That string does NOT exist in WinMe and MANY users use the SE2ME on their 98SE's... x0F85 = JUMP instruction, many of which exist within. You're changing a specific "set" into a series of "NOP" for a "drop-through".

Followup - WHICH Win9x? Neither the Win98SE nor WindowsME EXPLORER.EXE (English) contain this Hex string.

@Charlotte Not an OEM? Sounds much like the XP was the OEM Install.Of course, the OP is not providing - the Model of Lenovo, only claiming the "correct x64 drivers". I have seen some lappies with modem being non-removable. re: The Windows 7 - What exactly is the source of this "x64"? I've found mention of "laptop", "desktop" (Compaq 5WV270?), and "Omnibook 900B" from past posts, but nothing more specific.

I believe that's been repeatedly answered in many a topic already. MSFN already works with Win95OSR2.x, Win98, Win98SE, WinME, and Win2k well beyond MS' Support period. Heck we still assist with the "older" ones (NT3/4, Win3.x, etc etc). Guess you didn't notice? I guess what I'm saying is... this is a reduntant topic.
