  1. A wide selection here, but unfortunately no 1.49 https://github.com/portapps/brave-portable/releases

  2. Last Brave that works on Windows 7 is from the early 1.50 range or better 1.49 range. Basically you need to find the one that is based on Chrome 109. Later don't work.

  3. Some fast research - Brave community page tells us it's based on Chromium 120.0.6099.144 https://community.brave.com/t/release-channel-1-61-109/522518 It shouldn't start on Windows 7 by the definition. But you're very welcome to try and tell us.

  4. I have now updated the article only because of a trick. The MSFN post editor is also completely broken for certain content that is manually quoted. The last months, any editing of especially older posts is a pure game of chance.

  5. Same here on the latest New Moon. Well, at least the scrollbar at the very bottom works to display the rest of the code. But I hope for you all that this can be fixed. In the meantime, click on the 'Raw' button and there will be no scrollbar. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ntvmb/wxp-installer-for-winpe/main/INSTALL.BAT

  6. Taskbar and letting it burn has been around for ~30 years as is, have some respect.

  7. Not that I know. As I've said in other threads, I use a cut-down version of XP (UE6). In those versions updates and patches are considered junk that bogs down the system instead of improving it. I also told you all that I like to customise the looks of the system completely and while I tried to use SP3 for greater compatibility it always gave me a lot of problems and could never get anything to work. That's why I'm sticking with SP2. Thanks mina7601 and VistaLover for communicating that exists SP2 compatibility for Supermium. I try to stay tuned but you guys are always many steps ahead. Thank you very much indeed.

  8. Just for testing purpose, I reinstalled the old uBlock Origin 1.16.4.30 version in MailNews. On the Settings tab, I get the "details is null" error caused by the settings.js file, on the Filter lists tab the "listDetails is null" error caused by the 3p-filters.js file and on the My filters tab the "details is null" error caused by the 1p-filters.js file. To reproduce these errors you have to call up each of these tabs and simply reload them via the context menu (right click everywhere on the corresponding site).

  9. Yep, that's the actual problem.

  10. Thanks for testing! That's of course very strange. The posted error message I got on all setting pages providing an export function.
    2 points
  11. Okay! But what do you think about the corresponding error message "Error: TypeError: details is null" on the affected setting pages of uBlock Origin? Isn't that an error out by uBO? The variable details belongs to a function on uBO's JavaScript file settings.js.

  12. Yes, 3070-3080 would be more future proof, besides having the drivers.

  13. Update notification! CurrPorts has been updated on 13.12.2023 and is now available in version 2.77. It is still listed to be compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I'll update my article as soon as possible. Cheers, AstroSkipper PS: My article about CurrPorts can't be updated at the moment due to the broken MSFN post editor. Maybe, one day when it has been fixed.

  14. This driver is from the same old R470 batch, it's just security crap they added to make it look like it's new. R470 batch is very old, it was released before the said GPU even existed.

  17. Thanks, perhaps you missed, yesterday there was an investigation, in which a conclusion had been made, it's not really portable (it needs to place file/files into OS folder), but most importantly- it writes to ones registry. So not suitable as a portable suggestion for this topic. writes to registry https://msfn.org/board/topic/185045-supermium/?do=findComment&comment=1259018 file in system32 folder https://msfn.org/board/topic/185045-supermium/?do=findComment&comment=1259022

  18. Well, then it's not portable. Ungoogled is fully portable by using only the two flags, everything is saved, and no need to complicate life with any third party tools.

  19. Please define "completely". So you want to say you can copy the supermium folder with your existing profile to another PC, and it keeps all your settings, passwords, extensions, cookies, etc? I'd like to see the proof of that. Thanks.

  20. That's why I still didn't write my own portable starter programme for that browser. One of the reasons.

  22. Mighty fine! Thank you @ED_Sln, @MilkChan. I'll test the updated versions, I hope they do not require some additional kernel functions that WinXP_SP3 (SP4_Harkaz) doesn't have. I use Harkaz's USP4 for all my XP installs now. What I can say thus far is that the 5.2.3790.3959 works very well with XPSP3 (for now tested in VM) system boots quite a bit faster (with AttachWhenLoaded = 1, it is so in Win7 too). This shows how much this driver is important for good operation of the OS: hard drive/file system is the slowest component and to have a driver as important as fltmgr to perform badly - it slows down the whole system considerably and can cause stutters at high disk loads. If we look at the .inf, XP uses 2001-made fltmgr with its 2008_SP3 5.1.2600.5512 release, 2003 uses 2002-made driver in the form of 5.2.3790.3959 so it signifies a considerable upgrade to XP. Update: I have downloaded the XP and 2003 x86 version of the KB2839229 (you don't have to unpack it, just open it with 7zip and "View" _sfx_manifest_ file - will tell you the contents), @ED_Sln, and wouldn't you know it, the M$ b*stards included kernel updates to both systems, but fltmgr update to only Win2003. More and more are my suspicions confirmed: they wanted to kill XP because of its great popularity and they did so by making it hobble at the slowest computer subsystem - file storage. Quite telling. They shan't prevail, that's for sure! Update II: All the way - version 5.2.3790.5107 works just fine so far. Thank you again, @ED_Sln.

