You could try repairing your XP installation. Reboot from your XP CD, follow instructions as though you were doing a fresh install and about 3-4 screens in you have the option to Repair your current installation. Don't worry, it won't delete any User Accounts or Applications; it just removes the Windows files and puts them back again (sort of). Actually, before you try that you could try ... C:\>sfc /scannow
