I have again tested my new release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.33 regarding how effective the filter lists selected by me and some self-created filters are. Here are my results in New Moon 28 on two adblocker test sites without using any other content blockers: The release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.33 is fully working, and its performance is great from what I could see so far. Cheers, AstroSkipper6 points

Update of uBlock Origin Legacy to version 1.16.4.33 I have again updated my special mod uBlock Origin Legacy from version 1.16.4.32 to version 1.16.4.33. I fixed the loading errors of the filter list "Online Malicious URL Blocklist (AdGuard)" which only occur from time to time. Furthermore, I found some further strings which I edited according to the extension's name change performed in version 1.16.4.32. And I added new filter lists to different groups. The "StevenBlack/hosts" filter lists are very strong and restrictive. So in some cases, you have to set exclusions when using them. Here is a screenshot taken from the dashboard tab "Filter lists" of uBlock Origin 1.16.4.33 in New Moon 28: The filter lists outlined in green are the ones I have added in this release. A detailed changelog and the download link of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.33 can be found in my main article uBlock Origin Legacy - A special mod by @AstroSkipper. Hi, I'm curios, do you use the below function, as a die-hard Firefox user. Preferably better to reply there, thanks. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186026-further-encrypting-firefox-traffic-with-hybrid-kyber-kem-which-they-claim-to-be-more-secure/ Please don't forget to vote.5 points

So, it doesn't matter whether we, he, specified the exact part number, they all are ready to accept additional over-clocking parameters, and the manufacturer applied these in advance. So yeah, it's not just "marketing", even the lowest performing Hyper X is already over-clocked, to begin with.4 points

DDR3 RAM default clock approved and standardized by JEDEC is 1066MHZ only! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM Everything else, including 1333MHZ is not standardised by JEDEC and considered to be over-clock, meaning it works out-of specs already.4 points

Replace capacitors. Use only good ones like Philips, Rubycon (be aware that Ebay is flooded with fakes). I had a similar problem with my monitor (weird response to commands from the front panel). Replaced caps - all went back to normal.4 points

I was in the same shoes with that poor chap, soon after 1 year of warranty ended, files started to disappear, big files started to lose parts, like an mp4 video 8Gb in size. HDD sentinel didn't pick any signs of failing at all. I think most of us had encounters with that drive, I only had 2 of them, both in that infamous Apple boxes, both behaved weirdly and failed soon after. And no, it's not a server model, not suitable for a data centre. It's a very basic disk, consumer grade model.4 points

The trend goes on, unfortunately. All ports I've seen so far - all are not Ungoogled. Supermium still has lots of connections to Google, despite the flags that had been introduced. Probably a good idea to block such IPs in batches.4 points

Solved the problem with monochrome emoji on Windows 7 and display emoji on Windows XP using Twemoji for chrome extension. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/twemoji-for-chrome/fopgafjdjlongoeblobbafbnapafcicg Emoji are downloaded online, so the extension itself is very small and does not use much memory. This is how it was on Win XP:2 points

Update 2024: Prime video no longer supports Silverlight and says your browser is unsupported if you run it on the old version of Seamonkey or any browser that doesn't support the necessary HTML5 video and DRM. Netflix dropped support for Silverlight back in September 2023, they made a post about it here https://help.netflix.com/en/node/2090 Amazon prime video hasn't made any official announcement but they haven't been that well known for using Silverlight anyway compared to Netflix. I can confirm that Prime video worked with Silverlight back in 2021, the reason it didn't work in my previous post initially is because I ran it on Windows XP integral edition. It is a modified version of XP so I guess it messed up Silverlight in some way. It worked perfectly fine in a clean XP build that was manually updated and on Windows 10 on my main PC back then.2 points

Smart kids are smart, but when it comes to these technologies, all kids can do things you wouldn't expect. The advice the guy that runs a small phone (sales and repairs) shop around the corner gave to my mom last time, after having explained her how to change settings of her (new) smartphone was: "If you have issues, come here and we will try and solve them, if we are closed, ask the younger kids you can find, they will know how to ..." jaclaz2 points

This is just pure funny ... a six year old girl with knowledge of swiping her mother's fingerprint and then ordering stuff on Amazon. This girl has been very observant and a fast learner. Wonder what life will be like for the parents when she's ten years old. Thanks to 'the Finder' for posting. This happened last year with a five year old girl ordering from Amazon. Musicscope is a beautiful sound analyzer. See https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=106397#p106397. Notice that the 32bit java version there posted is functional in XP (at least for system use, I restrict java in browsers unless needed, and haven't needed it for a couple of decades or so).2 points

If you mean the batch commands for downloading the root and revoked certificates, then I have to say they work as usual. I could download them a few minutes ago, and they are from 29.11.2022. No new updates since then.2 points

@roytam1! MailNews is a great email client and works perfectly with all of my email providers. It is exactly what I need to manage my email accounts under Windows XP. And the fact that it is based on Thunderbird 52 is even better. Thunderbird is very well documented and supports my beloved, legacy extensions, and additionally complete themes, dictionaries, search engines and so on. Thanks a lot for that!2 points

That's because that is only one half, one third, one fourth of the problem. Only after you resolve array.at does structuredclone error show up. Then after you resolve that, you're likely to encounter even more errors. @VistaLover, thank you for the disambiguation information of the New Moon and Serpent products. Presumably, the ""status-4-ever"" component you refer to, is the Moonchild's "Pale Moon status bar" extension (a fork of Sparky Bluefang's "Status-4-Evar" extension) that was bundled as an extension with Pale Moon through the end of the 26.* series. As of the 27 series, the extension was no longer included as such with Pale Moon, but instead was incorporated in a different manner. I checked roytam1's build offerings at https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/index.php?sort=date&order=desc , but did not find the New Moon 20220812 build that you mentioned that you believed was the last build that contained the fully working mentioned component. Please verify the build and report.1 point

A separate topic is probably more appropriate. But yes, we have tested BCW files of Extended Kernel or KDW. Our results are in several topics. Not all files are suitable on ME/98 with KernelEx! Jumper recommends msvcrt.dll (v7.0.9981.0 or v6.1.9848.0) with KernelEx. I usually use 7.0.9981.0. Goodmaneuver also has version v8.0.40607.52, which he had successfully tested on his system. Later versions of 8.0 or 7.1 are not usable or cause special errors on ME/98/KernelEx. https://web.archive.org/web/20230602195245/https://kernelex.sourceforge.net/wiki/VLC_Media_Player https://web.archive.org/web/20230506001046/https://kernelex.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php?title=Category:Compatible_applications&redirect=no1 point

To clarify, . As noted by @genieautravailyou can find the latest available xp buils in https://github.com/artenax/tor/releases/tag/0.4.7.8, towards the end of the assets menu. If you need obfs4proxy "The last official working obfs4proxy.exe for XP was version 0.0.7 from Tor Browser 8.5.5. I built obfs4proxy.exe version 0.0.11 working on XP. But 0.0.11 doesn't work with the new tor.exe. However, it works with tor 0.4.3.6 and 0.4.4.6." I put https://github.com/artenax/tor/releases/download/0.4.7.8/obfs4proxy-0.0.11-x86-xp.exe and https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbrowser/10.0.11/tor-win32-0.4.4.6.zip in the same folder, with the torrc file, and all seems to work well. Still not the latest tor, but functional.1 point

Greetings ; what do you mean by "still" ? Was it working in UXP-based browsers and then stopped? How long ago was that? Have you already reported that breakage in the past and you now feel disgruntled the issue remains unresolved? Please be aware that UXP, as a platform, is not very good at supporting these so-called web (in-browser) editions of popular chat/messaging applications, which are usually optimised for recent Chromium-based browsers (or just for the browsers on your mobile device ) ... Such web-compat issues are usually for "upstream" (MCP) to address, but if one asks "there", the standard answer from "them" is: "Use the dedicated Windows application"; this is, of course, no consolation for XP/Vista users, because most of these apps now require at minimum Win7 (soon to be Win10 ?) ... Searching in the PMForums, someone there suggested using a "legacy" URI of the form: https://web.telegram.org/?legacy=1#/login , does it still work on you for log-in purposes? ... In my "dirty" St52 profile, all I get is a white/empty page inside a thin-lined black frame , much like what @mina7601 has already posted... It would appear the most important clue inside the Web Console simply eluded you ; the page deploys a script which performs browser-feature checks: https://web.telegram.org/a/compatTest.js UXP then fails those tests , because it doesn't, yet, support "Intl.DisplayNames", a JS feature which was first implemented in Fx-86/Ch-81: It just so happened that "upstream" (MCP) have opened a UXP issue for that just 6 days ago, but so far it hasn't received any activity ... A polyfill for that missing function already exists ; my JS-coding skills are non-existent , but I tried to make a userscript out of it (and inject it through Violentmonkey), problem being the script gets quite large when you add all the needed "locale.data" ... Another issue is that, during my tests, I discovered that for the userscript to work on "telegram.org", one has to globally disable CSP protection in the browser, which. in itself, is a security risk ... FWIW, with my basic "polyfill-as-userscript" and CSP (temporarily) disabled (security.csp.enable;false), the offending web page finally loads: I don't own a mobile device (yet anyway , by my government has other "plans" for its subordinates ), nor do I have an account with Telegram, so my experiments ended just there ... Kind regards.1 point

FWIW, there's nothing "standard" about NM27 here ; to add to what Mathwiz has posted: "Pale Moon" is an upstream browser application, which has a GUI from the pre-Australis Fx era; also, members here must understand the distinction between platform and application (Mozilla are the ones to blame for this confusion, because they had equated the Mozilla platform, not used solely by Fx, to their main browser, Firefox) ... When PM was at its major version 27 (did not support XP, Vista support was rudimentary), the platform it was built on was called Tycho, a fork of the Mozilla ESR 38 platform - the browser engine of PM27 was called Goanna version 3. The roytam1 fork derived from PM27 was/is New Moon 27 (NM27) ; as the web became more-and-more Googl-ised , PM27/Tycho started being crippled at loading many popular sites, so "upstream" (MCP) abandoned the Tycho platform and moved on, first to UXP Take 1 (aka Moebius), forked from a Mozilla 53.0a1 platform snapshot, and soon after to UXP Take 2 (just UXP now), forked from Mozilla ESR 52[.6] platform; PM27 became PM28; Pale Moon is currently at v33.0, but it's still built on UXP; both the paltform (UXP) and the browser application (PM) are being developed independently from Mozilla/Firefox... When upstream (MCP) abandoned Tycho (and PM27), roytam1 chose to keep his forked platform and browser (NM27) for the sake of Win2k/XP users on very old H/W, that doesn't support the SSE2+ instruction set ; as of this writing, NM27 and its browser engine, Goanna 3, is being "updated" based on a new "upstream", the developer (rmottola) behind the Artic-Fox project; this project aims to develop a (semi-)usable browser on old Macs, unsupported by Apple and the mainstream browser vendors; the project strives to "uplift" the browser from a Mozilla 38 platform snapshot (like in PM27/Tycho) to more recent versions, hence the large number of weekly updates (there's a lot of catching-up to do when you're still at a Fx mid-40s level) ... Also, Arctic-Fox isn't New Moon 27, hence several bugs that plague the latter are being reported by (the few?) NM27 users... To put it bluntly, I have now no need for this fork, because its web-compatibility is severely impaired in 2024; in addition to that, Roy is publishing SSE-compatible builds of NM28+St52, so if your old H/W can cope, it's advisable you use these instead of NM27... NM27 has inherited from PM27 a "status-4-ever" internal component, but as the platform is being updated by rmottola to Fx43+, this component has been partially BROKEN, breaking with it several download-related functions/extensions/userstyles/userscripts etc.; I have kept, for archival purposes, a NM27 build from 20220812, which seems to be the last with no such issues... As for NM28 (and St52), this is being updated mostly by backporting MCP code, especially in the platform aspect of it, and occasionally PM-specific (and Bk-specific) code is also being backported; and don't let the appVersion (28) confuse you ; Roy, for reasons he has explained in the past, decided to "freeze" the major version at 28, but latest NM28 embeds platform code to be found even in the latest PM33 "official" release ...1 point

