  2. I've never rated a topic but I do notice what a topic has been rated. I don't use the rating in any form or fasion to determine the strength or weakness of a topic. I use it to see if I can guess who rated it high or low. Just a useless mental game. I never win. My interest in a topic is obviously what is in the title and description followed by the number of responses and pages a topic gets. So, I have read through some of your topic Aegis and come back to it numerous times as it grows as I do your 'competitor's'. The only time I would put any credence in a rating is if I knew who had rated it and I held that persons opinion in high regard. That would be a lot of people here but it is the only way I could give it any value. DL
  3. And keeping this thread off topic- Backing up and backup media is going to be a big issue down the road. Right now, we just copy to one type of media or another and don't really consider the shelf life or I should say a lot of people don't. A lot aren't even aware that there is a life span on disks. Many old classic movies were lost to being on celuloid film and now they are gone forever. It wasn't a consideration at the time. Ten-fifteen years down the road and we are going to start hearing people making noise about how their precious memories have flaked away with their disks(read this as a possible opportunity. They are going to need to get them recovered if they have not completely decomposed). My 2 cents. What do you consider the best/affordable media currently in use for long term storage? (Yeah, yeah, I'll do a search) DL

    Bar Joke

#2 A priest and a child molester walk into a bar. Then a second person walks in. (Normally you would be thinking of two individuals in the first sentence but some priests have been found guilty of child molestation) #3 Three blondes walk into a bar. You think the first would notice. (Referring to a bar or rod as opposed to a bar in which you get a drink. This joke is good for testing someone's blondeness<DL gets suspicious about Dje'>) #10 The joke starts out like a joke so the bartender asks if it as a joke, taking it in a different direction than you would assume. Funny, cause it's silly. DL
  6. Not necceseraly the best but I use A-Z Clipboard. Saves 30 clips of text, graphics and web bookmarks. Bring up the clipboard window, hover your mouse over a clip and it will show up in the thumbnail window. Click the clip and it is pasted into your application. Prntscrn is saved, alt-prntscrn saves the active window. Their homepage is gone but it can be downloaded (hold on, dead link) Oh, and it's free. Dead links on this one, no matter where I tried. Ok, checked out another one. It sounded similar and I could only see one difference once I installed it. Odd. This one has a button to try the pro version that expands the capabilities of the original window. This one is called 101 Clips 5.00 found Here. Installed and tried for a short period of time. Like I said, it is about identical to the one I use. DL

    Ozone

I had read a similar article to this one a long time ago. The other thread in this forum about global warming reminded me of this. Ozone link. DL
  8. @alsiladka-Yes, sweet, but not if you do a tiny amount of Googling on Disney/child labor/ illegal/ subliminal. Not a pretty sight. I went to Epcot years ago. It was a complete and total ripoff. Disney= . DL

  12. @ Jeremy-Maybe an old thread, but I still came back. Thank you for the information, in particular about MS Office. I spent hours searching and backing up stuff off that computer. I don't use it so it is layed out the way two others use it. What a hash. Thank you again. Cheers, DL
  13. Very interesting reading. Looks like his past is popping up on him. DL
  14. Humorous but more true than funny. DL
  15. Everyone gets hit with attacks eventually. Wether they are successful or not is the difference. I run FF with the 'NoScript' extension. I give each site permission based on how safe I feel the sight to be. Vids and swf files, I download if I can. I don't like it when they do a redirect so I run them on a program that has no permission to connect to the net. I don't know enough about the contents of these things and for me, the possibility seems to be there that something could be transported in with them. I give each the hairy eyeball and make a choice. It's the same with anything in Windows for me. If it doesn't get used then I will try to turn it off, unplug it or delete it. DL
  16. Hi adam9275, Yep, that is quite a jump. But you have jumped to the right place. Welcome to MSFN. DL
  17. I'm with Gouki. It's funny until it gets pushed to far. I have no qualms about scaring a little kid or any one else if they would do the same to me if given the chance. A niece and nephew, 8 and 9 years old, jumped out from behind a car and gave me a fright once. I took a year and a half to get even with each. They knew I would do it eventually and most of the fun was them asking me 'when was i going to do it?'. Interesting to see how the comments are fairly well split between opinions. DL
  18. Dang!!!!! Some of you are a tad younger than I would have guessed. Good for you. Me, I'm old enough to be Daddy to most of you. DL
