i think many have tried but encountered headaches along the way ... explorer is a core file that has many dependencies ... i also wanted to do such thing by using 2xplorer or xplorer2 by zabkat ... but didn't push for it much ...

hey kel! yup ... i'll pm it to you

ey Kel! thanks for the confirmation ... already found out the ans to my Qs due to experiments (as sadly i had to create my build earlier than any reply could be posted ) ... no harm though ... perhaps, interest on this side of the forum has waned a little ... ... posted a resolution to my similar inquiry here ... a sample of what i did here ... thanks again Kel!

Support for hotfixes not appearing on Windows Update
Kiki Burgh replied to Tomcat76's topic in HFSLIP
hi TC! on top shows WindowsXP-KB914841-v3 but from MS there's only WindowsXP-KB914841-x86-ENU ... Edit: WGA link removed. Tomcat76. -
hi! is TheMadGuy still active in this forum? just asking ...
-
hi! i'd like to share mine ... in case this would be of any interest, i uploaded it HERE here's what they look like (i've posted 2 but only 1 for the winntbbu.dll & syssetup.dll --- the 2nd 1 ):
-
hi! prior to TC's post what i did was i took out roots cert from HF and proceeded w/ 931768 still in HF ... it slipstreamed ... i'll be using the latest test rel later to put everything back in ... hopefully, this nails it!

Support for hotfixes not appearing on Windows Update
Kiki Burgh replied to Tomcat76's topic in HFSLIP
thanks! which specific HFs superceded those? -
hi mr-data! technically, that .inf is what you need for a specific driver as it directs to the other files necessary for integration ... EDIT: you may refer to these very basic steps nLite And Drivers

hasn't WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe already superced 897338v3 (& all other time zone updates? what about the ff: IE7-WindowsXP-KB932538-x86-ENU.exe IE7-WindowsXP-KB933105-x86-ENU.exe IE7-WindowsXP-KB933182-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB920605-v2-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB921397-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB931505-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB931760-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB933612-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB934161-x86-ENU.exethanks! -
thanks for this Veranor ... it's truly odd since i had both root cert & 931768 in prev run & this error didn't come up ... oh btw, i forgot to mention in my prev post that as a result too, no IE7 was installed ...
-
hi TC & glentium! i got the same error too which happened at 2 different instances: strange since the other night i tried it but with some of the other ie7 supposedly superceded by 931768 still included (as identified here: Support for hotfixes not appearing on Windows Update) ... yet everything went well without this specific error ... it could be something else ... i've attached too HFSLIP.log from both runs ... i also tried to see integrated HFs by using Kel's Windows Update List CPL addon NirSoft's WinUpdate List & it shows nothing of 931768 ... attached the result too ... thanks! btw, as a result too, ie7 was not installed ... logs.7z

how about this: http://www.microsoft.com/reader/developers/downloads/tts.asp?
-
couldn't agree more so that readers don't have to do long scrolling ... do the same for your hfslip.log moving forward ... attached it in compressed format
-
kewl ... new ver out! ey nuhi, have my requests (always hide taskbar icons, i.e, volume controller & being stuck at computer name) made it to this patched ver? thanks!
-
there is an advanced button when you get to Hotfixes & Update Packs ... you can disable it from there ... prompts would always be there if SFC is not disabled ...
-
@ mara- have you disabled SFC from the patches windows? try to enable deletion of cat files too ...@ D1s7urb4d i don't know exactly if you're referring to this: RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack ... scroll down & you'll see DL link for the pack ... you simply add/insert the pack just like any addon or hotfix in the hotfix/addon portion

this could add a little more info: Proper way to integrate nVidia ForceWare into XP?
-
thanks TC! this thread could serve as a host for dumpdudes.cmd report ... he! he! probably, we can include when reporting the new binaries to be included in the driver cab reported by hfslip.cmd run? just thinking ... btw, do i need to remove the specific HF too that contains this file?
-
hi johndoe! already checked on this before posting ... thing is "This update has been superseded by another update. For more information about the replacement fix, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 931301" yet what supercedes it only applies to Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 ... i use XP Pro SP2 ... i thinking if it presents itself in dumpdudes, perhaps TC would recommend this HF to be taken out ... he! he! just reported it as requested when using dumpdudes.cmd ... thanks!
-
hi! got serscan.sy_ from running dumpdues.cmd ... chances are this came from an unfficial HF that i've included in HF ... attached exclude.txt & hfslip.log ... thanks! EXCLUDE.TXT HFSLIP.zip

hi XPero! just like to share what i did to make my customized winntbbu.dll work even with XPize slipstreamed ... i used HFSLIP to replace existing winntbbu.dll via FIX dir ... for those familiar with using HFSLIP (which likewise supports XPize slipstreaming , you'd undesrtand what i'm talking about ... worked flawlessly ... another way would be to integrate XPize into the source as mentioned in XPize's user guide [section 3: Create a XPized Windows ISO] before replacing winntbbu.dll in the newly created SOURCE ... my apologies for the bother ... thanks!
