  1. So far it says "Not applicable to my computer" on Windows 8. Now I have removed IE 10 using the Add/Remove Components. I will try restoring it back, and seeing if that allows me to upgrade. I hope so. If anyone has IE 10 intact on Windows 8 and tries to upgrade to IE 11, does it work? (Just tried the Embedded 8 version - still no go)
  2. Typing from Edge Portable right now. Very VERY fast. All I wish I could do now is: (a) set tabs below the address bar (b) change load characteristics and rendering delay (akin to content.timer and nglayout.initialpaintdelay settings in Firefox)
  3. Beautiful. I will try it later today.
  4. Is there a way to download directly (immediately) without all of the "Notify Me" nonsense?
  5. Now Edge was natively a UWP application, right? So on Windows 8, does Edge Canary work in Metro, or as a desktop application?
  6. I just wish it would run on Windows RT. I'm happy with Firefox Quantum on Windows 8, but for the Surface tablet, IE 11 is sooooooo slow! I wonder if an RT compilation of Chromium based Edge would improve it.
  7. Ouch! I hope IE 11 will work for Server 2012.
  8. Where is the URL for this @Stefan43?
  9. Wow! Can't believe it's finally all over with. So what will most of you do now? I mean, I run Windows 8 but only with updates up to November 2017. How long do you think XP will be usable?
  10. That's actually damned clever
  11. I thought that Skype Web now only works with Chrome and Edge (Blink) https://www.ghacks.net/2019/03/08/the-new-skype-for-web-does-not-work-in-firefox-or-opera/
  12. Sorry - in Canada we actually do just call it "hydro". It's Canadian-specific slang. But yes, you're "technically" correct And better yet, I have a Samsung SyncMaster 213T 4x3 screen that is 22". So I have the wide-screen benefit for web pages horizontally, but I have amazing vertical real estate. It's nice to view a lot of information on one screen without scrolling So what was that Iris, TV, thingy, what was that (I'm just kidding)
  13. Sorry, but nowadays - CRTs take up more hydro, weigh more to move around, take up more desk real estate, and aren't as clear. It's OK to hasten the disappearance of the CRT. The flat screen provides so many more benefits and used ones cost next to nothing.
  14. Also I want to see if an ARM version of Edge Browser will released for Windows RT 8.1. (I've never really got a clear answer to this, but where is the best place to post about Surface RT tablets and Windows RT questions?)
  15. Speaking of which, Studio Tax 2018 (also a Canuckistan tax package) works as well on Vista as well. (it does require .NET 4 though).
  16. @Mcinwwl I don't possess the "drive" to install off all of those floppies. First, I don't physically have a micro-floppy drive. Next, even if I did, I am so used to optical disc installations, that I couldn't stand the patience required to sit through floppy installations anymore.
  17. v56 is still Australis/XUL. There might be some XUL extensions that do not work in v56, but it is the old model. There is some WebExtension cqapability in v56.
  18. For those few of us that use a Windows RT Surface tablet, it would be actually nice to have Edge released on Windows RT 8.1. I really wish it was part of the rollout. It would make Windows RT immensely more useful. As it goes, it's a decent tablet for basic needs.
  19. I think @win32 gets the last .... "Word"
  20. Well @jaclaz, the best puns should incorporate a "facepalm" moment. So I'll happily take terrible.
  21. I'm not sure I possess "the drive" to do it! :p (thank you, thank you)
  22. Wow! Even OS/2 Warp 3 was installed from less floppies than that ....lol. I never installed Windows 95 or higher from floppies, just CD-ROMs
  23. Well I'm glad to be wrong then. I'm not running Vista any longer.
  24. Apparently the legacy Malwarebytes v3.5 doesn't update anymore on Vista. https://www.vistax64.com/threads/vista-no-longer-supported-by-some-security-software.304411/ (Added today at the bottom of the thread)
