On decommissioning of update servers for 2000, XP, (and Vista?) as of July 2019

Hi. I am doing a compilation of my Windows XP updates from SP3 May 2008 to April 2014 and from XP Embedded / Posready from May 2014 to April 2019.
I think of several methods. Which one do you recommend?
1.- I have downloaded the updates from the Microsoft catalog and I think some do not appear when searching for them, it depends on what is searched: XP, Embedded, Posready... although I know they are there because when searching for them with KB they do appear. In addition some newer ones must overwrite other old ones so these should not be necessary.
2.- Look in Control Panel, Add and remove programs, View updates, point the KB number and download them. Will they all be listed or just some?
3.- In VMWare install a clean XP, install SP3 and give update. When you start to install, cancel, search inside c: \ windows and copy them.

Another note: The updates listed in my update lists are sometimes not available via AU / WU / MU! The lists are cleaned up, where by updates which are no longer needed by more recent updates are not listed.

I was scanning the whole hotfix database, but, sadly, when the work finished, the download server have been already shutdown.

Actually, it hasn't been shutdown. Just buried.

Use this URL: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hotfix/kbhotfix?kbnum=2990184&kbln=en-us&forceorigin=esmc
Accept the EULA and it will redirect you to the KB4343220 page. No worries. Just click the URL again and you'll be in the hotfix download page. Then change the URL to the update KB you want to download

There was a single hotfix for XP Embedded which no one has noticed:

Are there any others? I intend on making a compilation of POSReady patches in PT-PT language.

Here is my list of updates. Not sure if it is 100% correct, but after installing all these updates, the WU does not offer anything. Updates marked as SSE2 cannot be installed on processes without support. Updates marked SSE are updates that are needed only for those who have a processor without SSE2 support.

Accept the EULA and it will redirect you to the KB4343220 page. No worries. Just click the URL again and you'll be in the hotfix download page. Then change the URL to the update KB you want to download

I'm not following you, or at least, it's not working here.

When I click on that URL it goes directly to the "This hotfix is no longer available" page for KB4343220. There's no EULA to accept. Clicking the URL again just brings up the "This hotfix is no longer available" page again.

Same here. Even worse, this problem exists for ALL hotfixes, even ones I already downloaded. Even if you already know the actual DL link, in a form like http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows Server 2003/sp3/Fix200653/3790/free/315139_ENU_i386_zip.exe from having downloaded it before, the same thing happens. Seems that the DNS entry for hotfixv4.microsoft.com now has a new CNAME pointing to hotfixv4.trafficmanager.net, not sure when that happened.

It's worse now, because now one gets "Server not found" from trafficmanager.net... So what was not hoarded and saved seems to have fallen down the memory hole forever (unless it's been moved to yet another CNAME... then again, it still'd be problematic brcause the numbers in the url are not related to the KB numbers in any obvious ways, IMO). BTW, has anyone perchance preserved this one?

My apologies. When I needed to download a hotfix I usually used that link and it redirected to the EULA page. Seems like Microsoft closed that loophole...

I have spent time collecting all my updates of Windows XP SP3 + IE8 + Posready + Office 2003 + compatibility 2007/2010 + All Frameworks. I have used as a personal guide the update history of microsoft update giving it to print in pdf file. I have downloaded almost all of the Microsoft update catalog and some of Google. The few missing ones have been deleted from the catalog by obsolete or replaced. I have ordered 987 updates by installation date.

Hello MSFN

I've been following this thread for quite some time and doing some experiments with this. I'm trying to create 2 updated ISOs with Windows XP Home and Windows XP PRO, each including all xp and posready updates and all custom updates.

So, using vmware and 2 original ISOs with sp3, I've applied the posready registry tweak and scan for updates with windows update minitool until there are no more updates (excluding .net framework)

@ED_Sln, I've seen your list and I found this info that it might be relevant for you

These are all updates that I've found
