  1. H Good question, but this is about wether there is a conspiracy or not. Not about who. ( and I'll destroy the end of the story for you. There ain't no conspiracy. ) Good sarcasm can be used to reinforce a point. No problem there. I understand that there was little in the way of concrete in the WTCs as it was used only in floor slabs. The elevator shafts were wrapped in a few sheets of gypsum board. Of the concrete in the floor slabs, what was it's composition and how was it applied? Was there air-entrainment to lighten the load? Addatives to increase strenth and reduce the thickness needed? Organic compounds can be added to concrete to increase it's flexibility and strength (not increase it's heat tollerance). Below is an nice brief overview of smoldering- Smoldering. and this for weeks on end and these are 'typical values'. One of the reasons for the firemen to be hosing down the pile was to keep the surface temperature down so workers could work. If lots of things in the environment are smoldering, things are going to get hot. From what I understand, the signal given off by aircraft is used in locating it. And this is used by other aircraft in air collision avoindance also. Because their job is to look for incoming stuff? (yeah, yeah, a little sarcasm) Well, to be honest, I didn't and don't know if they have one. If they didn't, I can imagine they do now. New policy or properly enforcing some old ones. We weren't jumpy before.Steven Jones- He's one of the people in the bickering I referred to. Here. DL
  2. Welcome to MSFN imwaiting. You will find what you appreciate in the forums. DL
  3. I was going to post yesterday but there was lightning in the area. Anyway, I just went out for a scrounge around the web to look up stuff on th WTC's, NIST(they analyzed some of the debri from the collapses), and similar stuff. Good Gawd!!!!! The stuff that's out there. There is the 'No Plane Theory' (because the author's analasys showed that the tail of an aircraft didn't slow down properly on impact. I don't know how it's supposed to slow down), fusion weapons , thermate explosives and the list goes on. There is even bickering between the different theorists. Back on to the main part of this thread. I don't suppose that linking to a periodical's web page on this topic will to any good if the periodical is under the influence of Big Brother. And I'll venture you have probably already read it. But here it is anyway. It addresses numerous points. Points I am not inclined to go chasing after. I recently saw a tv program on the ironworkers, who normally work at building the buildings, that were brought in to pull the tons of steel out of the rubble. They worked there for months. They know how buildings are built like nobody's business. I never heard of anything where they saw anything amiss. How can so many people be involved and so little comes from those that were there? Sure, a lot of people can say this doesn't look normal or that doesn't look normal and reverse engineer a situation where the streetsweepers clean up the street, therefore there is a coverup. To many things about this situation are unique. Exceedingly tall structures, fully fueled large aircraft and the aircraft flying in at cruise speed (450 mph). Why can't the outcome be unique also? I saw the NIST reports you refered to and they did show the walls bending in and not out as the first link I gave stated. That first link was published in Dec. of 2001. Also, it has been said that the towers should have toppled and not pancaked. One of the NIST reports shows one of the towers toppling above the aircraft impact zone. ---- npr. National Public Radio. I won't even say anything about them. Foxnews on the 650,000. I'll grant that the numbers are going to be high but not that high. "discourage the terrorists"? You make it sound like the coalition forces killed them all. Even the participants of the survey you refer to attribute 31% to coalition forces (how many of the 31% were 'insurgents'?) and I am inclined to think their view, ahhhhh never mind. DL
  4. "Some research by the NIST Fire research lab may give us some insight into the performance of High Strength concrete under fire conditions. NIST noted that normal strength concrete loses about one quarter of its strength at about 300 Degrees C. It loses about three quarters of its strength at 600 C. HSC appears to be subject to significant explosive spalling between 300 and 650 degrees C. This event could lead to premature collapse during a fire Some experiments indicate that the rate of explosive spalliing is related to rate of temperature rise, aggregate composition, thermal induced mechanical stresses, and moisture content of the concrete." From this site. This site says everything I believe and in a much more educated way than I could ever express about the World Trade Centers. The thought of orchestrating terrorists, explosives, fires, agents, disinformationists, flights and the murder of thousands is, well, unbelievably ridiculous. As to the witnesses, people make the worst ones. DL
  5. A sibling of mine was recently diagnosed with the same disease. Fortunately, medication seems to be holding it off. But it is a lifetime thing. Just glad it wasn't Chrone's disease. Having followed your story, it brought the reality home. Glad to see you are at a point of just having scars visible. Best wishes and thank you, DL
  6. You're welcome. Now tell us what is going on? DL

