  1. Search assistant dog... lol is it sad that i didn't even have to think about that? *edit to add a little tip i read somewhere else* a regsrv32 thing to remove it and bring back the classic windows 2000 look search. regsvr32 /s /u %windir%\srchasst\srchui.dll - Remove that stupid dog. regsvr32 /s %windir%\srchasst\srchui.dll - Bring the dog back
  2. I wouldn't say it's impossible, with the right knowledge about how windows works you could do it. I can't post how to do it because of forum rules, but i have looked up how to do pretty much this same exact thing so i know it is possible.
  3. ahh thanks for mentioning that LLXX. The PDF's i look at are usually Ebooks at 125% zoom and have the navigation on the side pretty narrow.
  4. sorry if this takes the original thread off topic, but wouldn't it be more wise to use the Freeware Utility "Foxit PDF Reader"? it's standalone and to me is a lot better then Adobe Acrobat. It's written in c++ so you may also need the msvcp71.dll (as thats the runtime dll for c++ apps)
  5. *Solved* knew i'd get this fixed lol. guess this just gives me more of a reason to hate download managers. had installed a download manager, Fresh Devices - Fresh Download, (Uninstalled it but it left the BHO) and it had a BHO on IE guess it saw Firefox after i updated it hooked in to it as well. anyways, sent firefox over the network (worked after i uninstalled and reinstalled from 1.0.7 to 1.5.0.4) and downloaded hijackthis... removed the BHO and IE and Firefox now work as intended. thx =)
  6. Internet Cache has been deleted on IE and still have the problem. can't clear the cache on Firefox, because none of the menus will show up.
  7. *SOLVED* wow really surprised i haven't been able to figure this out, but did some searchin here and on google with no answers.. When i open Internet Explorer or Firefox the Page is completly blank, yet the title bar text changes to reflect the fact that it's actually at a site. if i press "Ctrl+U" (view source) it comes up with complete source and everything.. even .html files saved on my comp don't show up.. don't know whats causing this, but firefox was working fine till i updated my plugins (IE was already not working cause i tried to do windows update earlier that day) anyone know what might be causing this? Specs: Windows XP Home SP1 Latest Version of IE (6.something) Firefox 1.0.7 (will update and update this post after)
  8. lol never heard this joke =) *anyone else notice the date go from 2004 to 2006.... lol*
  9. I workout every 30 minutes... as i get up and get me something to eat... lol. probably a bad habit, but last time i really worked out was my sophmore year of highschool, like 5 or 6 years ago haha.
  10. lol nice. would be fun to do that to someone..
  11. lol nice one. except the californian one.. 19 years living there and no one i knew matched that lol. still good though
  12. yea didn't occur to me to just google up "printf" figured it would've been more complex lol. anyways, think i made the final touches i wanted heres a screenshot after my changes for kicks. basically all that was changed, was lined up the data. shows all IP Addresses associated with the local host and displays them..
  13. oohh didn't know i could do that thanks for the link, never seen that site before *bookmarks*
  14. hello, haven't been on these forums lately.. but been tryin to learn some more into C++ since i never really "understood" the language. anyways... i found Source Code of a packet sniffer that i want to improvise on to learn from. *yes i'm retaining all credits lol* so i decided to compile it after adding wsock32.lib and w2_32.lib to the linker. and first thing i noticed that i wanted to change was the line up of the data.. Screenshot of me browsing download.com so.. my question is.. is there anyway to line up the output so it's all in nice columns that? i tried \t (tab) but it gives me a space of about 5 characters but does line it up.. heres a snip of the source code from the link above. Made by KT. memset(&SockAddr, 0, sizeof(SockAddr)); SockAddr.sin_addr.s_addr = iphdr->SrcIP; printf("Packet From: %s ", inet_ntoa(SockAddr.sin_addr)); memset(&SockAddr, 0, sizeof(SockAddr)); SockAddr.sin_addr.s_addr = iphdr->DstIP; printf("To: %s ", inet_ntoa(SockAddr.sin_addr));
  15. looks like pretty much all firewall software disables the Windows Firewall. I use Outpost and never once touched my ICF settings and its set to "Off". and as mentioned by Lus, installing more then 1 firewall on 1 O/S isn't recommended.
  16. its a Linux LiveCD, so you burn it to a CD, then reboot the computer with the disc in.
  17. you'll have to find the COA or purchase a new copy of windows. unless your harddrive is still intact and hasn't been formatted, then you could make a BartPE CD and with the plugin KeyFinderPE you might have a chance at getting the key back. but thats only if your harddrive still works and hasn't been formatted/erased.
  18. 2008, new account, *ponders..* no need for an WLMe account, but thanks for the offer all i use is aim and probably only IM service i'll ever use
  19. ok, i've finally broke down and slipstreamed SP2 onto my SP1 XPCD (started from scratch).. and now i'm faced with a dilema on hotfixes, and managing them. With my current setup, i install AutoPatcher(December 2005 Full) and the Autopatcher(January 2006 Update) with the /S switch.. then i run the AutoPatcher main executable (in C:\Program files\autopatcher\) with the switches /noeula /noreboot /updates:PathToMyDefaults.ini.. but i haven't figured out how to do that unattended (theres an /unattend:t# switch.. but that overrides my defaults.ini settings) using this method i have an additional 24 or so minutes of installation, plus about 270 megs for AutoPatcher...but it's easier to update in my opinion. so, how do you guys update your XPCD's... I haven't tried XPCreate, but i have tried integrating with Nlite + RyanVM's Update Pack.. but that was like 8 months ago lol. is there any easy way of keeping up-to-date on hotfixes without having to worry about what hotfixes are installed, what hotfixes might be missing, and various switches about integrating and whatnot.
  20. technically i would say no, because it's not a seperate computer. Source: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/eula.mspx (the same applies with XP Pro, but with "Two" processors... If you're paranoid like me about constant hits to microsoft about new installations, use a firewall and set your VMWare to "NAT" and block it from your firewall.. or disable the VMWare's Network usage all together.
  21. hmm let me take a stab at this... Wolf7448? why a new account? and uhh.. welcome back to MSFN
  22. I silent install the K-Lite codec pack with no switches by following step 3 of the -makeunattened screen. haven't ran into a problem with it yet.
  23. normal NTSC is 29.97, but since i converted it to PAL 4 years ago, the FPS is 25, if i try going back up to 29.97 it will come out really crappy.. so the only way to get that to play normally on an NTSC T.V. is to take the FPS down to 23.976. from what i've read that is, i'm not even sure if 23.976 would play on my NTSC T.V. I'll try that program you suggested, thanks.
