. @Cixert It is not difficult, to change from Standard PC to Acpi Multiprocessor via a Bios, that supports ACPI for XP. Your case is very different from this: After Bios update, your DSDT and SSDT tables have changed. Now, XP CANT boot any longer with acpi via them. From my experiments, mostly this goes to an "new" incompatible Graphik Mode. Your problem can be easy solved with the acpi patcher at boot time from @Mov AX, 0xDEAD. There you give them via modded ntldr always your old acpi tables, that you have fetched for example via RWEverthing in binary form. After this, your compi works like before, tricking out the new Bios Dietmar PS: Another way is just to go back to your old Bios. But this can be impossible, even with EEprom Bios chip writer.
  22. @Cixert Yes, I try also the 486-step3 hal.dll. Same reboot until now. @ProgramHacker With 256 MB cached ram and 160 MHZ, you can work with XP SP3 on a 486 cpu. It is still slow but enough for easy tasks. For me it is just fun as much as possible, to understand XP much better and how to speed it up Dietmar
  23. I ran XP on a 2 GHz Celeron machine back in the day and it was kinda mediocre.
  24. Does it still in 3.7.9 test build? https://startisback.com/StartAllBack_setup.exe
  25. I tried it on an emulated 486, and it is laggy as hell even though it sort of support 486. Also I tried it on Pentium OverDrive 486 83mhz and it's not a fun experience. (86box)
  26. Dark Magic causes right chick menu in Details section of Task Manager to turn white:
