The following rule has been proven to be true time and again in my past: The more spoon-feeding , the more demand for convenience. I think every member should do a proper research on their own first. If this fails, then asking is perfectly fine. Finding links for extensions whose name and version is already known is not particularly difficult and should be feasible for everyone.3 points

I noticed compatibilities issues to the Tab Utilities extension in New Moon 28 and some other problems with crashing or not correctly unloading tabs as in the PM fork Suspender.2 points

When I once tried Windows 7 on a GTX 9800 ++, it had weirdly shaking windows, all windows could just start to shake all at once for no apparent reason. Vista got no problems on the same PC. Many years later I installed an updated Win 7 ISO on that PC, and there was no such issue anymore. Fixed in the updates? Windows 7 and server 2008 R2 are very buggy.2 points

Oh, how could I forget, there's this driver from that era, for China icafes, tweaked for 750 ti, especially. https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/geforce-icafe-355-73-driver-whql.401913/2 points

Thanks! I'm a bit better today. So what's the progress? 368.81, I never had any good experience with it. It's heavily tweaked for Pascal cards under Win10, leaving older generations falling far behind due to the lack of optimizations, there's a lot videos about that. Try something 355.xx.2 points

What makes you think I didn't read it? It was a personal thought of a random Reddit poster, while I got you a >Solved< page explanation. "Spotify is not working under VPN. I'm getting 403 error. I'm using my work VPN and it's always been OK." https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/403-Error-when-using-VPN/m-p/5470802#M114786 How then you explain the same man not getting any errors with work VPN? I have a hunch it's related to the new fingerprinting techniques that are working differently with Thorium.1 point

Saxon simply reported non working page error, whether it's Thorium related or not, is still to be determined, and you started your usual off-topic activities with the crap posting, link. I got absolutely another error, I assumed it was (most probably) related to MSFN website/editor, I didn't have any errors upon visiting the page directly, I didn't know it was an imgur link, I thought the image was attached, that's why I made a screenshot with spacer. png, and UCyborg already helped, so why you just start minding your own business, and leave us be? Thanks. Since you aren't suggesting any useful solutions and always behave disrespectfully, insinuating VPN, etc. Don't like our posts? Ignore. Or I'll make a very detailed report to Tripredacus, I'll explain how you always bring hostilities, how you insert personal, insulting references and spam up the forum.1 point

Thank you! I made 3070 work on driver 466.77 on Windows 1709 (build 16299). Here, this combination worked: 1. 00 7C 3F 00 (16252) replaced with 00 0F 3A 00 (14863) and 2. 00 AD 42 00 (17069) with 00 AB 3F 00 (16299)) For 4070 and driver 531.61 (531.41 is the earliest driver supporting 4070) on 1709, I don't know what to modify. I'm not experienced with WinDbg to find the new hex values to modify via debugging. This is especially difficult because "1803" being the minimum Ampere/Lovelace winver requirement could mean beta builds from 17069 to 17763. So this would be a lot of trial and error without proper debugging. How do I debug the .sys file to nail down the values to change?1 point

@Kmuland Another great extension to easily adjust rather hidden settings of your New Moon 28 browser is Pale Moon Commander in version 3.0.1. This extensions also offers performance settings. An interesting and also effective measure in reducing RAM usage is rebasing the file xul.dll from New Moon's programme folder. Personally, I do that each time a new version is released. The tool I use for rebasing is libase. And finally, I'll post here soon another nice custom button which also helps a bit (especially after the starting the browser) to minimize RAM usage of legacy browsers. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

... And if you took the time to read the linked reddit thread in its entirety, you would have also found that: In any case, and since this is OT here , I won't be posting more on this issue; however, I and other MSFN members will, no doubt, continue using ImgUr as an external image hoster, if it suits my/their needs... ... Be that as it may, win32's close collaborator and co-maintainer/administrator of Supermium's GitHub issue tracker, docrR, has already posted this: https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/567 (BTW, that X link won't open/display for those without an account/those browsing X anonymously); the issue has also been pinned in the tracker, so it's difficult to not notice it ... ... My thoughts exactly - this doesn't mean that official sources of any given software are 100% immune to being tampered with, but this doesn't seem to be the case here...1 point

