  4. By default globally forced, can be made per-program only https://msfn.org/board/topic/186928-list-of-new-software-unlocked-by-second-system/#findComment-1281897
  5. That is too bad. I got one nice Haswell system around, I guess I keep it on pre Haswell or AMD platform. Second system is also in my list of products interested as it seems to be much more compatible than any other kernel at the time plus having vista support is nice. One question that I got from second system is that is it globally forced on after install or can I make off by default and only enabled if needed? That came to my mind since you mentioned some programs needing it to be disabled from them. Having it on for all would cause too much headache with system having lot of programs. I do have debit card but it got pretty much zero funds and it I blocked it usage on online shops. I use it to fill up car on self service stations mostly. I don't know about Poland but here electric money transfers are performed on billing or wire transfers. What I usually get is weird look when I ask can those be used for paying. I prefer not have anything funded automatically as it makes disputing chargers way harder.
  6. As of... about a month, or two, can't tell exact, NewMoon 28 is unable to login to AOL nor Yahoo (same parent company, same back/front systems). After input the password, nothing but a spinning circle on the submit button. Latest version/build, the same issue persists.
  7. So from what I've gathered posting links to paid software is allowed, though it can't be done in an advertising-like manner (and also not the first thing you post) As i mentioned the fact that the link was in the second line of text and that line had a bigger font, may have been interpreted as advertising, maybe I got a bit too excited initially due to this being the only current kernel extension that is for Windows Vista in particular. That being said I've been getting absolutely zero financial gains currently or in the past from any of @win32's products. Bot accusations here are immediately obviously ridiculous, I doubt that I should even take them seriously at all Therefore I may re add the link to the patreon, but put it under external links or something The link to patreon is btw not like a "buy" button and instead it just links to (afaik) the only other page which has any resources about the Second System. i.e. it's like a software product's website rather than donate or shop link. The is also a free 'sub' plan for reading news and no downloads. Surprisingly it is popular looking at the counter. This thread while being the main one on Second System, is still mainly a list of programs that it allows to launch
  8. Is 1.0.0.1 the lastest verson of CAupdater? By the way, I found some option of my qq.exe dosen't work, but it worked well on virtualmachine,I saw the defference: it has https link on virtualmachine,Is Certifacate the problem? and how can I test and fix it?
  9. Please see this reply from @astroskipper 9 posts up to my query about download location of CAupdater.
  10. Where download this driver ? Please upload.
  11. tried here on xp and 7 but I can't reproduce the crash. removing ID check means inappropriate extensions that can break browser hard can be installed. so I can't let this option available. if you are confident an extension that will work, open it up with archiver and modify its manifest adding my browser's ID instead.
  12. Sorry about my bad English, where can I dowload the lastest verson of CAupdater?
  13. NotHereToPlayGames The comment is not addressed to you, so don't interfere in someone else's conversation ! I am interested in the developer's response. Without such a fix, a lot of potential users will abandon such a browser at the very beginning. Considering that the main source of extensions for it is Classic Add-ons Archive. And only about 2-5% of WE (for basilisk) extensions from the mozilla site.
  14. "Does it fix random launch errors and programs crashing?" Pretty much, the System is now very much working rather than not, the improvement is very meaningful but it's not perfect: I've described my experiences here https://msfn.org/board/topic/186936-force-tsc-system-timer-on-vista/#findComment-1281946 "Is it meant to be used with other extensions or how?" It's standalone, it's just a very small patch to advapi32.dll "would like to know if it is worth it." If you are only interested in the patch and not Second System or RTX drivers - No and don't buy Haswell+ hardware with Vista in mind While the patch may indeed be fixing the source of crashes that was in advapi.dll, Vista still uses HPET which performs badly and is hardware-wise really bad on new Intel platforms: higher latency -> lower FPS, lower system responsiveness From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Precision_Event_Timer All of my testing is in this thread: I requested this TSC feature on @win32's patreon site but for now there's still no patch for it Another not so great news - the payment process on Patreon is really painful https://old.reddit.com/r/patreon/comments/1cl8vhv/is_there_any_way_to_use_a_prepaid_card_or_even_my/ (have not tried services mentioned in this thread) Of course only if you don't want to have an active payment source attached to patreon, if so your best bet would be to find a banking-like service that operates in your country and allows creating online easily trashable (but theoretically not temporary or prepaid) credit cards and pay with that or you can link that card to paypal. Transfer some money into paypal through one time payment methods perhaps Than start the patreon subscription with paypal as a payment method, it verifies you have an active credit card Than trash the credit card In the following months patreon won't verify if your card is active anymore And than you need to keep track of your fundings on paypal and either transfer money there regurarly (through one time payment methods) or cancel sub before paypal money run out
  15. Give an exa, mple of a good extension I can install in Supermium. I want to download YouTube with YouTube-DLP. It is very sluggish with New Moon that I use normally. The Open With preset has to be able to save various command-line parameters.

