why don't you download Virtual PC from MS (free!!) it will run vista, also it will run in VMware, just make sure you have allocatted at least 256 (better to be at 300) megs of memory or you won't ever get past the PE loading section.
-
NIC chipset would help alot, without that you are lost, also to most XP drivers for NICs will still work, just a matter of how you install them (some must be done maually)

Is my post going against these rules? My bad? unfortuantly it is against the rules. closing the thread,

no problem, you can do the same for any folders in the users profile (documents, pictures, music) -
make it safer by never plugging in a internet network cable then it is safe

from the my documents link on your start menu, right click and go to properties, in properties choose the location tab, hit the move button and navigate to the folder you made for your documents, it will tranfer all links for the my documents to that location -
That the weird part, I am the Admin...LOL OK, I think I got it. I had to change "ownership" for each folder. you are logged on as the administrator? being the admin on a machine not the same as being logged in as the administrator. the permissions the 2 have are totally different

upgrading 5384 to 5536 everything you have will be intact, i am not sure i understand your first question
-
Ez will probably require an upgrade as it wouldn't work in 5472 either (it blue screened a machine) remeber that with this beta software that AV usually isn't such a big deal, new version come out so often that anything that is released for one version of vista won't work with another. give it time Come RC1 everything will come together
-
try logging in as the admin and moving the files in

2000 install with ACPI will allocate the IRQs for itself, if you want the ability to change the IRQs manually you would need to install windows 2000 with ACPI, sadly i tried finding a way to do this but all the links i found where dead

public RC1 should be available Labor day weekend (first week of September)

have you tried running in XP compatability mode? create a shortcut on the desktop and right click on it to go to the properties, there you can set the compatability for the game to that of XP SP2, remeber DX10 runs on vista and rewrote a large part of what was in DX9 there is still support for those features but if the games uses some features in an odd way (i could never get oblivion to run fast ) then the game may not run well under vista, expect alot of patchs from game makers to get their games to run smoothly on Vista.

As entertaining as you guys are Albuquerque and Cygnus, this post has run its course, the question Why Vista has been anwsered well 1. loads of new features, many of them under the hood that you may never hear about but they are there, a lot of reading maybe need to find these out but if you care that much you will read and figure them out. 2. Vista is designed to run on hardware that is considered standard today (most corperate standards are 2.4 - 3.0 ghz with 512 - 1 gig ram) even home computers, check out dell or HP, you would be hard pressed to find a machine that can't run vista. 3. The real problem doesn't go with the operating system, it is with the release time, 4 or 5 years for a release and the Hardware has leaped ahead in technology and power. Vista has to be capable of working with whats out now and what will be coming out in the years ahead.
-
Hardware that is massive today and high by next year will be outdated and slow, Microsoft has to design their OS so it will scale with the hardware that will be out in 5 years and like every OS before it it will be in use for as long as possible. Granted right now that mean you need what is considered "high end" today to run vista(though you really don't anything over a 2.0 with a gig of ram will work). for MS to scale vista so that it will be able to work well with tech that will be coming out soon they have to push what is needed for the OS to run. @thunderbolt your system seems a pretty high end to me, you shouldn't have any issue with vista,
-
thank you for teh note nitro the link is gone, as the Question has already been awnsered i am going to close the topic, Vista will be available again When RC1 becomes available, until then only TAP, offical beta testers, MSDN subscribers and Technet Subscribers can download the builds.

-

Raskren is right, If Aero start with your card once you boot up beta 2, or after you run the preformance assesment tool, then it will work. If not well then a requirement is not met and it will not work

i agree that Vista uses a larger portion on RAM at any given time... bu has one looked at how often it has to page out to the pagefile? heres a test i would like some people to try with me, i will test my PC at home, and at work with vista and XP both, checking through a day of normal work and normal activities (office apps, dev apps etc) running system monitor to check how often that Vista needs to write out to page. Just because vista uses alot of RAM does not mean that it doesn't use it efficently. i know i would prefer that my apps and programs are runnig in RAM vs having to go out to the pagefile all the time. i will write up an experiment i would like people to try who have the ability to test both Vista and XP based on some requirements that i will define lets do some testing

if you have the servers available you can spread them out across DCs, though with only 3 DCs it may not be needed unless you had specific roles you wanted by themselves if you open the ADUC, right click on your DC listed there. you will have the option for operations masters, here you can migrated the roles to another DC after you bring it up in the domain
