  1. It doesn't appear to have another slot https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&&mediaurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.prlog.org%2F10399203-portwells-ruby9719vg2ar-industrial-atx-motherboard-based-on-intel-g41-express.jpg&q=portwell+ruby-9719
  2. @dearleader Do you happen to have the USB drive before the HDD in the BIOS boot settings? If so, move the HDD to the top, then check if you can still boot Windows through the USB by selecting it from the boot menu (F12 key) about #4 , what i think jaclaz meant was to make a floppy disk image file, then mount and boot that through grub4dos.
  3. There are plenty of things to disable/remove in D620. First you can disable various devices in BIOS setup. If it still doesn't work, open the laptop and physically remove whatever you have in the WWAN and WLAN slots, also the bluetooth card (near the left hinge). If you have the version with an nVidia video, it may have gone defective. Try some live Linux (or Windows To Go) with a driver for it to check. Also, it won't hurt to run a couple passes of Memtest.
  4. @Joaquim When you play DOS games in Windows, the Volume Control program (sndvol32.exe) should be enough. When you are running in pure DOS, you should look for a mixer/settings program included with the DOS drivers you use.
  5. Use UniExtract to get the program files and see if it starts at all. No need to waste time on the installer if the program itself won't work.
  6. What does Resource Meter say when you get those errors? It's pretty normal to run out of GDI resources way before you run out of RAM on Win9x.
  7. Sorry, my mistake. It was in Win95 OSR2 : https://i.imgur.com/xjLUYfJ.png Still not sure if this is MMC or something else...
  8. oops I normally have my editor show hexadecimals, but the switching is done with a single click and i didn't even notice, lol
  9. @jaclaz done test.zip Offset 0x1CC, value 00 is enabled, 04 is disabled.
  10. OK, the option is indeed missing in WinME: https://i.imgur.com/DjK200x.png Here, the Win98 file with that setting disabled dosprmpt.zip Couple other untouched shortcuts included for your amusement Extract to your Windows folder (backup+overwrtite your original file) [edit] PIF Editor from Windows 3.11, if anyone wants it - PIFEDIT.zip
  11. Look for a "MS-DOS Prompt" or "COMMAND.COM" shortcut somewhere in the Windows folder. It contains the default settings for DOS programs. Change that option there and test again. If the properties dialog for that shortcut lack this option (as Jaclaz suggested), or the shortcut itself is missing, you can try to copy one from a Win98 system and see how that works. P.S. If i remember correctly, the Target field contained only the executable name without a path - try to keep it this way.
  12. @dmiranda@XPerceniol@Dave-H Just a small note - microphone inputs are very often mono, if your source is stereo better go with line in (or check your specific mic input first).
  13. @roytam1 Have you stopped doing NM27 builds, or there is simply not enough changes to warrant a new one?
  14. It is the order those entries physically appear in the directory. You can check it with a disk editor. Norton SpeedDisk had an option to sort directory entries when optimizing, this also moved entries for deleted files to be last. https://i.imgur.com/QY3BB57.png
  15. https://msfn.org/board/topic/183489-windows-xp2003-x32-on-modern-hardware-faq/ https://msfn.org/board/topic/181615-ntoskrnl-emu_extender-for-windows-xp2003/ Or get XP SP3 Integral Edition, it has those included.
  16. Open the Add/Remove Programs applet and check the second tab. Is there anything saying "Computer Management" or "Desktop Management" or something similar? It may be within one of the main entries there. If it's not there, click on "Have disk", select the C:\Windows\INF\ folder (it is probably hidden, unhide it or just type the path manually), and check again. I was always wondering WTF is that, but thinking about it now it may have been MMC...
  17. Add this to your AUTOEXEC.BAT: SET DIRCMD=/W/ON Try DIR /ON/P I don't remember which version added that option though, so yours may not have it.
  18. You can grab some Linux live CD/USB and test there too for comparison. If it produces similar results, there is probably not much that a driver change can do to improve speeds. Check this for some testing advices - https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/108838/how-can-i-benchmark-my-hdd At least one tool mentioned there has both Windows and Linux builds available, so you can do a direct comparison - https://github.com/axboe/fio/ 77MB/s sounds fine to me.
  19. Try this - https://web.archive.org/web/20070127041529/http://download.microsoft.com:80/download/9/b/5/9b59baf0-d78e-448f-a409-2dcd8ff3baf6/WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB901105-v3-x64-ENU.exe
  20. IMHO a build with updated libs (openssl, urllib, etc.) would be best. The launcher is an useful addition, but is not the main feature of a proxy P.S. it's fine on my end as it is, don't let my words affect your decision.
  21. The files with -ia32 work as well. Like the one in this post.
  22. MyPal 29.3 mingw (non-SSE2) build - mypal-29.3.0.mingw32.installer.exe Archived discussion and release page available here.
