i would like to know how to replace it too, i know that you can currently just change it by adding 2 strings to the registry pointing to the new throbbers which u can place in ur $OEM$ folder. directly replacing the resource within a file would be alot cleaner way of doing it
cant say i have used the remote desktop as i would much rather use VNC for that kind of thing. for gaming you should really stick to XP as that is what it is primarily made for, home entertainment. As for stability Server 2003 is without a doubt the most stable Windows OS i have ever used.
if it doesnt ask u which users u want to install the shortcuts for then you wont be able to. you could either try repackaging the installation or just deleting the shortcuts created in the other user accounts using a script.
so long as those strings are still the same then it should work fine, i have hex edited my winrar 3.50 the same way as the old 3.42 so that i could resource hack it and add bigger toolbar icons without having to use a theme.
sounds like you mean silently installing programs, if that is what u mean then u will want to look in the application addons section. You can use nlite to silently install them by simply just adding the cab in the hotfixes section of nlite.
2003 Edition links added to first post. I have also updated the Dutch version as the file stamp was still in English, have also added Norwegian version
you would be insane not to install SP2 , SP1 had so many problems it was a joke. if you plan on installing SP2 you should really slippstream it into ur install source, many friends of mine had huge problems when installing SP2 over the top of their already installed windows.
yay i knew i had seen it around somewhere. thanks boooggy keep up the good work. does the pack contain all the hotfixes since SP1 as i havent checked for hotfixes in a while now.
i currently just download all the hotfixes and integrate them. im not entirely sure how nlite integrates the ryanvm addon otherwise i would see if i could make a 2003 Post SP1 pask.
did u add the mce parts into ur streamlined xp cd cause im guessing you didnt. XP MCE is a 2disc set the first for XP Pro the second with all the additions on it.
first of all dont double post, there is an edit button you know. second all these things you can find on the cosmetics section of the xp unattended guide. http://unattended.msfn.org
Its called BETA for a reason you know. Judging by your lack of reading skills that you are just another moron who has gone to a warez site and found it saying windows vista final and thought " WOW im gonna be cool and use vista now" even though you probably have absolutely no idea how to use something like XP
i have seen one around somewhere, i have been searching for one aswell because its alot of hassle having to download all the hotfixes and then integrate them.
go with the 64bit for certain. it is going to make a big difference in the future. also if you are going to go 64bit make sure u buy a 939pin Chip + motherboard and not an older 754, that should help you future proof your investment.
sounds like a pretty good idea, could use salt for the lite pack as its not that spicy and pepper for the full pack so that it really spices things up.
hdd isnt connected, no beep. all i have connected is the mobo, cpu,hs+fan, ram, keyboard n mouse and my keyboard doesnt have lights on it i have tried with my old motherboard and the new one. i just really cant believe that both cpus could be dead.
havent been able to test the cpus, im hoping to take them to a local pc shop to see if theyll test them for free. most of the time they try to charge £40 for doing crap like that though. i just find it extremely odd that both cpus could be faulty
the motherboard is new and has been tested so i know that its not that, the monitor is also fine. i have also just had the ram checked so i know thats ok too. the psu is also new as the old one blewup on me, the chips are Athlon 1800+ and 2000+. the pc used to work fine for a year and abit, but after a while the pc started cutting out on me for no reason. i worked out that by lowering the clock speeds from the default 1.53 (1800+) and 1.67Ghz (2000+) in the bios it would stop the pc from cutting out. the only real thing left that i can think of that could be causing no video would be both processors are screwed. i can understand the 2000+ being buggered cause it was in when the psu went bang but not the 1800+
