I thought the Finnish guy was talking about Komodo firewall 6, his post was rather confusing. There was several versions, like. Comodo Internet Security 6.0.260739 Comodo Internet Security 6.0.264710 I already wrote before, on my XP install 5.x and 6x. were the last good working ones. If I remember correctly, Comodo Firewall 6 was the last version too I had installed before I changed my firewall. Edited July 30, 2023 by AstroSkipper 3

I stopped at early 5 and don't even know what they looked like later. I only use software that support dark themes (for vampires). By any chance, what was the last good looking one for XP, without Windows 10 UI, but with dark theme? I see 5.5 from @Saxon's screenshot is fully white, which won't do for me. Thank you! 4

Have a look here: https://help.comodo.com/topic-72-1-284-3042-.html I personally can't say anything more about it because it was too long ago and I never used black or dark modes. Cheers, AstroSkipper Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted, I found that versions, already checked, unfortunately the dark theme is only partially dark, I'll try out the other ones. I consider Comodo Firewall to be good news, since it's not compatible with Kaspersky. What can I say, nice! 4

Incompatibilities are good news? I recall reports that Sandboxie was incompatible with Kaspersky. I only used Sandboxie 5.22 in combination with Avast 18.8 (and an old version of Malwarebytes Free) without any problems. 2

That sounds like an issue with Comodo that Dixel recently pointed out: https://forum.kaspersky.com/topic/kaspersky-free-antivirus-and-comodo-firewall-729/ Are you using Kaspersky 18 or 19 on XP? 1

You’re right: It was not “odd” that only Sandboxie and not Kaspersky mentioned a conflict between the two. Speaking of Kaspersky: AV Test has recently posted test results for June 2023. It almost goes without saying that Kaspersky is still a “top product,” but I note that the German government has still not pressured the lab into parroting any FUD about Kaspersky. To me, this is a healthy sign that Germany is still a free country. 🇩🇪 https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-10/june-2023/kaspersky-lab-standard-21.13-231311/ Edited August 13, 2023 by Vistapocalypse quotation marks for AV Test’s phrase 3
Dave-H Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Off-topic posts removed. Any more personal bickering here, and all of those involved will be punished, immediately, with no questions asked. This has gone on quite long enough, and this will not be tolerated in future in what should be purely technical discussion thread. Thank you. 7
Vistapocalypse Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Now that that’s finally been settled, I would like to suggest adding Norton to the blacklist on page 1 as another “Should be avoided” product. This should not cause any controversy, since no one at MSFN has admitted using Norton for as long as I can remember. I believe the final maintenance mode version was 22.15.5.40, and definition updates were never cut off AFAIK, but it’s hard to be certain when you don’t know of any XP users with a Norton licence. https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/norton-2215-windows-xp-windows-vista-windows-7-sp0-now-available 3
Dave-H Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Just to give you all a laugh, I'm still using Norton Utilities 2002 on XP (and Windows 98), but that's a bit off-topic as that never actually included an anti-virus option. It all still works though! BTW I don't think that list on page 1 is a 'blacklist', it's just a list of abandoned programs, which there's no point in using anyway, and Kaspersky which has well documented security concerns about it so 'use at your own risk'. 6
NotHereToPlayGames Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I don't remember what all came with my Norton Utilities, but I copied only the Norton WinDoctor portion to a USB stick and still run it every once in a while to clean out the Windows Registry.

It all still works though! I used Norton Systemworks 2004 which included Norton Utilities and Norton Antivirus and was installed by me under Windows ME and XP. This antivirus version was unfortunately not very effective in preventing popups and malicious code injected by dubious websites I surfed at that times, especially if using the Internet Explorer.