There is a lot that can be done to improve New Moon 28 on computers low on resources. The extension Custom Buttons is very low in consuming resources. Once installed, you are able to use some custom buttons to improve the performance of New Moon 28. Read here: Toggle GIF Animation, Pref Toggler and Restart & Purge. One idea is to disable all animations and autoplay functions. Set the pref image.animation_mode from value normal to none! And then use the custom button Toggle GIF Animation to temporarily enable such animations when needed. And I would recommend one of the PM extensions to control media autoplay. There are three candidates. Try them and decide yourself! Furthermore, you should consider to use the script manager Greasemonkey 3.31.4. By using scripts you can improve web compatibility, solve problems or annoyances and much more.1 point

Exactly thats the reason. The laptop Im using uses same mechanical HD for downloading, browser cache, windows pagefile.... so in situations withfew memory available skipping the cache saves to much r/w on disk. Really appreciated the info!!! I conserve cleanmem as best memory manager but I have to learn how to config it properly. Currently Im testing with old FF memory extensions and really does not help a lot. Ill install Lull The Tabs now... and test it. My best memory save trick for NM28 is to open a new window instead of a new tab and close the old window to really free up the memory.1 point

Easy. By taking some personal responsibility and knowing if you downloaded from an OFFICIAL source or if you just clicked some random link that some random person on some random web site directed you to. Doesn't sound very complicated to me. We used to call it "net savvy". And it is the "net savvy" consumer that has NEVER been hit with malware yet also NEVER runs real-time "protection". We used to also call it "practice safe hex".1 point

Thanks!!! This practically solved the following for me: 1) Tabs sometimes crashing 2) Youtube videos stop playing and needing to be reloaded in a fresh tab 3) Sites not loading and needing to be opened in a new tab Great work!1 point

Right! That was why I asked about his capacities for file storage. In general, I don't think it would be a good idea to disable disk cache on devices with little RAM.1 point

You are not off-topic. Me too. My hardware specs are: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2.80 GHz CPU (single core, 32 Bit), only 1.5 GB SD-RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 6200 graphic card with 256 MB. All hard disks are connected via IDE. What are yours?1 point

This link worked for me: https://github.com/zerodytrash/Simple-YouTube-Age-Restriction-Bypass/raw/main/dist/Simple-YouTube-Age-Restriction-Bypass.user.js In Serpent 52, you can, for example, use Tampermonkey 4.11.6120, Violentmonkey 2.14.0 (needs a small fix) or Greasemonkey 3.31.4 from the fork branch.1 point

How's this off-topic, uncontrollable stream of poor imagination, riddled with 2nd grader's smileys and personal insults supposed to help me? I understand you're very new to this forum and still learning how to make posts, please take example from UCyborg, who have helped me just fine, fast and even before the usual spam you posted, From him, I got all I needed to know, and without overly excessive babblery. Thank you @UCyborgfor the detailed explanations, good night!1 point

I was trying 32-bit version, 64-bit obviously couldn't possibly load 32-bit DLL. The thing is programmed to call undocumented API NtCreateKeyedEvent with an object name \KernelObjects\SRW_WakingEvent, which fails unless the calling application is run with administrative rights, as KernelObjects namespace is restricted. Why would I run a buggy web browser on a buggy insecure OS with unrestricted access to everything?! I live by the principle_of_least_privilege. I modified the DLL to use BaseNamedObjects instead. Also changed DesiredAccess parameter of both NtCreateKeyedEvent and NtOpenKeyedEvent calls from 0x2000000 to 0xF0003. Don't know what former is supposed to mean, but the latter has been documented to translate to KEYEDEVENT_ALL_ACCESS, which sounds about right. Browser was unusable crash fest with the original. chrome-xp-api-adapter_x86.b5044.zip There was an error on launch that said: The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003). Click on OK to terminate the application. That was with DLL build 5041, in the latest version 5043, he put a block on XP x64 and most other OS...an error saying it's not supported. Not supported my a**, I removed the block. Can both XP x64 and XP x86 users here check the modified the DLL above and see how it works? If it's broken, should be apparent right away as new versions are about new synch code using keyed events, kinda important. Edit: Well, non-NT 5.x systems are still blocked, not sure how much mess is in there that it would be needed to prevent the user from getting crappy (non-working) experience...I could throw the check out entirely. But now it's really late here, so time to sleep.1 point