  24. Thanks! However, it was @reboot12 who originally posted this issue. So, we mainly hope for him that this can be fixed. I personally think it is a minor issue which doesn't occur when the window is in full size. I wouldn't have even noticed this issue if it hadn't been reported here. Presumably, this issue is CSS related. But just a guess.

  25. There is a newer fltmgr.sys file but it was in the leaked ESU Update. KB4512787-KB4512788 x64 https://archive.org/details/5eraphupdatepacks x86 https://archive.org/details/windowsnt-UpdatePacks My Source Update Packs that I sorted has been updated. form abbodi1406 I can't add abbodi1406's topic link. It seems forbidden.

  26. github is badly displaying the code and the horizontal scrolling bar does not work in Serpent 52.9.0:

  27. Although the update is 2015, but the fltmgr.sys file in it is dated January 2013. The KB2839229 update contains the same file of the same version. In earlier updates there are only kernel updates, apparently there are no other versions of fltmgr.sys.

  28. Looks like the latest version is 5.2.3790.5107, in the KB3045999 update. The fltmgr.sys file from it: https://www.upload.ee/files/16379770/fltmgr.zip.html

  29. Thanks D.Draker, Karla Sleutel for the information. Still have limited knowledge on the Windows 7 OS and material. Using the last Firefox Windows 7 portable browser but would still like to have a second backup browser. Firefox works very well at this time. Thanks again ...

  32. GitHub member Okmeque1 has recently reported that the very latest Hotfix (R2) release, https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases/tag/v122-hf is able to launch and run successfully in his machine; it has WinXP SP2 x86 as the OS : https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/341#issuecomment-1984464451 https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/341#issuecomment-1987143081 Full thread here ; you may then want to give it a try yourself ...

  33. Supposing is unfortunately never enough. And what about Windows XP 32-bit? Windows Vista is not the topic here. You stated in a previous post: Which version of Panda Free Antivirus and which operation system did you refer to? You surely know this thread is about Windows XP. Such unspecific statements only confuse the readers of this thread. More details, please!

  34. No prob., so you tried to add the device ID to the driver I gave? Well, indeed very sad, then.

  35. Update notification! Panda Free Antivirus has been updated on 27.12.2023 and is now of version 22.02.01. Thus, I'll update my article and my list in terms of Panda Free Antivirus. Maybe. one of you can test the new version first of all under Windows XP SP3 32 bit to be sure it is still compatible as advertised here: https://www.pandasecurity.com/en/homeusers/windows-antivirus/ This is a quotation from this website: And again, such a confirmation would be great as we all already know, the proof is in the pudding. 39. Here we can observe confirmations from multiple users: "45 seconds to start up Supermium..." https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/358 Like I said, this doesn't happen to me with Ungooggled. For me, it's not 45 seconds, but more like several seconds vs milliseconds in Ungoogled, still very high, especially if we consider the fact Supermium "greets" me with a blank white screen (despite the dark theme currently forced on), and it stays unresponsive for like 7-10 seconds. With extensions it'd be much, much longer.

  40. Update notification! Malware Hunter has been updated on 05.03.2024 and is now available in version 1.180.0.800. I have tested this version on my system, and it is still compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I've updated my article and my list. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  41. Which version do you refer to? And don't forget this thread is about security programmes under Windows XP only. The last time, when I installed Panda Free Antivirus under Windows XP 32-bit, all was fine. No problems at all.

  42. Dude, please do some proper research before posting. Chromium license has nothing to do with Supermium, Supermium has "progwrp.dll" (without it it doesn't work) - Supermium is *officially* a close source programme. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/309#issuecomment-1974917968

  44. This is very insulting to say such a thing to a girl! Yes, we girls are sensitive. I just saw win32 appeared here some time ago, read the usual nonsense, and didn't reply again, which proves the point of @AstragonQC, @Dixel, me and all other members who wish well to this project and want it to continue. You're very rude, you need to apologize.

  45. Thank you it's needed to be said. Some fail to understand how easy is to let a project down. Some do it without realizing it. Some do it on purpose.

  46. In that topic they discuss the portability of the Supermium's installer and or Supermium itself, but not the ability to store passwords, extensions and the such in the portable version, which the OP requested. For this win32 would need to re-implement the above flags I pointed out to.

  47. Where did you see Supermium declared itself freely editable open source? Link please.

  48. Download UnGoogled Chromium here: https://portapps.io/app/ungoogled-chromium-portable/ Then simply replace everything in the chrome folder with. https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/windows/64bit/109.0.5414.120-1 or https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/windows/64bit/109.0.5414.75-1 Here is what differs from the original release to ensure portability: Following switches are passed to the process. --user-data-dir=<data_path>: Directory where the browser stores the user profile. <data_path> is dynamically generated at launch. --no-default-browser-check: Stops Ungoogled Chromium from checking if it is the default browser at startup. --disable-logging: Force logging to be disabled. --disable-breakpad: Disables the crash reporting. --disable-machine-id: Allows disabling the machine ID generation on Windows. --disable-encryption-win: Allows disabling encryption on Windows for cookies, passwords, settings… --disable-machine-id and --disable-encryption-win have been specially crafted to ensure portability. This means that passwords, cookies and other settings will not be encrypted on your hard drive. It is therefore advisable to have this data on an encrypted hard disk. Still having difficulties? Try this ready made release (but older). https://github.com/portapps/ungoogled-chromium-portable/releases/tag/103.0.5060.114-15
