3 words: Duke Nukem Forever its been in development now for 7 years. and they sold more copies thru steam than retail ~5% or something. ill have to see if i can dig up the link. rolfenstein, im running a pny 6800gt(a64 3200+ 130nm, 1 gig mushkin pc3500 LVL II) and the game just flies. in the cs:s stress test i get 117 fps with all in game options cranked, high quality in cp, 4xaa, 8xaf in 1024x768.

Do'H! edit voted bad for the issues stated below... im having some local connectivity issues. recently moved, everything worked fine before the move, moved, got my workstation set up and installed sp2. next day i set up my server. cut and past from another forum cause im too lazy to retype it i have since uninstalled sp2 and am having the same problem. is it doing something to the ip stack when you install sp2? anyhow as soon as i get my pw for one of my email accounts that is hosted offsite ill be doing a re-install to see if that fixes the problem.

actually peg slots are gonna be rather large, almost comparable to agp slots but keyed differently... the pci-expressx1 slots are gonna be about 1/4 of what the pci slots are now...

dont know how long this will last but dell supposedly has the x800xtpe in stock and they are only $416!!!!!

they are being sold, just hard to find. its kinda hard to find the x800xtpe at this point (the 6800 ultra is hard also, but a little easier), and there are many theories.. i like the gddr3 low yield theory. while the manu's can crank out gddr3 at 2.0ns, they are having problems w/ the 1.6ns, which is the spec'd memory speed for both cards. just keep looking you'll stumble across one eventually. edit keep an eye on newegg. they say eta on 8/14 how long they actually be available for/if they actually get them... who knows? but ouch $589!!!

if your only looking to spend $200 pick up an ati 9800 pro. great cards at that price point. also nvidia is releasing their 6600 line in about 2 weeks, but solid specs on what it has (pipes/clock speeds/type&speed of the mem) are hard to come by right now. that card will retail at $199. as for the current cards, i really wanted an ati x800pro. found out that all x800's are incompatible w/ my mobo. waited 6 weeks for a bios revision. got fed up went out and grabbed a 6800gt. but the latest and greatest cards are so close performance wise its hard to tell who is the clear winner (unlike the gf4/8500 and9700/fx days..)

man didnt read the whole article.. but an ultra for $399? where they at and let me at 'em!!! the 6800 gt's are going for $399.. the ultras are $499

the problem w/ dIII is it has no support for widescreen... i havent tried it, but ive seen alot of people crying about it. as for screenies.. sold some of the pieces of my server for $$$$ to make up for the new vidcard.. and i havent put it back together yet.. and prat took carry of the screenie itch anyhoo

just picked up my copy of doom III from gamestop about 5 hours ago.. been playing ever since. man its beautiful.

im not an EE, but i think it had something to do (originally) with the pci slot design... but if btx does make headway into the market they'll be hot side up.

tried editing the above.. but it was being gay and wouldnt go right... sorry all taken from above: if you were smart you wouldnt even look at a ddr2 setup.. the latencies are so high at the current mem clocks that you are better off staying with ddr till ddr3, much less the price, becomes prevailant.. intel has already said that a 4ghz product will not be released this year.... but would you really want one? christ the 3.4e's are already melting mobo's lets take games out of the equation... i can do a fresh format on a 20gig c: partition(xp) and be looking at the desktop in 11 minutes(granted i can ghost faster than that... but it takes me longer to find the cd's that to just start fresh). less than 20 minutes w/ ALL my drivers/directx installed... now if want to get into why else its faster game-wise.. just look at the ORB for futuremark... the slowest for 2k1se(ohh btw only 4 out of the top 20 are intel, and 3dmark03 is completely gpu bound...) intel is 4403mhz... the slowest amd is 2849mhz... its not always about clock speed its the IPC that counts... but i do agree w/ the above posts.... buy the cpu that fits your needs the most..

its gonna depend on the pump mostly. a 150 L/h pump is going to use less juice than a 300 L/h pump obviously.
