this is bul***** why do so many vcpp 6 and vb6 communities bitching still today of leaving compatibility with future NT vista, and seven needed .net 2 for DWM, MIL and Mediacentre eight and ten, need it for DWM, MIL, and METRO appx's since they are WPF - and worst thing with .net is that user MUST "keep up" with versions and thus new OS there is no legacy support unless dev "recompiles" (which isn't really compiling) the stupid app.net to use lower version IF possible since v2 doesn't have some functions that 3 has, anyone doing their crap within 4.x and makes it, users with v2 won't be able to use it so lets download bunch of new crap libraries that are useless... with NORMAL visual studio's all you had to do is install ~800 kb of runtimes and everything works ! theres nothing about .net that is easier but it was MS's way to kill Java and again enforce their crap onto users and bravo for them they managed...

mmm just to correct you win "10" isn't borderless, its just reduced to 1 px, or their intern hack to 0 px i know XP had same s*** applied but you couldn't go below 2px windows theme engine (not dwm), is simply not as like OSX's windows frames are actually just classic shelled, painted and they will never die/dissapear, its just visual trick even on XP you can theme them to be invisible, but they are still there

dunno about vista but for win7 users, they can jump to W7EPOS but rest assured vista,7 and 8 will be thrown in mud theres little that community can do about it XP only got lucky coz of WEPOS, maybe 7 will too depends of MS's counter-measures regarding patches but vista is a no go

productivity and speed is debatable it all comes to what kind of CPU and how much RAM you have and how much have you tweaked the OS I found win7 to be in WORK more productive as i can jump from place to place faster also with new taskbar things are no more clunky and there is no need to expand taskbar like in XP into 4 rows then again XP has better File Manager sorting and easier to use system options - at the end it all comes to preference in fact on my PC that is from ~2006 XP lagged even if it was nLite'd while win7 performs better for unknown reason

Metro crap will live through harsh times when was it ? last week when MS said they will be KILLING so called Edge browser in Metro "version" and deliver it as Desktop version only ? Metro is good only for Tablets and their crappy phones (yes I had one its disaster) and as I always repeat myself as broken record, but those with any brain can figure out that Metro "app" which isn't app at all, is just crippled down version of Desktop app, its shit XHTML+CSS+JS+parts of .net how can anyone expect advanced app from that crap ? but nooooooooo its modern and fresh so it must be good and it will be future.... yeah...

AFAIK silverlight made crap relies on WPF which is one of .net core componenets therefore I doubt they will abandon it

and what is difference between internal and external plugin ? they're both plugins ... you can't watch "html5" video without browser internally supporting h264
