Is there a way to put drivers only on a cd? This way after a fresh install and its looking for drivers for this and that I can plop in 1 disc and let windows search and be done. If possible could someone give an easy to follow detailed guide?

Windows xp drivers do work in 2k3. And as far as converting 2k3 to a stand alone workstation with direct x and so forth I had a patch (legal) that turns everything on for you, Sorry I dont know the name of it or a link but you will find it if you google the web

I know the 2k3 boot loader works in xp it works very well. It reduces the comitt and makes xp overall more responsive. This is a good thing if it will work in 2k.

Please dont flame me because I did do a search, I didnt see a post for this. But need some help. How do I edit drvindex. Let me explain when I add things to the drvindex it puts them al in a bunch at the bottom of the page. It supposed to be in alphabetical order. OK what I am trying to do is use xp driver cab and drvindex to update the driver base in windows 2000 and I need to take some files out,put some in,and edit some more. Need some pointers there are some obvious changes to be made like add ntorkrnl from 2k and edit drvindex for this. What other changes are needed to make i work?

I am working on a different project and ran into the same problem. The fix is extract dxdiag from another source and put it into the I386 folder

I use IZ Arc for archiving files. It is a little buggy still but it is very good at archiving files and folders to LZX_ format.

Jeremy and Martijn are both correct it has pictures(uneeded) and many dll's not needed just wanted a streamlined DirectX for windows.

I know this has been answered before but, what will the difference between USP 5.0 and 5.1 be? I am very impressed beyond mere words. This is a very perfession product you have put out. I just wish in my 2k install it would say "USP ___ by Gurgelmeyer" somewhere on it. Hey buddy I wish I could give you a pat on the back. Any chance of making 2k look and sound and act like xp or vista by default?

Daemonforce MSCONFIG was talked about being added to the USP near the start of the project. Seems like you have an attitude problem. I have seen your answer to other post.

I edited these files in the I386 directory with my new screen. But didnt edit the ones in driver cab. I got the old boot screen . I will try again with the files in driver cab too. Is there a way to get the icons from vista or xp in 2k?

Thanks for clearing all this up for me I installed USP 5.0 slipstreamed into 2k hardly any problems I typed in msconfig(missing) hmmmm Can I intergrate this into the install cd? To my surprise the source was about 6 mb smaller with your SP This is cool Hope you feel better soon
