  1. just got my 9700pro... no tweaks, no o/c... just installed the 3.2's and went... http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=748877
  2. amd xp2500+ (running at 200x10.5 day to day) soltek sl-75frn-l 512megs samsung pc 2700 (dtl) antec trupower 430w wd 800bb sb audigy ati 9700 pro yamaha cdrw lg cd-rom inwin q500 full tower xp pro (devils own)
  3. the text in the bottom left of the screen, that states that it is an eval copy blah blah blah... how can i get rid of it? thanks.
  4. i recently got permission at work to put up a game server. the network is running a cicsco pix 506e for vpn/firewall. im having some problems opening ports to the game server ... #1. trying to open a range of ports (i.e. 40000-42000) returns a invalid port. i type in the console: static (inside, outside) udp interface 40000 42000 192.168.0.48 40000 42000 netmask 255.255.255.255 and it returns an invalid port. i can enter each one individually, but there is no way in hell im going to do that 2000 times. #2. the other question i have is the inside/outside part. to me, it seems like im letting traffic out, not in.... is this the right way to let specific port ranges into the network? the pix is set up to let all inside traffic out. i know the ports to let in, i just need a lil help thanks all
  5. filer you have any 2k1se scores?
  6. a couple of things to try : is the jumper configuration correct? aka do you need to change jumpers to run different kinds of memory have you tried it a single stick at a time? what kind of psu? can you get into the bios? if you can check the bios settings. can you set the fsb and multi manually? can you relax the memory timing at all? keep looking you'll get it.
  7. http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/m/matrix2.php final trailer has been released. i can not wait for this movie! its gonna be hard to out do their first one.
  8. well i got some new gear last week, so my scores improved some what... 3dmark03 and 2k1se the thing that surprised me most.. searched the orb for all cpus between 1900 and 2100mhz, with a ti4400, all os... the top score is mine w00t edit i guess there are some higher for 2k1se... somewhere around 149xx, but the orb is being funky right now. everytime i search 2k1 projects, it shows me 03 projects.
  9. you have all the tcp/ip properties set to auto? what kind of router? is the router configured to provide ip's?
  10. ipconfig /all from a command line... it lists your dhcp lease expiration, but you'll have to do it w/o the router.
  11. i actually have had quite a few problems with those nic's. from them not physically fitting in hp machines (plate was to long, some tin snips solved that problem), to having them screw up os installs.
  12. if they actually ever come out (i hope they do) id probably pick up a 9700 instead. i cant afford to run bleeding edge equipment, so i tend to stay about a generation behind.
  13. if you are still looking for an old tbird, newegg.com has 1.33 for $48, you could always run it at 14x100 (if your board supports that multi.) but it doesnt make much sense to do that when you can grab a xp1700+(1.47) for $52. i agree w/ everyone else. get a new mobo and ram. then get a new cpu.
  14. it can be a domain w/ 9x on it. why wouldn't it be?
  15. group policy>computer config>user config right? if a gpo takes precedence over evrything else, then why isnt mine working? the user config restrictions/options i made work fine. but the computer config options dont work (strong pw, minimum pw length, etc). ive refreshed the policy (secedit),too. basically the computer config is not taking, or its overriding the gpo, which it shouldnt do. or am i missing something hugh here again? edit the domain gpo was overiding the ou gpo
  16. i may be way off base here... so someone point it out, please, if i am. you will have to set up a domain, and for that your gonna need a server running something like win2k server or windows server 2003 (unless someone knows how to get xp to be a domain controller, fthrjack ). from there its not too hard. heres what i did on our new network (take this w/ a grain of salt, but it worked for me): created the user accounts in Active Directory, from there you can set their home folders (where all their files will be stored), and pretty much everything else you want to set. log them on, set up the desktop how you/they want it. right click my computer, advanced, user profiles. click on the one you want to change, set it to roaming profile. the profile is going to need to be on a computer thats on all the time aka the server. the only problem is win2k server is lotsa $$$$, or you can signup for the windows 2003 server beta (at which point ignore all of my response.. i have yet to touch it). hope that helps! * i am not legally, morally, sexually or emotionally responsible for any damage, lost time, etc done by trying this. what do you expect ? im intellectually challenged aka ive got an IQ in the single digits.
  17. click here to find out about 3dmark03 saber.. my 2001 se high was 10185 w/ no overclocking.. my 3dmark03 score at the same settings...
  18. this is rather annoying. plug it into the network, still cant map a network drive, nor connect to the server but...... the same server is running exchange 2000, and outlook does recieve new email on the funky box. wth? servers fqdn is: bmlabs_main.b-mlabs.local trying to map h:, which is a home folder, as \\bmlabs_main\username$ , network path not found try adding a network place \\bmlabs_main\d$, same thing. man is this infuriating.
  19. works fine when i ping the funky one.
  20. -Try if it'll find it by searching for its name havent tried that yet, but i doubt it'll work... i tried browsing thru network neighborhood, it sees the domain (only because thats the domain it belongs to), but when you click on it.... nothing. -Try re-running the connection wizzard (Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Setup...) havent tried this... but the physical aspect of the connection works fine. it pings loopback, its own ip, and any other ip on the network. -Try to ping the remote machine, maybe you're getting blocked my a 3rd party firewall or the XP one. it pings the server (as i said in my 1st post ) ,as well as being able to ping every other resource on the network. the xp firewall is disabled. i also connected the problem box in another location just to rule out a line problem. just a recap... machine sees the server, it getting an ip from it. but i cant connect to any other network resources. it just keeps returning network path not found, even when i try to doing an administrative share to the servers c: . try logging on using different accounts; same thing. all of the accounts i tried work fine on other machines. funny thing is it worked fine yesterday. no changes since. ms client for networks is installed, and the tcp/ip properties are all set to auto. domain name is correct also.
  21. does the same thing, network path not found.
  22. its an xp pro box (sp1a) that is suppossed to run a logon script as it logs on the domain(win2k). the script maps 3 network drives (h:, s:, and L:). at first i thougt it wasnt running the logon script. but i tried the same account on a different computer (another xp pro box), all three network drives are there and working. so i try a different account on the originall computer. same thing. no network drives. run ipconfig, its getting its ip from the server, everything looks right, and it can ping the server. so i try manually mapping them. errors out, network path cannot be found. try doing it from a command line, same thing. so it can physically contact the server, but for some reason it wont actually find what its looking for. any ideas? thanks.
  23. congrats on 10k filer... 3dmark03 comes out on tuesday.... the futuremark team is saying that the 20k+ machines are going to be hard pressed to hit 5k. so if i can hit 2500 ill be happy. i found this kinda interesting about 3dmark03... dx7 cards can only run one of the tests. zero he was running 8.1
  24. you are comparing apples to oranges filer... of course they ar gonna score higher... they have all have a 400mhz+ fsb , plus the cpu's are 1ghz+ faster(with one exception)... im trying to compare apples to apples. you are running a 1.33 tbird, im running a 1.33 tbird. you have a 9700, i have a ti 4400. your score is overclocked, but yet my none overclocked score is higher than your o/c'd score with a faster video card.... im not trying to be rude or anything, just pointing out that it seems that you are scoring lower than you should be imo. but if the way its running right now works for you, go for it....
