Is there any way to download the Serpent 52 browser on clean installed Windows XP SP3 without MITM proxy?

On a clean install try only http-links! Here is the link for Serpent 52:

You need to have WinXP fully updated, including the POSReady '09 updates, to support TLS 1.2 and AES, in order to have any chance at all of making secure connections to many of today's Web hosts, and even that may not be enough!

POSReady '09 isn't even a thing for XP 5.2 (x64 Edition) AFAIK. Not sure the "need" for them is that great.

A clean installation of Windows XP is very different depending on the source you used to install from. Truth be told I don't really understand your problem. If the download of a browser installation file doesn't work in your system, you should download it by using another system, your smartphone or your tablet. And then you simply transfer it to your target system. By the way each browser of roytam1's editions will do a good, first job to download further necessary files. I don't need to do that because my download archive contains all important files to install whatever I desire. And furthermore a clean, native installation of Windows XP will lack of the ability to establish system connections using modern protocols and ciphers. In such a case one of the proxies ProxHTTPSProxy or HTTPSProxy will be necessary to establish such connections system-widely.

For that specific purpose, just follow @roytam1's initial advice:

On 6/1/2022 at 7:41 AM, roytam1 said:

you may just change [the URL from https://] back to http://

You can just paste in the URL from his latest post, delete the 's' from https:, press Enter, and save the .7z file. Then extract it where you please and use it instead of Chrome 49. (My initial answer was more along the lines of, if you want to use Chrome 49 for general browsing on XP.)

OTOH, if you've been using Chrome this long, you may find one of the 360EE versions easier to get used to than Serpent.

Use the --ignore-certificate-errors Chromium startup flag.

Unfortunately, this is a cipher suite mismatch, not a certificate error.

Admittedly, I assumed 32-bit WinXP. That is by far the most common. For 64-bit installs a MITM proxy is your only hope for making secure connections with Chrome 49, but the OP has ruled that out for whatever reason.

Good afternoon.

I ran into a problem. The browser throws an error for the VkOpt extension, which allows you to download music from a social network Vk.com . This extension for the Pale Moon browser gives an error in the New Moon browser.

After the last update to NM28 I am unable to install or update-add-ons, worked one build before

... Which add-on and from what repository?

FWIW, in the latest UXP releases, there's at least one commit imported from upstream that deals with extension updates:

Issue #1909 - Guard against empty update manifest URL

https://github.com/martok/palefill/releases - tried to install the latest version, and it failed.

This one DOES NOT officially support NM28, only the official Pale Moon releases are...
Excerpt from install.rdf file for latest version 1.11:

    <!-- Pale Moon -->
    <em:targetApplication>
      <Description>
        <em:id>{8de7fcbb-c55c-4fbe-bfc5-fc555c87dbc4}</em:id>
        <em:minVersion>28.14.0</em:minVersion>
        <em:maxVersion>31.*</em:maxVersion>
      </Description>

Even if force-installed (you'd have to lower minVersion to 28.10.6a1), v1.11 is not guaranteed to properly work with NM28, because it now selectively applies polyfills/workarounds based on Pale Moon's platform version value :

Quote

For example, PM 29.4.6 is UXP 4.8.3 which doesn't have optional chaining.
On PM 31.0.0, which is UXP 5.1.0, these fixes are not applied, since the browser supports the syntax natively.

; sadly, NM28 does not follow PM's platform version numbering (for latest NM28, it's 4.8.5) ...

Any other extension that used to install and self-update in
palemoon-28.10.6a1.win32-git-20220528-d849524bd-uxp-0855ba43d-xpmod
but does NOT in
palemoon-28.10.6a1.win32-git-20220604-d849524bd-uxp-e8b114fe4-xpmod ?
