  1. ... For WinXP users, the main thing is the return of the "tab search" button: Of course, r5 contains additional security patches, but having been an MSFN member for so long I realise this isn't a "top priority" reason to upgrade for users of EoL'ed WinOSes (myself included ) ... All the best !

  3. Just for clarification. I know how to prevent URL tracking parameters. But the two profiles I am currently using are actually for testing and developing in New Moon 28 and Mypal 68. Apart from uBO, there is no other protection. And even this content blocker is only configured slightly, as it is not of interest. I test JavaScript and CSS files in these profiles. Mainly things I have created myself. I had searched for something on eBay there weeks ago, and now these pages no longer work as before. No more, no less. Nevertheless, thanks for replying!

  5. I actually PREFER the posts HERE, to be honest. Mainly because of "visitation frequency" and a fast-and-easy "activity" versus "unread" view of everything on one page.

  6. Yes, I was speaking about others, esp. those who don't follow Supermium at GitHub that much. Anyways, you are welcome!

  7. Yes I am, but it's still very useful for everyone here to be aware of new releases, so thank you @mina7601.

  9. Well, you are free to stay with the current version, I am just posting updates for those who are interested in being up to date about Supermium's new versions.

  10. I assume you found the CSS code here: https://superuser.com/questions/1224596/disable-css-animations-on-firefox If injected via userContent.css without any modifications which means using the CSS code globally, i.e. for all websites, it indeed works even with the "initial" CSS keyword. However, I had tested the code only on ebay.de by using @-moz-document url or @-moz-document domain, and this didn't work for me. In Mypal 68, I installed the extension Disable Transitions created by the author of the CSS code you found. Works absolutely great. To only use this code on eBay websites, enabling and disabling the extension is now my strategy, since this CSS code has negative effects on other sites as for example MSFN. In New Moon 28, I use the Stylem extensions to apply the CSS code. Even in this browser, I can successfully apply the code only globally and not locally. But with Stylem, you can quickly switch stylesheets on and off. So, problem solved for now.

  14. In the case of New Moon 28, you are right, but Mypal 68 and Thorium have not been updated since the bookmark was saved. By the way, in the CSS code you previously posted as a fix, only the "initial" keyword is present. The "initial" CSS keyword applies the initial (or default) value of a property to an element. Nothing more. To stop animations or transitions, there is actually the need of the "none" CSS keyword.

  15. Long story short. eBay websites (at least here in Germany) which worked fine some weeks or months ago must have recently changed, and their new layout is not pleasing. The page I quoted runs on my computer at 100% CPU utilisation in New Moon 28, Mypal 68 and even in Thorium. A short time ago, it was almost 0% after loading completely. That's a fact. I opened the same link I bookmarked weeks ago.

  16. Unable to replicate. ebayimg.map doesn't show up in any of my logs even when visiting https://www.ebay.de/itm/186679189985 incognito. Perhaps, eBay is once again using German eBay customers as guinea pigs for layout experiments. Comparable to laboratory rats. The eBay websites have become worse and worse in recent years. It used to be much, much better.

  17. This is the deactivated filter: ! https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/25247 ! ||www.ebay.$removeparam=_trksid But enabling this filter could lead to the reported problem: "Add to Watchlist" does not work .Anyway! This must be created under My rules in uBO to clean up the link completely: ||www.ebay.$removeparam=_trksid ||www.ebay.$removeparam=itmprp ||www.ebay.$removeparam=itmmeta
    1 point
  18. Correct! I was not logged in at the time. The eBay link is in the format that you are offered as a simple guest. It actually only contains one real tracking component starting with _trksid, the other two are purely item related starting with itmprp (followed by a checksum) and itmmeta and are not normally filtered by tracking filters. The current URL tracking filter list inside uBO does not even clean _trksid, although it is included but not activated.

  19. Thanks for your suggestion! I'll try it out later on my Windows XP computer. Since Stylus no longer works in Mypal 68, and Stylish is no longer installed in New Moon 28, I will try to inject the code into the eBay pages via the userContent.css file. No success. This does not do anything. The issue doesn't seem to be related to animations and transitions. Only when blocking ebayimg.map.fastly.net in uBO, the CPU utilisation becomes normal again. But then the page looks unusable like that:

  20. New version of Widevine plugin is incompatible with Win7. The latest version of Supermium has a patch that fixes the dll, you can take a test on this site, but the digital signature becomes invalid, so it may not work on sites with protection. You can still replace the dll with an older version, but sites may not accept it soon.

  22. In this weird modern World, it doesn't work the way you assume. The US hosts a super large portion of openly anti-American population, most of them aren't even citizens, they broke all the laws, yet they aren't deported, they are even subsidised. It's the same with the github since they are an American entity, they resonate on the same (current) agenda frequencies. Also, regarding github, github works for the international market, they can't just throw away whomever they don't like. Or they would've needed to implement the only US members demand.

  23. They send it via inbox at github, that would be my guess since I don't have an acc. there. Probably they even have a warning system, also.

  24. Here is a guide how to make Firefox 118 beta 2 work on 8.0: 1. Install Explorer Suite (which includes CFF Explorer): https://ntcore.com/?page_id=388 2. Download the exe installer from this site: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/118.0b2/win64/en-US/Firefox Setup 118.0b2.exe (the only version that I tested, but that should work on FF 116/117 too) 3. Extract it via 7-Zip 4. Open all exe files located in core folder using CFF Explorer 5. In Optional Header change MajorOperatingSystemVersion and MajorSubsystemVersion from A to 6 (and repeat that to all exe files that have set those aforementioned versions as A) 6. Save them 7. Copy this dll file to Firefox folder 8. Open Firefox, and voila, you got working Firefox 118 beta 2 api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll

  27. More modern browser options for XP are certainly a good thing. And it's also good to hear that it's faster than 360EE. And it does my heart good to see @feodor2 stick it to the jerks at MCP by just forking Firefox itself But don't let this become an excuse to cease development of @roytam1's current browsers! Remember, from FF 57 forward, Firefox no longer supports the vast majority of add-ons we've all been using. Every add-on will need to be replaced with a "Web Extensions" version - if it exists. Otherwise you're SOL. An XP fork of "classic" Waterfox (before they got sold) would solve the add-ons problem, but I don't know if that's in his plans. Also, while not a big deal for most users these days, be aware that FF 91 no longer supports Adobe's Flash plug-in. If you run Flash content you'll need to keep an older browser around.

  30. Oh really !? Where is any valuable info in your reply and why do you think it is needed ? It's not the first time you've misinterpreted my posts . Do note , I didn't write "like" , and "upvote" is meant to move the post in the charts for people who need to find a quick solution. Now this is really funny how your absolutely worthless and hostile post is getting upvotes. Such "posts" do pollute this wonderful website , our beloved MSFN. Let me ask , do you have a special permission to write off-topic posts ? The rules do not apply to you ? I've noticed you have plenty of them with many being marked as <OT>. Are you a wise ancient ("old", like you said it yourself) Guru of some sorts ? Well, sorry if I missed that part. I would like to ask the moderators and the public to forgive me for going off-topic , I didn't start this and I'm sorry, but this time it's just too much. Please delete this post (and his too for being absolutely off-topic and obviously personal). EDIT : I've decided to attach this screenshot of the main page of "VistaLover" 's profile where 70% of his posts are marked as <OT> (off-topic) by the user himself . Maybe it is something for the moderators to consider.

  31. Great ! But why haven't you made an upvote for my post then ? BTW , our dear moderators may want to pin this post as a quick and proven fix for Vista users who got lost among all those numerous updates . @Dave-H , we have something for your consideration here , in my previous post.

  32. Actually, it's Power DVD we were talking about , but I totally understand it is easy to mix them up and the activation process is quite hard , if not unbearable with both. I've read that newer versions need to be activated for each codec , for example , to play x265/H265 (HEVC) with version 16 you need to activate it separately with a given number. Just ridiculous , I won't support them , that's for sure , but I see the customers are OK with this , like most of folks are OK with everything that's going on. In any case, I really appreciate your help, thanks and like from me.

  33. It got corrupted because of the numerous updates ! I use Vista from 2007 and never had any problems . If you need the ex-kernel , the only update that must be installed is KB4467700-x64. If you play DX 11 games - you need to install KB2117917 and KB971512. That's it ! You can also install VC redist and Frameowrk 4.5 . You do not need anything else, if you don't click suspicious links.

  34. I really appreciate , but I'm afraid you won't be able to test it yourself since all retail versions have a rather hard activation process and install a ton of bloatware (protections and the such) , not to mention you'd have to have a license. The version that came with the PC is much easier in this regard . It auto self-activates on this motherboard only . The version is 11.0.0.2516 . With all due respect to VLC , it just doesn't have that picture depth and sound quality and began to support DTS only recently. I'm not a Cyberlink employee , it's my own opinion and I really like that version . The newer ones are much , much worse , so I won't buy them.

  35. The programme is Power DVD (circa 2009). It was supplied with the PC . As of now, I have that dubious "feature" disabled. But that's not a permanent solution. That'ss not the programme that makes me wonder , that's all those firewalls that allow such kind of traffic . As far as I know, they have that MDNS "casting" in Power DVD for a long time , since version 7 or so.

  36. Hello all , does anyone have a good working guide on on how to get rid of SSDP traffic in Windows Vista ? I have an old programme (a video player with mdns casting "feature" which I don't use/need). I've blocked it with windows firewall and tried to block it with several third party firewalls too , yet I still see lots of ssdp traffic coming from this programme (both ways). I have blocked all inbound traffic too , of course. I have these services disabled , yet it doesn't help to stop ssdp. Computer Browser SSDP Discovery UPnP Device Host Function Discovery Resource Publication Function Discovery Provider host These artices that came up first in the search are useless too. https://its.uiowa.edu/support/article/3576 https://tweaks.com/windows/37087/completely-disable-universal-plug-and-play-upnp/ https://alferkwok.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/disable-network-discovery-by-gpo-windows-vista-or-later/ Thanks in advance.

  37. Windows 7 explorer.exe for Windows 8 (Ex7forW8) Long story short, i made a wrapper to Windows 7 explorer.exe to run on Windows 8. You can try it now in order to have native Windows 7 desktop experience, without immersive shell bits enabled, saving RAM. New Windows Explorer features like ribbon and file copying are present. You need to have Windows 8 RP or RTM (32-bit or 64-bit) installed. Works with Server 2012 too. Download: http://tihiy.net/files/ex7forW8_1.0.zip INSTALLATION ============ Launch Ex7ForW8_setup.exe. Follow instructions. You'll need Windows 7 installation DVD or files ready; keep in mind that they should be same language and bitness. UNINSTALLATION ============== Uninstall program from Programs and Features. If you're using portable install, just switch shell to Windows 8 and delete folder PRECAUTIONS =========== This program does not modify system files and system protected registry entries. You can switch back to unaltered Windows 8 UI any time. Windows 7 shell is enabled only to users which switched to it. Other users can use Windows 8 shell without any problems.
