www.opera.com that should fix the problem, IE is a piece of garbage. always has been always will be. it would also help if he upgraded from the old obsolete 98 to atleast WinXP. it baffles me as to why ppl would still use 98, pcs are so cheap nowdays that anyone could afford to get a pc that will run xp as thats the only reason why they wouldnt want to. Its not like win98 is better than xp at anything it does.

knoppix comes in two forms, cd and dvd. If you dont have fast internet you could always download Slax, its much smaller and is just as useful.

it has been said ppl have gotten BartPE to boot from usb keys, this should make it much easier to update than having to keep burning cds over and over again, i personally use cds as i dont have a usb key. I would suggest you take a long look at all the help files and manuals for BartPE to see what you want from it. I have personally tried both Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win and Reatogo and both are pretty crap if you want a decent fast PECD, they add an unimaginable amount of rubbish that you will most definately not use.

truly great work, this will help so many ppl out there that arent familiar with the addon pack way of installing things. Maybe Nuhi might even consider putting it on the Nlite webpage as its certainly going to be a very valuable tool.

cant say i have ever used it , i would tend to stick to more mainstream drive image programs like Acronis TrueImage or Norton Ghost

yes that is correct, if you remove bootfix.bin once ur system is installed and it reboots to load windows it will simply boot the cd again.

the only problem is that anyone whos smart enough not to download the automatic updates will easily just avoid adding this new update. although its a good idea in theory i really dont like the things that Microsoft are trying todo as of late. im sure a few ppl have seen the recent bill that microsoft is trying to pass that will allow spyware and other such companies to have the ability to scan and modify files on your pc if u dont take the time to read the license agreement when installing certain things. http://www.shoutwire.com/viewstory/10684/M...es_Spyware_Bill

there must be a different way other than using these programs just to create a service. i am making a silent installer for it to run from svcpack.inf so surely all i need todo is add some registry keys.

Hi im making a silent installer for my copy of CpuIdle Extreme and i want to know how i can set it to run as a service, i checked over on there site but it tells u to use a program which u have to pay for todo it. now i know that it can be done without using this program but i dont know what Registry Entries i need to create inorder for it to run as a service (eg path to .exe and description for showing in services.msc) ( i have set all my other reg entries for the program so that it doesnt display in the taskbar anyway and doesnt show the splash screen etc etc. )

so let me get this right, you want to decrease the performance of your pc ? This may sound silly but why didnt you just buy a lower spec processor in the first place and use the extra cash you saved for the electricity bill.

the other only way is if u delete the file extension from the view > file types, then it will be unknown and will go back to using the default windows unknown file format icon. it is generally not a good idea to associate all unknown file types with notepad

unfortauntely that is MS way of making ur system look ugly. you could go into folder options > file types and then associate new icons for the action. Also you may be interested to know this for the future

i used to use sygate too, the only other decent firewall is Agnitum Outpost, Zonealarm was good along time ago but that too has now become a crappy interfearing nuissance program.

there isnt really anythignwrong with MS, the browser IE is pretty crap buts thats only because of fact it uses Active X , apart from that the only reason i could say its less secure is because itrs the mainstram OS and therefore crackers and virus writers specifically target it.

open up a shellstyle.dll in resource hacker and you can manually edit the UIFILE resources, thats how i have had todo it in past.

i would personally like an option so just extract the resources into a directory instead of either installing it or intergrating it, that way some of us can make our own adjustments without having to install or integrate it in the first place.

ace mega codec pack isnt a very good option, it is packed full of useless codecs that arent needed and if u are inexperianced and decide to install them all you will get alot of conflicts ( one of my friends tried recommending it to me only to discover this ) K-Lite mega codec pack is more appropriate although you only need the ffdshow, quicktime, realplayer ones to be installed. of course you could always just use VLC

personally i dont think u should be even considering the conroe right now, its not even available yet and by the time Vista ( Eventually ) comes out intel will have made something faster anyway, and AMD will be releasing there new 65nm processors which are gauranteed to blow the intel ones away, especially if they can get the support for DDR2 DDR3 ram modules.

add a bitmap resource then in the run dialog box add a bmp element and then link it to the bitmap reoource u added.

i do mine the old fashioned 3.42 way and hex edit the .exe to use 48x48 icons and then i resource hack and replace the default ones with my own. then i just repackage the sfx installer and its all done.
