  2. Incase anyone has been watchin this topic, yes you are online at T-12 (cmdlines.txt) I was able to make a batch file to download 2 files of the net using wget.. one hard coded and one using system variables (%homedrive%)... i was also able to ping google.com and start up internet explorer at googles homepage.
  3. since i've found it i've been playin around with it a little, for the people that make tutorials here for step by step instruction pictures, i could see it being used. I personally like the Standard Text Editor, because i don't make too many changes in color of text, location of pictures, etc.. and I would rather see [ img]http://www.google.com/intl/en/images/logo.gif[ /img] then see a google logo where i'm trying to type.

  7. this is probably the link that was refferred to in the previous post. the unattended section of msfn has been changed so all the old links don't work. http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/51/
  8. theres a file called SVCPACK.IN_ in the i386 folder, did you delete it? "Save this as svcpack.inf in C:\XPCD\I386\. You must delete svcpack.in_ in the I386 directory otherwise Windows XP Setup will not use the svcpack.inf file. "
  9. i believe its soemthing to do with encrypting the password, and the ISP isn't unencrypting it.. or your comp isn't.. not really sure whats causing it as i haven't used dial-up in like 5 years.

  12. its not bad tech support, its people not taking the time to search the forums.. I came up with the result in my last post by hitting search -> "Windows Genuine" that wasn't hard was it? it been discussed before, and you're supposed to search the forums before you post.. judging that this guy has 1 post, he probably didn't search but just decided to make an account and post.
  13. could ya send me the link to this MacID batch file? incase i ever need it later on. thanks
  14. wow lol. i don't even remeber posting that last night i was so tired.. reading it now and i have no idea why i mentioned getmac in my post since you had mentioned it in your post.. anyways.. for anyone that may still want this.. you'll have to have getmac (comes default with windows... mine didn't come with it for some reason... stupid emachines..) FOR /F %%A IN ('getmac') DO SET MAC=%%A and that will set the bottom most mac address to %MAC% works great for systems with only 1 network card. I could probably go further and have it validate against the nbtstat -a ipaddresshere to get the "true" MAC.. but i'm getting tired..and i'm sure we all don't want another stupid reply by me
  15. theres a diffrence? lol.. feel like a newb now.. but i had to go search for it.. i personally have never used it.
  16. hah i remeber when that was on TV like 2 years ago. funny though.. cause no matter how big your wallet is people will still throw a pie in your face i dunno where the talk of linux came into this... i don't see penguin assassins attackin him.........
  17. solutions.. 1. If they're using IE and not too smart.. you can do this: http://familyinternet.about.com/cs/interne...disabledown.htm but downloading with firefox, wget, download accelerators.. etc.. will still be allowed, and you'd have to undo this every time they needed a file. 2. install a program on the computer in question to limit the bandwidth.. but i doubt if its someone elses comp that they'll let you do this. 3. setup a computer between the modem and router (comp with 2 ethernet cards) and run some sort of program on it to deny downloads.. 4. setup a domain/group policies?? not sure if you could do this.. but all comps would have to be able to join domains.. so Linux, Windows XP PRO, Windows 2000, Windows2003. *Windows XP Home does not allow joining of domains!*
  18. The registry area you posted is for the Windows XP "My Pictures ScreenSaver" 1770 in hex is 6000 or 6 seconds the Google one is located at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Picasa\GBScreensaver_d\Preferences and the 107 and 2004 i was askin about was the Dialog resources in Resource hacker.. 107 - the dialog that has the Login & Password.. which i was guessing for the password protect for screensavers.. but i can't get my password dialog to show up on any of my screensavers lol, so not sure about that one. 2004 - the one that has BurnIN, not sure what thats for.. thought at first i had screwed up the install and thats why they didn't show up.. but they don't show up on my other comp using your method. oh well i'm not complaining, still works like a charm
  19. awesome didn't know that. now i have somewhere else i can search for when i start trying to learn C++/C#

  21. its a problem caused by IPv6. google search for fe80 brought back some results.. but none of which from what i saw of what causes it or how to fix it.
  22. if you have xp pro i'd suggest using the GUI, its way to easy to misstype something or forget to add yourself with permissions.. then end up locking yourself out. just my suggestion.
  23. LOL or you could learn "how to" from this guy.... http://www.dumpalink.com/media/1132661214/..._in_a_classroom