  8. And another way to think of it is that they are trying to protect Iraq's major resource. They would have a tough time of it without any oil. When has this not been done? Unless he is lying, his website says he is governing the state of Florida. Their objective was to get all aircraft out of the sky. Trying to separate the wheat from the chaff (sorry for the pun). There were no aircraft flying into the country. They were all domestic commercial aircraft. It was a whole new ball of wax. They wanted all aircraft out of the sky. Let's see. I don't believe that any building, that tall has ever had that many tons of steel, aluminum, plastic, jet fuel and human tissue injected into it at 450 mph before. The aircraft sheared out numerous support columns (and the buildings were still standing at this point!!!), the impact and velocity of all the debri peeled off the fire retarding compounds that are coated onto the steel to help protect it from heat and a lot vaporized fuel was injected into the core of the structures and providing an unknown amount of heat (I'm sure someone has calculated it by now). I don't think that the jet fuel was the only thing burning at this point so you are going to have smoke of all colors coming out and people who survived this bit of horror crawled to the open windows for air and help. And a lot of these unfortunate people lept to their deaths to escape that fire. The ground around the towers was littered with bodies before the collapse. "isolated pockets of fire", give me a break. To the core, several floors. Massive damage. 1300 degrees F. Hmmm, and that was on the outside at hotspots. You say that steel loses half it's strength at 1,100 degrees. I am going to guess that the amount of steel put into that building at that height was not double the amount they thought it required. All that was needed was for the steel to give just ever so fractionally. Once the structure started to move just one little bit, it wouldn't even need any more heat. Nothing would stop that many tons of steel, concrete, glass and everything else that was in there from continuing it's decent. ABSOLUTELY nothing. I was suprised by how far they didn't go into the basement. Falling at freefall speed. I don't know what speed that would be. Know-it-alls also said the a dragster would never accelerate faster than a certain amount. Grease monkeys proved them wrong. The buildings accelerated on their own. You can see that in videos. I also recall some one posting something about there being explosives going off on the floors below the collapsing portion of the buildings and showed windows blowing out (and there were only one or two windows doing that on each floor). Obviously they had never seen a balloon pop when you stomp on it. You might want to look up what a "HAT" fire is. They can't put those out either and they aren't covered by tons and tons and tons of steel and concrete. "terrorists"? Suspicious characters. And what if it were 2000? "The Chicago Tribune, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The BBC and The LA Times" reputable? No, they aren't. And? How many is several? They were trying to hide their identities anyway. "FBI HAS NO HARD EVIDENCE", I believe that has been proven otherwise lately and no, I am not going to go chasing down the info. Unfortunately, the surviving firemen who have been interviewed and the radio calls never state or show anything like that. I love a good conspiracy theory. DL
  9. I just want one MacBook movie like that one. DL
  10. That's what it is all about. Welcome sephiroth. DL
  11. Another thing about HP printer cartridges is that they have a number given to them that the printer can read and it won't let you refill a cartridge and use it. The printer will hold that number in memory for two cartridge changes before the number can be used again. Here are some pages showing you how to reset your printer: Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 DL

  14. Yes and no. If you are beta testing, then that is all there is to it. If a product is going to be payware, then you are aware of that at the beginning, so it is your choice. But, I do think that beta testers should be given some consideration. The more a beta tester can help, the more consideration (I can't imagine how that could be made to work). If a beta or any final product has stipulations, then it is still a choice you can make as to wether you want to use it or not. As to activation, well, I guess that sticks in my craw also. But it is a choice you make. Use it or not. The only reason that activation or any of the other tactics exist is because of piracy and dishonest people and honorable people end up toting the line. One thing in betas of payware that really bugs me is when you know it is going to be payware and producers of said payware don't give a hint as to the final price. $20 or $2000? I'm not interested in beta testing and therefore learning to use a program that in the long run I won't be using because I can't or won't pay the price. DL
  15. I voted the same way but I do think the answere is fairly clear. Board games, cards, dice and a mix like DD have no graphics, just visual representations and if need be, your mind fills in the blanks. Video footage just takes you through cityscapes, wilderness, etc. as a passenger. Computer games are blending both the environment and control. If the gameplay is poor, then there is no point in playing. If the environment is poor then there is no point in playing also because you might as well be playing on a board. You can get immersed in a board game and your mind paints the scenery but computer games are in real time and you get thoroughly immersed. How often to you hear this: 'Hey, Bob, where are you?' 'I'm passing the tomb, I'll be there in a minute.' Not: 'My toon is waiting for your toon......' Something like that anyway. DL
  16. @N1K- If it needs explaining, 'to draw blood' is to take a sample of blood with a hypodermic needle. 'To draw' can mean to extract. DL

  18. Couple of years ago, my thumbdrive went bad. Data appeared corrupted and it looked like it had a file system that was messed up. The stick was new and I was quite disappointed. I looked all over for something that would repaire the problem. No luck. Then one day, here at MSFN and I forget who, someone mentioned that thumbdrives need sufficient power. Hmm, tried a different usb slot. Bingo. Fixed. DL

I think ebay's philosophy is that most people are honest and they base their practices on that. Sometimes you get pinched. I don't think that recovering their money at the cost of the honest/victim is very honerable. DL