Just add this to your unattend.xml --> oobsystem. <component name="Microsoft-Windows-SecureStartup-FilterDriver" processorArchitecture="amd64" language="neutral" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" versionScope="nonSxS"> <PreventDeviceEncryption>true</PreventDeviceEncryption> </component> If you want to keep most of the WinSxS folder than delete WinSxS.ini. Start with a clean profile, add a short amount, starting with --no-default-browser-check --no-first-run --disable-breakpad --disable-machine-id --disable-encryption Add a bit more, try, and so on. Don't touch its own flags page as of yet! We need to determine what exactly is the reason for possible conflicts. P.S. You don't need to add user agent string and user directory --user-data-dir="%~dp0%\USER_DATA" It's already in the loader! Obviously, now your current profile starts only from the loader. No "bat" or whatever he included.1 point

Important. @AstroSkipper The fact Supermium and Thorium still need these flags can only tell one thing, the portable patch is NOT applied by the author, the information on the site is misleading, to put it politely, so the browser is not fully portable, and if you start this browser without these flags, your old profile is gone! --disable-machine-id --disable-encryption1 point

Unfortunately not, and none of the usual hacks work, I mean DXVK and DX12on7. But the game has terrible performance even for those who have latest PC.1 point

... Well yes, sadly, this has also happened to me, especially when using Serpent 52 to post (only very rarely happens when using KafanMiniBrowser ) ... Well, after reloading the page (and praying during the page reload that whatever you've already written won't be lost ), do NOT immediately re-click the "Submit" button; first open in a new tab the MSFN thread you're posting to and inquire whether your post has indeed been uploaded, despite the browser hang; once you verify this is not the case, only then do click the "Submit" button anew ; FWIW, I had similar issues when using St52 to post comments on GitHub, but now, since MS made GH almost unusable in UXP-based browsers, I use KMB for GH (where that issue almost never manifests itself) ... And the very best is that now both posts have disappeared completely. Who has deleted them? I simply replied to a post addressed to me. And above all, why both? What's going on here?1 point

Nevertheless, it's still close source. I can tell what to try for those willing to disassemble it, but I shan't give precise instructions, I respect win32's choice to make it close source. A small hint. JetBrain's free .NET Decompiler and Assembly Browser, and off you go, it might help those willing to dig.1 point

More likely to reduce the amount of work they would've to do each time the new version is released. I mean, no need to constantly cut out the unneeded code parts from chromium itself. Basically, the file consists of wisely stubbed/redirected APIs. (a compliment to win32)1 point

There was a leak, my first release wasn't protected with X-prot, so someone, someone I shared my app with, had hacked it and made another launcher app based on my knowledge, but it's nowhere near as good as the original, that person didn't know all secrets. Clearer now?1 point

What do you mean? I decided not to. Some people don't appreciate our hard work and make scandals out of thin air. I also made Supermium starter app. But share only with the ones I want.1 point

Most likely it depends on the outer box maker. I use this Philips on the image below, it does power down with other USB tools, including Vista's built in, but you wouldn't know, would you? Somewhere in 2006-2007 Philips launches the World's First 1TB External HDD, I bought several ones at once, some of them where upgraded to another HDD sizes, like 2TB, but the boxes are the same, made by Philips, all aluminium.1 point

Oh, just found this. "I do not believe you can. In October 2021 Nvidia dropped support for Win 7, 8, and 8.1 and the 3050 was released recently so that is why the older drivers will not recognize it." https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-RTX-3050-on-Windows-7-m3532944.aspx1 point

People say what nVidia declares on their site is not true. "RTX 3060 will work under W7 but newest RTX 3050 will not." (despite what nVidia claims) https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/nvidias-rtx-drivers-support-windows-7-but-blacklist-8-1-install.293507/post-47300811 point

As the last resort, try to edit nvlddmkm.sys to skip the OS_VER checks, but gotta have at least some experience with it.1 point

Well, that's the question for nVidia, I guess. nVidia swears it should work, officially. Look under the supported products. https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/197673/en-us/ Probably you need to contact the laptop manufacturer. There's a well known fact when manufacturers implement artificial blocks against certain OS.1 point
