wyxchari Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 (edited) Hi. I am doing a compilation of my Windows XP updates from SP3 May 2008 to April 2014 and from XP Embedded / Posready from May 2014 to April 2019. I think of several methods. Which one do you recommend? 1.- I have downloaded the updates from the Microsoft catalog and I think some do not appear when searching for them, it depends on what is searched: XP, Embedded, Posready... although I know they are there because when searching for them with KB they do appear. In addition some newer ones must overwrite other old ones so these should not be necessary. 2.- Look in Control Panel, Add and remove programs, View updates, point the KB number and download them. Will they all be listed or just some? 3.- In VMWare install a clean XP, install SP3 and give update. When you start to install, cancel, search inside c: \ windows and copy them. heinoganda Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Another note: The updates listed in my update lists are sometimes not available via AU / WU / MU! The lists are cleaned up, where by updates which are no longer needed by more recent updates are not listed.

Just click the URL again and you'll be in the hotfix download page. Then change the URL to the update KB you want to download On 4/14/2019 at 9:42 PM, daniel_k said: There was a single hotfix for XP Embedded which no one has noticed: Are there any others? ED_Sln Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Here is my list of updates. Not sure if it is 100% correct, but after installing all these updates, the WU does not offer anything. Updates marked as SSE2 cannot be installed on processes without support. Updates marked SSE are updates that are needed only for those who have a processor without SSE2 support. Even if you already know the actual DL link, in a form like http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows Server 2003/sp3/Fix200653/3790/free/315139_ENU_i386_zip.exe from having downloaded it before, the same thing happens. Seems that the DNS entry for hotfixv4.microsoft.com now has a new CNAME pointing to hotfixv4.trafficmanager.net, not sure when that happened.

So what was not hoarded and saved seems to have fallen down the memory hole forever (unless it's been moved to yet another CNAME... then again, it still'd be problematic brcause the numbers in the url are not related to the KB numbers in any obvious ways, IMO). BTW, has anyone perchance preserved this one? On 4/14/2019 at 5:42 PM, daniel_k said: KB2963522 - The system or application freezes in a Windows Embedded POSReady 2009-based device

Jody Thornton Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) Is it true that update servers are being decommissioned for 2000, XP, and Vista as of July 2019? This might warrant a dedicated topic, no? (I've duplicated this in the Vista and Windows 2000 sections too) Edited April 28, 2019 by Jody Thornton Removed references to POS Ready Thread :)