  17. There are also Chromium extensions to open "local files". So in short, you kind of need to tell us just what you are trying to open, instead of vague generality of "Open With".
  18. @roytam1 New Moon x86-32 v28.10.7a1 2025.10.16 XP palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20251018-d849524bd-uxp-861967f98e-xpmod I am getting random crashes on Windows XP only on forum.tuts4you.com website: AppName: palemoon.exe AppVer: 4.8.7.8956 ModName: xul.dll ModVer: 4.8.7.8956 Offset: 00c7460e Minidump. Thanks in advanced. Palemoon.zip
  19. There are Chromium extensions to send URLs to Edge and Firefox, among many other things (VLC Player, PDF Viewer, Google Docs, etc). So "yes and no"... You can send URLs, but maybe not thru "Open With".
  20. I don't think that any Chromium-based browsers have an equivalent to that function. However, if the browser can't open something natively, I would expect it to open in the program associated with it by Windows, if any.
  21. Update: Forticlient 5.4.1. with fortidrv.sys 4.3.5 seems to cause crashes when w2k exkernel is booted with /PAE. After about ten minutes from booting, the system freezes suddenly and a small red rectangle with white dots is shown on the upper left corner of the screen. It seems to be active desktop destruction. Unfortunally, no crash dump can be generated (too fast destruction). Forticlient should be used without /PAE on w2k exkernel Greetings from Austria, Joe
  22. Is there an equivalent of the "Open With" extension in Firefox, which allows to pass an URL to programs from a menu?
  23. StartAllBack 3.9.17
  24. I'm 99% sure that he DOES understand. And I agree with roytam. He is here to support his brower variants. He is not here to support extensions. His browsers are NOT 'technically' *modern*. Removing ID checking would open up a whole can of worms where the "userbase" would ASSUME that *modern* extensions are supposed to "work". Roytam's browsers are only 80% modern. Sure, we could debate if that is actually 80% or 90% or 98%. But the reality is that they are NOT 100%! Why in Hades would roytam open his browsers up to an onslaught of support enquiries asking why a thousand extensions do not work because they rely on the 20% (or 10% or 2%) that his browsers simply cannot "do"?
  25. you didn't understand me. The point is not to add anything to the extension manifest. You need to change it in the browsers themselves so that there is simply no checking. This will only make it easier for many users to install extensions. And the fact that most extensions do not work due to code incompatibility is a completely different question. For example, I already gave an example of https://realityripple.com/Software/XUL/deCDN/ which is not installed in basilisk.

The help file "OTSKB.chm" and the code comparison file "code.htm" have been updated accordingly. --- There will probably be a medium update for Windows 2000 users, soon (WINDOWS2000-OTSKB000001-V7-X86-INTL.exe) and a slight update for Windows XP users (WINDOWSXP-OTSKB000001-V2-X86-INTL.exe). --- things to do: Windows 2000 update: Write the version "5.00.2196.0001-V7" of the file "win32k.sys". 28. Here's what can I tell. Win32 used to make great software. Vista Extended Kernel was great, Supermium is great. He was an msfn member, but because of fame (lots of people asking if something works in his/her setup), he might be tired of msfn. Second System might be great, but I don't have money right now to test it. Since he used to be msfn member, I think his software can be shared. What I don't like is that he actually does not update frecquently his website or blog, BlackWingCat used to speak some things about his adventures extending Win2K. My suggestion for him would be to drop WinVista ExKernel users (so second system would work on Vanilla only), make a free version with less frecquent updates, and create paid beta channel updated more frecquently.
