  1. Just FYI.. This is the event. The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 800706BA from line 44 of d:\comxp_sp3\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error. Also, still having trouble with VSS, but I'm not too bothered by it. Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x80040206. Cleaned this up considerably since I joined this forum.
  2. Thanks everyone for all that helpful information. I was not only able to clear the majority of even, I've resolved them and others I was overlooking. Hardly checked the event log, guilty as charged. Still, just this pesky COM+ application error remains arrgh!! Been researching all day and can't resolve it just yet, determined though :) Coming up totally clean with security and system events now! Thanks again!
  3. A little concerned about that dell driver R112439; I couldn't care less about rkill, just deleted it. I can't even see that driver in use on my system though, but I'm not sure if I've checked everywhere and in all the right place to know for certain. Ran a scan today again just out of paranoia (oops... I mean to be cautious lol), and got the same results already in quarantine. C:\Documents and Settings\DELL\My Documents\Downloads\ClamWinPortable\Data\quarantine\nvtcp.sys.infected: Win.Trojan.Agent-429181 FOUND C:\Documents and Settings\DELL\My Documents\Downloads\ClamWinPortable\Data\quarantine\rkill.exe.infected: Win.Trojan.Agent-6473689-0 FOUND is anyone here familiar with this one? Maybe ClamWin of overzealous, because no other scanner was picking this one up, both - Malwarebytes and Comodo come up completely clean.
  4. Just ran ClamWin (portable), took forever to scan entire system, only found 2 culprits. Not bad, I'm impressed. C:\DELL\Drivers\R112439\Ethernet\nvtcp.sys: Win.Trojan.Agent-429181 FOUND C:\Documents and Settings\DELL\My Documents\Downloads\ClamWinPortable\Data\quarantine\nvtcp.sys.infected: Win.Trojan.Agent-429181 FOUND C:\Documents and Settings\DELL\My Documents\Downloads\rkill.exe: Win.Trojan.Agent-6473689-0 FOUND Must not need that driver all that bad, still chuggin' along here. I won't likely go with real time. AVG and Avast really slows things down too much.
  5. Getting it here, as well. No problem allowing revenue as I can't donate currently. Using New Moon (PM) and didn't even know I was blocking ads and that without an extension it was capable. I could be wrong though and will look it over later and see if its something I doing. Great site - grateful it here !!
  6. Okay.. was having some trouble with some youtube vids, I'm using a pretty strict prefs.js just to see what this browser can do in the most basic forum, went through and just reset everything searching about:conifg pertaining to video (form false back to their defaults) and no more trouble so far. user_pref("media.hardware-video-decoding.failed", false) user_pref("media.navigator.video.enabled", false) user_pref("media.peerconnection.video.enabled", false); <--- don't like enabling any peerconnection settings if I don't have to - not sure that was even causing the issue though. user_pref("media.video_stats.enabled", false); So far its functioning quite well overall
  7. Watching this right now.. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls022466419/videoplayer/vi63290137?ref_=hm_cc_main_722_i_1 Not sure what player the site is using, but its whatever the default is. Since I'm new and testing this browser, I'm not using any plugins. I did this because I wanted to prevent it from pick up old (insecure) plugins FF does from XP until I can get rid of ones I don't use (Old Windows Presentations Foundation in my case), so I just toggled to false.. plugin.scan.plid.all
  8. Still on the fence, whether or not to go with SP4; I might still. Would be worth taking the time to manually install each update while we can. Thanks for the advice here!!
  9. Will just go without SP4 then! Quick question, again, I'm new here.. Is this the forum that is sister to here ryanvm.net? Will keep that in mind if this forum is down. Thanks in advance!!
  10. Was going to ask this very question - answered above - thank you!! Will keep FF 52 going for a little longer than abandon it and try give Roytam's Basilisk a whirl along with New Moon! A pity.. Maxthon works ever so beautifully, why do I feel its spying in the worst way?! Wasn't crazy over Slimjet really.
  11. Added those 2 reg entries (disabling RC4, and DES) and got another 4 updates tonight right through the automatic update feature without using IE at all (IE8 sort of gives me the creeps to go online to do even that much). Maybe I'll spend some time and manually update according to that list a few pages back. I have this system heavily disabled, locked down and thinned out whats not being used, so perhaps I won't need all those updates. Should get what I can while I can (Jan 2019 I understand), I guess. I don't really need to do much with this system anyway, old hardware, not worth upgrading; just keep it running. Would rather invest in a new laptop with modern capabilities. Malwarebytes Version 3.5.1.2522 works just fine here. Also.. FYI, comodo cleaning essentials (portable) also is working just fine.
  12. Welcome my friend :) Glad to be here as well. Hoping to learn new things and keep up to date on the 'latest and greatest'.
  13. Hello.. I created an account here to thank you for this awesome browser! Used PM years ago (stopped when they dropped support for xp) and stumbled upon this place just a few days ago and glad I did! Working quite well so far! Take good care everyone and glad to be a member of the forum :)
