  1. Oooh, dead cells, not good. Ok, so at this point I know that your battery has cells. A little info for you and anyone else that has batteries with cells. As I understand it, you do not want to run your battery down! From what I have read in the past and how I now treat any batteries I have with multiple cells is that once the battery starts to perform weakly (I don't know how you would determine that with your comp.) is to stop using it! What I have read is that juice from stronger cells will backflow to the weaker cell and permanently damage it. I don't know if this is what really happens or how but it is the way I treat my batteries and I am getting longer life out of my batteries. The second thing is, if you are charging your battery and the indicator says it is charged, it probably isn't. The sensor is thermally tripped and the batteries get warmer as they charge. So, leave them to charge more because they have more capacity than indicated. Don't try to get a good charge off a battery that is heated (like if you left it in a car that's parked in the sun). That's all I understand. DL
  2. Ok, I'll take into account that you know what you are doing and so I am not talking about you in any way. I am just talking about Black Ice Defender and maybe something has changed with the proggy lately. I and some other people I know used to use it. We are fairly ignorant, so that has to be taken into account. One person got hacked, viruses, caused gameplay problems for some and who knows what else. It didn't take long to switch to ZoneAlarm. If you are using it successfully and the program hasn't changed, then it is for those who are more adept with comp skills than the likes of me. Black Ice Defender left a very bitter taste in my mouth. DL
  3. If that is what he is looking for then he might be interested in this topic. DL
  4. @Hammer- I don't know who did what to whom, but I've been here two years. I have joined a few other forums before and since I came here. I am nowhere near qualified to answere even some of the basic questions that get asked in this forum but I am still here and not at the others because of exactly the opposite reason for your annoyance. Sometimes someone will get a little hot under the collar but I still find this place, MSFN, to be very helpful and friendly and because of that I am here very regularly. I don't know the statistics from 2 or 3 years ago and I wouldn't know how to compare them to now. Yesterday, I looked at what the numbers were and there were 90+ people logged in and over 1000 people viewing pages. I think that looks pretty good. Basic rules I try to guide myself with: Honey, not vinegar Don't rise to the bait Lead by example Everybody has a bad day DL

    A Huge s***

Yes, yes. It's always funny when someone else suffers. <pulls out Jeremy-meter to note any changes> DL
  6. Is this what you are looking for? Post or the post that follows it? DL Edit: I used +"build number", 365 days or older and by post. Listing by topic did bring up a ton of answeres.

    need a sig plz

This has turned into a good thread. Comment: Contributing to the forums can mean helping others, critiquing, a few brainfarts and asking questions also. Obviously, a silly question will probably get you some toast in return (we occasionally toast around here but don't look kindly on flaming. Brown is done, black is buggered) but questions can also clarify points, increase someone else's knowledge with the answeres or even take things in new directions. DL
  8. Hi Conner, Welcome to MSFN. Seems like we have picked up a couple of young ones lately. Young at heart anyway. Looks like you fit that bill. "forced out at 58" and drawn into MSFN at 73. DL
  9. Hi Pr0digy, Welcome to MSFN. That name, this site, you might have some really big shoes to fill. Or is that a zero prodigy trying to fill in the blanks? Like I said, welcome to MSFN. DL
  10. Try these pages: Unattended Main Page Changing the cosmetics in Unattended Hope this helps. DL

    Infrared Fart

On a side note. From what I understand, some/all digital cameras are IR capable but have a filter in them to stop that portion of the spectrum hitting the ccd(?) chip. We had a Sony vid camera that was IR capable and used an infrared light to light the subject and it had to be close to the camera. The camera wouldn't show how warm or cold the subject was. I never saw much use in the feature for general use. It doesn't make a pretty picture. DL
  12. Router Firefox and extensions nLite Rabbit's foot (I use that when common sense fails) Two years clear. I got a virus, looked for something to help re-install Windows, found MSFN and that has helped me a ton. DL

  15. Hugin is FOSS. If you have taken 2 or more pictures for a panoramic shot, then you can use this program to stitch them together. It will even to a spherical image so you are looking at the inside of a bubble picture, so to speak. Yeah, and it will do more. Sweet. Home page. DL Edit: Thank you Jeremy, piXelatedEmpire and TAiN. (below) I took some panoramic shots while on vacation or should I say shots taken side by side, hand held and not having followed any instructions for this program (I didn't know about this program yet). The panoramic shots (3) I put together with this program turned out reasonably well. What a difference it is to see them spliced together. It really is worth the effort, even if the panoramic isn't perfect. I ran into two problems that were created by me. One was that I didn't look to see where an imaginary horizontal line would be and that led to each picture being at a slightly different elevation (fixed with merging the pictures with Hugin and then cropping). The second was that I took each picture with the camera adjusting the apperture and it should have been set at a point of my chosing first. This caused the shots pointed closer to the sun to be darker than those to either side and so on with each shot further away. Another thing in the same vein is that when you take the shots, make sure you do them fairly quickly if there are clouds moving fairly rapidly. This caused each frame to have the same clouds in different positions and shadows in different locations. That will mess up the panorama. Read the instructions. There are some important details that need to be taken into account for better pictures.
  16. I had missunderstood what I had read. Previously, I was unable to get into the forums at all without logging in first. I carried that thought process over to the new update. Sorry. The id!ot understands now. DL You are welcome.
  17. I am not savy at anything like that but I think that VLC will do what you need. Remember, I said 'think'. I think is says so on this page. DL
  18. Hmmm. I talked to the retard again and he still has the problem of logging in from the main page, regardless of whether he has cleared his cache or not. When he does try to log in, he gets the message: But if he navigates through his history to a page in the forums and then tries to log in, he has no problems. So, what I wrote earlier is not correct. If it is a problem with the new Forum update, I am informing you of a bug. If it is something the id*** is doing incorrectly, please explain it to me in simple terms so that I can relay the message. Thank you, DL P.S.-I like the new update. LOL
  19. Nice. Pretty simple and efficient way of doing it. Huh, Fruit of the Loom, who woulda figured. DL
  20. Someone couldn't log in or get to any of MSFN's pages other than the main page starting early yesterday and they are guessing it is when you were installing the new version. Anyway, they created a new account and found this thread. So they went and tried to log into their old account after clearing their cache and managed to get into the forum with no problems. So if you see a new an acount with the username of 'newname', you can delete him because he is a retard. But I don't know him personally. DL
  21. Doesn't nuhi have something like that on his download page? DL
  22. File is actually ~150Kb as they packed it with EXE compressor. oops. Appologies. DL
