The most informative windows based app that i have seen to determine hardware in my views is Sandra Professional 2004.. However nothing beats cracking the seal and reading whats on the mainboard |Drew|

Sounds like a cooling issue to me.... I mena yes i could see how having corp could effect ur games if u cant updates to sp2( compatabilty and all) But if it were me id make sure the GPU and CPU are staying cool |Drew|

Try getting some canned air or if you have a air compressor and blowing the fans out dust can get in the barings and creat rubbing. If its being going on for some time now the barrings may be shot, in which case you can get youself either a new fant just replace that, or get an entire new heatsink and fan combo. IF you try the latter of the 2 options, be very carful, as to the Core of the amd cpu is very fragile. IF you do not install them properly you will kill your cpu. OK im abit confused here...whats the new vid card your refering to? If you are indeed using a newer vid card you may wanna check the spec on the AGP x speed. IF the card is fairly new and the motherboard is very old the X wont be compatable. The industy made a chage in voltages from 1x to 8x ie 3.3v to 1.6v. Some cards wont fit and some have issues working with under or over rated power. As for the new PSU, Powerup is one of those PSU i would not reccomend along with Codegen, PowMAx, RaidMAx and many others. For a solid Computer start at the PSU, get yourself a Enermax,Antec, Allied, or one of the top speced on the market. They are worht the money! |Drew|

Goto a Winxp machine, find msconfig, make a copy of it and then throw on the Win2k rig. It will run just fine |Drew|

I played the beta, but stoped after it went final. I still have some mates that play it alot....it seems to be addictive Anywho was a interesting game and i enjoyed it alot...i bit too basic on the eyes but the game play and MMOG aspects were very cool |Drew|

If your looking for Inel you may wanna to look into the new chipset ie the 915. It uses a 775 BGA socket rather then a 478 pin and is the wave of the furture intel line. THus it will be more upgradeable. Generally you pay alot more for the bleeding edge, but for some reason in this case the new Cpus and Mobos are either the same price or even cheaper! The only piece of hardware that is abit more expensive is the DDr2 but only by 25% or so. Id say gofor the MSI 915p mobo and the 530 or 550 cpu just my 2 cents |Drew|

Depending on what you want to play. IF you want to go all out and play Doom 3 and HL2 Id really reccomend like a 9800xt, x800 or a 6800 or 6800ultra I have tersted alot of cards recently and on high (not ultra high) most of the high end cards choke up... SO like i said be aware of what you are gettign into being a gamer isent cheap If your just looking to get by, the evga 5500 is not bad or the ati 9600xt. they are much more budget..and will definatly show some lag ans jaggies and stuff of that natre... bvut you wont have to shell out an arm or leg jsut my 2cents |Drew|

NO way dood....i agree that there was alot of hype...but i tend not to listen to the BS i just play it and make my own reviews. But i raelly think the Darkness adds to the game...you cant just haul a** everywhere and blow things away...you have to sneak around and make smarter more realistic decisions about entering particular areas. In addition it adds tot he creapy aspect of the game...which must say it definatly tops the charts in that catigory...i havent play a game this freak and startiling since System Shock 2. What it comes down to me, Doom 3 is more like a remastering of DOOM and DOOM 2. I contains the same secnerios, monsters and similar set. Ie rather then the MOons of Mars, its simply on the Planet. They added alot of plot, which i think is important seeing as most games now are all eye candy... All in all i have played more addictive and better games, but for a first person shooter i think Id did well with this one |Drew|

Plz be respectful of the community sir. You were not neglected...people just may not no the answer to your question. None the less, It sounds like you may have some Os corruptions possiably casued by some viruses. Try to run a pdated scanner...Norton is reccomended. IF that does not work pop in your Xp Cd and got run type in "sfc /scannow" AN that will make sure the critical files of WIndows are vaild, not missing or altered. And in the future rather then flaming re-ask the qustion withing the post to rebump it to the top of the recent or active posts. Thankx |Drew|
