  1. To test your Windows DVD, simply Capture the ISO in Virtual PC by following these steps: 1. Create a New Virtual Machine (with a new virtual hard disk) 2. Start the Virtual Machine 3. Click the CD menu, followed by Capture ISO Image 4. Select the ISO of your DVD 5. Allow the virtual machine to boot, and test away
  2. It depends on what you use your PocketPC for.
  3. Thanks, I'll check it out... Edit:Uh, I'm a bit confused. On their main page it says it has "security features" but when you click the details, it says "Your Information will be visible in WHOIS". Is there something I'm not seeing?

I didn't even like computers until about 5 years ago- probably because the first computer I got was a Compaq. I've never had so many problems with a computer before as I did with that one.
  5. Every above me must be kidding, because this was confirmed an April Fools joke.
  6. CDog! Great to see you here at MSFN! Enjoy your stay
  7. ICANN Cracks Down on Invalid WHOIS Data Related to this, anybody know of any good registrars that offer WHOIS security protection?
  8. p.n.v. - cazzman edited his post because it was not the correct information. My previous post tells you how to lower it. Was I not clear enough?
  9. No, Toshiba opted not to upgrade their lower end PocketPC's. Windows Mobile 2003 Upgrade Chart
  10. No, in fact you shouldn't already have another virtual OS installed (on same Virtual HD) if you're testing out a new DVD image. Right when the Virtual machine is booting, just hook the ISO and it will boot like any other image would. @CuBie- I agree, VMWare is not my favorite either. I don't like it for the fact that it dominates your machine by adding like 3 virtual network cards (that actually show up in device manager and stuff) and installs all this extra crap.
  11. To lower the hardware acceleration, go to the Display Properties page (right click desktop, properties or find the link in Control Panel), and click the Settings tab. Next, click the "Advanced" button, followed by the "Troubleshoot" tab. You can lower it there. Good luck!
  12. I would say go with 98 lite. Litepc.com - 98 lite
  13. Hey, you came to the right place. Welcome to MSFN!
  14. This will pop up if you have not activated Windows XP yet. It is part of the Out of Box Experience. If you do not activate your copy of Windows XP in 1 month, it will lock you out and you will be forced to activate. I recommend activating
  15. I'm assuming you're talking about the New Folder icon with a star in the upper-right. If that's the case, I'm sorry to say that it works fine for me. A new folder is created. I have RC1 of SP2. Have you tried right-clicking and selecting New->Folder?
  16. As Kenny said, the 64-bit version of XP is not backwards compatable with 32-bit machines. However, you can install 32-bit versions of Windows on a 64-bit machine. (I think, somebody correct me if I'm wrong)
  17. Upgrading from any operating system to another is not recommended, especially when we're talking about ME. Try downloading updated drivers for your graphics card (note, they are not always detected by Windows update, so installing them separately is sometimes a good idea).
  18. If you're on Windows XP, you can download drivers for your card at Nvidia's home page. Simply download the file on that page, and install it like you would any other program. It will automatically install the drivers.
  19. Here's the official guide to using Virtual PC: Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 Evaluation Guide As far as your problems with the ISO, trying hooking an actual CDROM to see if the same problems occur- if you can't even use a physical CD, then either drivers are messed up or the installation is borked. Oh, and trev- Virtual PC is great. Its a lot easier to use for beginners, and IIRC uses less resources than the other virtual program whose name I cannot remember at this time.
  20. You need Microsoft ActiveSync to interface with your PocketPC. (To download, click your language and then accept the agreement. Alternatively, you can click here)
  21. PocketGamer.org is a great place to go for games.

I'm a teen. As far as MSFN goes, I'm suprised by the amount of mature teens we have here. Flaming is practically non-existant. MSFN is one great place to be!
