  1. @ Everybody above me, Holy. Crap. Me? I have.. lets see, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6! Boo YEAH! BEAT THAT! 6 MP3's! In your face.
  2. You picked out the drivers one by one? I thought tap.exe did that for you
  3. Same here, man. The El Torito stuff just messes with me. They definitely make it hard enough to try to stop people like you and me from creating a super WinPE-XP-embedded hybrid If I have time I might load in the XP Embedded trial and play with it a bit. I love creating custom Windows distros...
  4. CuBie, you have some really nice logos there- what program/technique do you use to get that awesome effect in the background?
  5. That is awesome! A way to remove things from the Add/Remove list without having to keep a backup of the stuff you removed- hmm, MSFN Dev Team, got any ideas? Nice find, RaveRod! Did you find it yourself or Google it?
  6. Welcome to MSFN! Enjoy your time here!
  7. Hey! Green 4051 Bliss was my idea! Nice work on the other ones...
  8. Holy CRAP! Just by glancing, about 1/2 of those should be disabled.
  9. Basically they're just protected by those SFC dll's for no apparent reason. A while ago, I researched them extensively, found out the xerox folder's purpose (summary: nothing) and decided to delete them. No harm done. Just follow any SFC disable guide and the OS won't bug you about them again. Unless you're trying to figure out why they're in winlogon.exe- in that case, it's probably because you always need winlogon.exe, so you wouldn't be able to just kill that process and delete them.
  10. Check this page for all in one kits and the like. Not sure if they're specifically for ftp, but they might be.
  11. Since the site is in beta, there's not much you can really do. It would be best to wait for the final and obtain the 2 mentioned programs from alternative sources.
  12. Wow, that messed with my head for a few minutes. But good job!
  13. Welcome to MSFN! Glad to see another beta collector here interested in Longhorn and such What nick do you go by on other Beta forums? I frequently visit a bunch of them... Enjoy your stay!
  14. Hello, and welcome to MSFN! You picked a great place to learn, I learn something new almost every day
  15. If you're talking about removing the voice-over you did, then the answer is no. If you're talking about something else, the answer is most likely "No".
  16. It sounds like you have a variant of the Blaster worm, which exploits the RPC service. You should first run an up-to-date virus scan, or use a specific tool to remove this worm. First, to stop the machine from shutting down, go to the command prompt and type "shutdown -a" without the quotes. You may download a removal tool here. I also recommend searching Google for more information. Microsoft Information Link
  17. Not counting any crappy public computers (like our school's) the oldest thing I'll work on is XP
  18. Holy crap, that was a close one. First off, StyleXP obviously doesn't work on SP2.2096. So I downloaded the fixed uxtheme.dll from vortex. Hmm, I replaced it in the dllcache folder as well as the ServicePackFiles/i386. Next, I proceeded to change my theme. Big mistake. crap.gif Huge mistake. At first I thought, hmm, I'll just bring up Control Panel and uninstall SP2. Instead I was greeted with black. "Ok, System Restore!" Couldn't even find it. The whole start menu was black. Next, I tried Last Known Good Configuration. No luck. Safe mode? Still black. Boot into Longhorn and try to mount XP's registry files and fix the theme? Over my head. Finally, I rebooted into XP and randomly clicked around for 5 minutes, using my brothers computer as a reference, and was able to restore the default Windows XP theme. Now I'm stuck with Luna. Any suggestions on how to prevent this problem in the future and actually use a non-XP theme?
  19. Anybody that was having trouble downloading, try again right now, because I just got it downloaded at ~400 kb/sec. Much better than the 6 kb/sec I was getting before
  20. Nice guide! Can't stand to see the entry in there about "ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1"- I thought that myth was debunked several months ago. Oh yes, here. There was an MSFN thread about it, too.
  21. The USB harddrives are usually normal harddrives in a portable case- so partitioning them shouldn't be different from any other hard drive.
  22. Whoa, they use a different delete key than I do
