Greetings, I had some health issues and personal as well, so I only used my work pc that has windows 11. Now I finally was able to just sit down and enjoy my pc. I wanted to do a clean install, so I did. The thing is I quickly discovered, that a lot of things have changed. Steam Still works, but downloading pretty much anything ends up with download data is corrupted. Only thing that works is to download the game on windows 11 pc and transfer it over to windows 8.1. Annoyingly, windows 7 works thanks to vxkex next. Firefox I've personally seen on this forum that some of you were able to run the latest version of firefox, but I could not do it myself. Since the reinstall I wanted to switch to firefox mainly thanks to google's stupid decision about manifest v2. Can anyone guide me through running firefox on 8.1? Beamng.Drive @mjd79 was really kind at the start of this year and gave me his modified version of libcef.dll that made Beamng 0.35 working under 8.1, unfortunately, starting with 0.36 beamng executable itself is not working and I could not figure out why. This is the only game I still care about and I really enjoy it on Windows 8.1 (yes, I'm weird ). So if anyone here has knowledge about a possible fix, I'd even pay you. Thanks for any help, so glad to finally do something that I really enjoy

98, SE, and ME do have VirtualAllocEx, only 95 doesn't. Use ImportPatcher or Dependency Walker to find all missing functions. If there are only a few, I can write a wrapper.

Hello Leokids123. You asked: "Can you disable your adblocker and enable Javascript?" Answer: Javascript is enabled in St52 when visiting Paypal. And this is the result when trying to sign in my Paypal account with ST52 and - hosts file adblocking disabled - DNS server adblocking disabled It is as NotHereToPlayGames said: "the SECURITY CHALLENGE CANNOT BE LOADED." -

NotHereToPlayGames said: "Both results are TECHNICALLY THE SAME! ie, the SECURITY CHALLENGE CANNOT BE LOADED." Hello roytam1, when trying to access my Paypal account with the latest St52 (2025-08-21), I have to confirm NotHereToPlayGames: And now for NM28 (2025-08-21) with the same PC and the same system settings: That's obviously a difference ! NM28 works with Paypal and St52 won't. WHY ? -

Desktop CMOS Battery Dies (Useful Tip)
Tripredacus replied to WalksInSilence's topic in Hardware Hangout
Older boards default to IDE/Standard mode for the storage controller, but best practice since at least XP era has been to set that to AHCI before installation. So yes, it is common for a system to not boot when BIOS is reset and this is always the first thing to check. Similarly on modern systems using a supported RAID (JBOD) option if an NVMe is installed instead of AHCI,. More modern boards from ODMs within the past 2 years have been shipping with a secondary option relating to the storage controller... which name escapes me right now. Basically it is a feature that only has a benefit for RAID but has been found to be enabled by default where AHCI is the default and also on systems that don't even have a RAID option at all... such as notebooks. This feature was annoying at its launch because Windows required a driver to use it (and boot) in addition to the storage driver and Windows versions at the time didn't have a default driver and there wasn't one initially available for WinPE either. I think current Windows 11 has support for this option now but there certainly is an in-between set of Windows builds that have problems. I hate that I can't remember the name of that option but I had primarily seen it on notebooks from Asus and Clevo.- 3 replies

And for what it is worth, my older Serpent can only get to the green box that indicates that the slide "passed" but it does not advance to the next page. It eventually times out and requests the slide mouse again. Both results are TECHNICALLY THE SAME! ie, the SECURITY CHALLENGE CANNOT BE LOADED. -

I now get this with both of my ISP's. ie, both land on the slide mouse page, both get the green box that the slide mouse page PASSED, but then both end up being blocked with "We couldn't load the security challenge." -

Okay, well, I can report that the Restore Session page **IS** working in the most-recent version of Serpent v52. I terminated via Task Manager ten consecutive times and ALL TEN presented a populated windows/tabs table. In the past, two or three of those ten would *NOT* present the table, it would just open/restore my last session **WITHOUT** presenting the table - this is not a "functioning" feature. But I can not replicate this behavior with most-recent version, ALL TEN terminations function properly. -
Installer works just fine. That is error it is creating. In English that says "file PIDGIN.EXE is linked to missing export function KERNEL32.DLL:VirtualAllocEx". What really baffles me here is that call does not exist on Windows 9x to begin with only on Windows NT and when I run it on vanilla Windows 98 or ME without kernel ex or anything else it starts up just fine. If program would rely on that call it would not start to begin with on 98. Pidgin 2.6.6 is last officially supporting 9x platform when using standalone legacy GTK runtime (https://web.archive.org/web/20110106073509/http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Installing Pidgin#CanIrunPidginonWindows98ME). I just though it may have something to do with fact 95 identifies itself as 4.00.1111 whereas 98 is 4.10.2222. 4.00 is also kernel number on NT 4.0 which made me assume for reason unknown executable is thinking to be under Windows NT platform. While I can use PSI 0.10 under Windows 95 to connect my Jabber server I prefer Pidgin since it support text mode file transfers if transfer proxy fails. here is files I used http://nokiamies.net/files/sw/pidgin-2.6.6-no-gtk.exe http://nokiamies.net/files/sw/gtk-runtime-2.6.10-rev-a.exe

Hello NotHereToPlayGames, You asked: "Just how did you get to the Restore Session page?" Answer: Via Task Manager (End Process) or the "Sledgehammer Method" ,i.e. cut off the power supply. -
Only if the check looks into the registry can the version be spoofed. This is rarely the case. Is this the installer or the app itself? And what is the full, exact text of the message (including title)?

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
That may be promising! MAYBE it's fixed. Just how did you get to the Restore Session page? What really has *never* worked for me in "newer" versions is for me to have only two windows open, each with only one tab, and Serpent.exe is TERMINATED via Windows Task Manager / System Informer / et alia. -

Hello NotHereToPlayGames, You said: "Newer versions of Serpent *do not work* on my end because Session Restore is a **MUST**. I have noted these Session Restore issues in the past and intermittent as they are in newer, I have *ZERO* problems with Session Restore in my older version." ------------------------------------------------------------ I have *ZERO* problems with Session Restore in my latest version of Serpent St52. -
