actually all rev e cores can run 4 ds dimms @ 400, it just cant do it at 1T cmdrate.

if you have built pc's before i wouldnt worry about it much. grab the dfi nf4. BEFORE you build it spend some time reading the stickies over on dfi-street. also make sure you have a backup rig (desktop/laptop/smokesignals) available just in case the crap hits the fan my install went nice and smooth w/ some old school BH-5 memory, but gaming stability wasnt so good. that memory guide helped out alot and got me nice and stable. still working on a nice stable overclock (2+hrs of prime)

ok this is how my company is set up. it may not be pretty but it works. hope this helps . all batch and vb scripts are in C:\WINDOWS\SYSVOL\sysvol\my_domain\scripts, in AD i have the user profiles set to call different batch files, example: @echo off wscript.exe //Nologo %0\..\mkelogon.vbs which obviously calls the mkelogon script.

another vote for the DFI nF4 Ultra-D... i've had mine for about a month now, and was running a DFI nF3 Ultra-D prior to that. great boards, but not for the 1st time builder (tho the nF4 has been much easier than the nF3). as for vid card choice... the 6600GT will work fine as long as your not trying to game on a dell 2405fpw @ native res.

remedy is working on Alan Wake grab the hi def movie definitely looks sweet. don't know if they farmed 3 out to another company or just decided to do something else also cant wait for the lost coast hdr demo and hl2: aftermath... need something to give my 'puter a workout.

ahh crap never tried the admin share.... probably wont use the /mir switch cause i need it to be in both locations for the time being. i ll give it a whir on some test shares and see how it does. on another note i found a reg entry that will take permissions across volumes, just have to re-share the folder. if i cant figure out the robocopy, i'll do it w/ the reg entry. souldn't be that bad as its only 4 shares. thanks Martin

morning all, im moving a file/print server over to a new box, and i need to take permissions with the files. so ive been playing w/ robocopy but yet to have it work properly. ive got a crap load of files to move, but prior to that i just want to test robocopy.. so ive been trying to transfer "new folder" from the e: drive server 01 to "new folder" on f: of server 02. from a command line ive been using: robocopy "\\server01\new folder\e:\" "\\server02\new folder\f:\" /e /sec /r:3 /w:1 i think im missing a switch in the above that i have been running.. but anyhow it'll read "\\server02\new network path not found" or something similar, and in the source and dest output is all mangled. for source it'll read: source=\\server01\new\e:\serv" so doesnt a space desiginate the source and destination under robocopy? and this is from a 2k server to a 2k3 server.... ive been using robocopy off the 2k resource kit... will the ome off of w2k3(xp 010 or whatever) be better?

I have run into a similar situation with a 2k3 box (DC, AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Exchange 2k3). when ever i use remote desktop to run updates, etc if the process requires a restart, the box will come back up, but email/iis are down, and you cant rdc back to the server. it does this if i let it auto restart or restart it thru windows security. if i log on locally to the box, it can hit the internet and ping the whole **** network, but nothing on the network(nor off for email and webpages) can connect to it. only way to get it up and running again is to uninstall the nic. still havent figured out why it does this.

its been awhile since ive played w/ dns... but what about adding "a" records to your foward look up zone that point to the outside sites?

water cooling works fine, but dont run it if you change hardware alot, or are impatient. any time i make a change in the loop, i run the water cooling for at least 24 hours w/ the computer off to check for leaks. all my water gear is in my server because a. the gear rarely changes b. im to broke to buy new stuff. dangerden wants $125us for a nv68 (6800gt/u) waterblock!!! thats just nuts. im gonna stay with my current cooling till i win the lottery

or install it as a service, every time the box boots, it'll run. from a cmd prompt browse to where its installed, then type ventrilo_svc -i.

her domain account is a local admin on that pc. it has got to be an issue with the box itself. i can log her account onto another pc, and color themes are available. yahoo IM works fine for me (using just a domain users account, users group locally; or under my domain admin account). the only thing i can think of is the laptop gets put on a lot of customer networks, wondering if its a gpo that waspicked up elsewhere, and since we dont restrict it ie not configured... that its still being applied since its not being updated by our gpo

afternoon all having some issues with an employees laptop that was added to our domain. on the local account w/ admin privileges, under appearance she can change the color scheme to what she wants (using windows classic, then the color scheme she wants). works fine. logs on to the domain and there are no color schemes available (not gpo'd either, i can log on w/ her account on another pc and have them available). same issue with yahoo im. logged on locally (on our network), Yahoo im works fine. log on to the domain, and it cant connect. works fine from my pc and another co-workers. been banging my head against the wall w/ this one. sager laptop, sp2 w/ all available updates, icf is off. thanks for any help.

[/quote] 90% of the a64's are now 512 L2. only ones that arent are the fx's, the dtr's, the 754 3700+, and the 939 4000+. the only (barely) noticable difference with the L2 and gaming would be a higher minimum framerate, and by only a couple of frames.

yep use host headers if your using iis try here for a quick and easy explination.

they were all critical updates only, no driver updates. tried 3 different nics, all with the same result. can ping looback/ip/gateway, but nothing gets thru to the box. tried rebuilding the tcp/ip stack, still had the same issue. so i finally gave up and rebuilt the server.

evening all. im having an issue(again) with my win2k3 server. its only running IIS and argosoft mail server. ICF is off. it was working fine, auto-downloaded some updates, and installed them. now i can no longer ping my server (from a local computer),cant connect using rdc,etc. therefore my websites and email are down. tried to go into add/remove, but all the quickfixes are dated 4/6/04. the server itself can ping the gateway, get online with no problem, and can ping my desktop. tried setting up dhcp thru my router, but i still cant ping that assigned ip (but it can ping desktop/get online tho). also tried pulling the nic/re-installing/replacing the nic. no go. this happened about 6 weeks ago, and i ended up reformating. im hoping to find a solution this time around.

like mendi said, for multiple reasons. if internal security is not a big issue, stay with the workgroup setup. but its nice having a domain setup. adds more security, centralizes everything, and opens up alot of new doors to play with . if you have access to the current 2k setup, take a look and see what its doing right now (ad? iis? dns? dhcp? ics/gateway? etc.) then see if can take the new server home to play with one of the nice aspects of 2k3 is the fact that it comes locked down out of the box, and you add roles from there.

that cant be good.. if you set heap size to your full amount wont it try to use all of your ram aka start swapping to vm because windows has used x amount of ram already?

like prathapml said its relatively easy to get the commit charge down to more manageable levels. plus you have a gig of ram what are you worried for ?

going back to the psu... if it doesnt have a pci-express 6 pin on it, you'll have to use up 2 seperate (but ive heard you can get by on one line) 4 pin molex conn's.

1st one is way at the start, you dont even have a HEV suit yet. the second one is kinda by the start of the airboat segment. anandtech and [t]ardocp have relesed their own timedemo's. kinda fun to play with. found out that im pretty cpu limited. with 4xaa/8xaf @10x7 on anands canal demo i get 94fps, turn off aa/af and that number jumps all the way up to....... 105
