  1. Simple, effective- but horrible colors Crap, I used to be able to see my localhost page from the other computers on my network by typing my computer's IP, but now it doesn't work And does anybody have a good looking Apache logo with a black background?
  2. Whenever I want to use Kazaa Lite K++, I have to do certain things to get myself pumped up. For example, I'll dress in solid black colors, wear green night vision goggles, and crawl around my floor looking for the RIAA and the Feds and the like. Then, bam! Out of my secret sock I pull the Kazaa Lite CD of Power. Quickly I throw it into my cd drive, and start the installer. While it's loading, I seal any windows and put a towel under my door. Once it's finished installing, I open the program and disable sharing of files and uncheck act as a supernode. OK, the easy part is over. Next, I manually type in the ASCII values of the words I'm searching for, just in case somebody is outside my window watching me. Before I hit the search button, I layer the inside of my room with tin foil. Satellites watch everything you do, you know. I then locate the file I wish to "borrow" and silently click "Download now". Now comes the tough part! Every excrutiating second that I'm borrowing these files, I have to constantly watch out my window for black SUV's. It goes like this. RUN TO TEH WINDOW! Run back to computer, check progress. RUN TO THE WINDOW! Run back, etc. Quite a workout in those black stealth clothes. After the long wait, my file is done downloading. I immediately burn it to CD and put it in my other special sock. Finally, I destroy the hard drive of my computer, break the Klite CD in half, and burn the clothes I was wearing so they can't trace my DNA. Then, I poor alcohol over my keyboard so they can't get my fingerprints! HOLY CRAP there's still residual electrons on my screen telling everybody WHAT I DID!!!11! LEAVE NO EVIDENCE!!! DESTROY EVERYTHING!!!111!!!1!!!!!111!1!1one
  3. Oh ok, didn't think of that. Back on topic, am I the only person here who has their own localhost page? Come on, don't be shy...
  4. Personally I use ISO, and dislike BIN. ISO's are smaller, for one. I think bin/cue is preferred over iso because it's more stable or something. I've also heard (but can't back up) that bin/cue is better for cracker groups to transfer releases with because it corrupts less often. Once again, I have no idea if that's even true. Somebody that knows a lot about bin/cue/iso will surely post and fill you in
  5. Glad it's fixed. What kind of problem was it? Corrupt database entries?
  6. Nice find, Ward. I'll be sure to send some of my ideas. Not sure if this belongs in the Longhorn forum, though...
  7. No, as long as the new hard disk is formatted with a file system (like NTFS) you can just store files on it without having an OS installed.
  8. The first thing that comes to mind is that you have a heavily fragmented drive and Indexing Service is turned on. First of all, defragment your hard drive and see if that fixes anything. Next, turn off the Indexing Service on that drive by right-clicking it, going to Properites, and unchecking "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching". Will the hard drive wear out? If it's doing that all night every night, it'll probably decrease the life of the hard drive.
  9. Can anybody else NOT open these topics? Customizing XP to be more 2K Windows Explorer The only thing they have in common is that premier69 was the last one to post in them. I have no problem opening the other threads in the Windows XP forum. What's going on?
  10. The only people that could benefit from 1 TB of email storage would be spammers.
  11. I hate those things. It seems like I've been running into more of them in the past week for some odd reason. YOO R THE 108420842 VisitER TO OUR SITE (cue the balloon and flashing background) CLIK TO CLAIM PRIZE!
  12. I can't because 1. It's a "free tech support" service made for people in my city that aren't familiar or comfortable with forums (i.e. the students at my high school, older people, etc.). I had to cut out a lot of "confusing" things from the default IPB skin. So there's no member registration, no member bar, no calender, etc. 2. I used my real name all over the site 3. Anybody who does a WHOIS on my domain gets my address + phone number Maybe once I WHOIS Guard it, I'll mention it on MSFN for review. Until then, it's a secret.
  13. That's a nice looking site, Tracer! Did you design the skin yourself?
  14. Are the majority of the files you try to open on a network drive? If so, follow the instructions on this page: Office 2003 program is slow or may appear to stop responding (hang) when you open a file from a network location
  15. Thanks for the info, rstryker. That's a really good price.
  16. Glad I could help. As far as the error goes, do you have a firewall running? Did you make sure port 3306 is open? From my researching, it looks like that could also be a misconfigured INI file. I also found this:
  17. Once you mount the image to a virtual drive (F:), you should do this: 1. Start the Virtual Machine 2. Click the CD menu, followed by Use Physical Drive F: 3. Allow the virtual machine to boot
  18. It's just logical to conclude it's a hoax. Step back, calm down, and take a good look at that article. The sarcasm is obvious as seen here: And the final point to note: Name 1 service, anywhere, that offers anything in the form of 1 terabyte. Most average users don't even know what a terabyte is
  19. Hey guys, I don't know how many of you have Apache or IIS installed and have your own localhost page, but I just spent the afternoon playing with it and this is what I came up with. The only thing I still need to add is a "Powered by Apache" logo, but I can't find one with a black background. Click for screenshot (Sorry about the blurring, it's my local community based site that nobody can know about ) Why don't you show off your localhost?
  20. Have you tried updating the drivers for the CDRW drive? It sounds like a driver problem.
  21. Did you download and configure PHP? IIS does not come with PHP by default.
  22. Sounds like an awesome idea. It'd be great for people who use the command prompt all the time. For me, however, I use the "Open Command Window Here" popup on right click. I like having the movable window.
