Holy crap, that was a close one. First off, StyleXP obviously doesn't work on SP2.2096. So I downloaded the fixed uxtheme.dll from vortex. Hmm, I replaced it in the dllcache folder as well as the ServicePackFiles/i386. Next, I proceeded to change my theme. Big mistake. crap.gif Huge mistake. At first I thought, hmm, I'll just bring up Control Panel and uninstall SP2. Instead I was greeted with black. "Ok, System Restore!" Couldn't even find it. The whole start menu was black. Next, I tried Last Known Good Configuration. No luck. Safe mode? Still black. Boot into Longhorn and try to mount XP's registry files and fix the theme? Over my head. Finally, I rebooted into XP and randomly clicked around for 5 minutes, using my brothers computer as a reference, and was able to restore the default Windows XP theme. Now I'm stuck with Luna. Any suggestions on how to prevent this problem in the future and actually use a non-XP theme?
