Thank you ... I've used your suggestions and I've noticed improvement on my system and I'm dealing with a old low end graphics card and faulty memory and old drivers. For my old hardware, I've got it 'as good as its gonna get' and just making the most of it while it lasts. Take good care :)

I wonder why the ads aren't enough to cover the costs to run this forum. I along with many can't afford to donate, but am wondering if we could bring down the costs somehow. Yes, i know, going with *cheaper* or free options would be less secure and private and many would have issues with that, alone.

Honestly, I don't think there are many good options from what I see. Just throwing this out there ... to cut back on cost(s), would it be easy (or woth it) to switch over to lower or free forum software?

I know its hard sometimes (most times) but appreciate when we feel stronger and latch on and do what you can to stay active in 'in motion' Hope that makes sense. Nearly impossible now to find one and I've held on to only 2 that I created a long time ago that didn't require a phone. I don't own a smart phone and don't want one and my phone is only for emergency; period. No data on it and no house landline since maybe 2006. Just wanted to say I liked your posting because you linked a helpful tool - not that you're having hard drive issues.

I know how you feel ... I've done everything everyone has told me to do here (accept the full format recommended by @Dixel) and I still can not get my computer to remap those sectors. Victoria wouldn't even do it, but that is a great utility @jaclaz as I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it here, so thank you. This is a ST3750640NS and I'm always surprised the wheels haven't fallen off if this old clunker.