There is a documented bug with SSL certificates. I suggest a temp. fix, but be warned, it not advisable to use with unknown websites!. Simply add this flag via CMD. (to your shortcut, for example) --ignore-certificate-errors Without quotes,1 point

Restart & Purge - A custom button for restarting the browser and, if necessary, purging the startup cache, created by AstroSkipper As I have already reported in @roytam1's browser thread, I have been investigating the restart behaviour of New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 (and also Mypal 68, but this is off-topic here) for some time with a focus on the startup cache. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find much useful information or documentation on this topic on the internet. Even my request in @roytam1's browser thread also went unanswered (addendum: in the meanwhile, @VistaLover has replied here. Thanks again for that! ). It seems that detailed information or knowledge about the startup cache and how the browser restart affects this cache is practically non-existent. The startup cache seems to be a replacement for the former Fastload. It resides in the profile directory to store continuous chunks of data in it. In my New Moon 28 installation, without using the custom folder chrome for scripts and CSS stylesheets, only one file resides there with the name startupCache.4.little. As both, the folder and file name, contain the string startupcache, one can conclude that data is stored inside this file to accelerate the startup of the browser. Which data exactly I really don't know. I didn't find any meaningful documentation. I noticed that very often or in most cases the startup cache was cleared or reorganised automatically without any additional commands when restarting the browser. Sometimes, however, it remained unchanged after a restart. At least, I could find the code responsible for purging the startup cache. Anyway! One thing is clear. If the data in the startup cache is corrupted, then starting problems can occur which only can be solved by deleting its content. This can be done, for example, manually or by the commandline option -purgecaches. But there is no button or item to start this purge of the startup cache in a convenient way from within the UXP browsers. That's why I created a custom button for this purpose in JavaScript (rather a variant of JavaSript), the programming language used for creating new custom buttons by the extension Custom Buttons. I branded this custom button Restart & Purge. It performes a normal restart when left-clicked and additionally purges the startup cache when middle-clicked. After creation I have tested this custom button over a longer period of time, and it works for me as it should. Here is a small screenshot of my custom button Restart & Purge and its tooltip taken from New Moon 28: As the code of Restart & Purge has to be initialised, you won't find it in the tab "Code" but in the tab "Initialization code" of this custom button. Here is a screenshot of its code: The former download links unfortunately contained an XML backup file of the Restart & Purge custom button which either couldn't be installed without additional editing or some characters were not transferred correctly. The problem has to do with the conversion of custom buttons into XML format, where the tool I had used did not work correctly. This time I therefore provide a custom button link for direct install (when the extension Custom Buttons is already installed, of course ). Copy the quoted link below and open it in a new browser tab: I can't insert the code of the link in this post! The MSFN forum editor is totally broken and hasn't been working properly for months especially when it comes to inserting of links. This has already reported multiple times! Well done, who is responsible for it! Due to the shortcomings of the MSFN forum editor, I uploaded the custom button link of Restart & Purge as an HTML file. Here is the download link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/nrqim7ek9s6gp07/CB_button_Restart_%26_Purge.html/file Simply open this HTML file in a browser tab and click the embedded custom button link for Restart & Purge! For the installation of this button, the extension Custom Buttons is required which you can get from this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1226328 And since the legacy Custom Buttons extension runs in the UXP browsers, my custom button Restart & Purge can be used in New Moon 28, Serpent 52, Pale Moon and some other browsers. And so that you don't get the impression that everything in the Pale Moon forum is hostile and unfair, here's a post from back2themoon, the creator of the thread "New uBlock Origin version released (Special mod by @AstroSkipper)", who has something positive and factual to say about my mod uBlock Origin Legacy: Source: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=30787&sid=feea3eb912a653ba49c1fb3c2bc447f3&start=60#p248386 Many thanks to back2themoon for this fair and factual contribution!1 point

The second is true : Ok, just to clarify what I actually meant. I assumed @roytam1 updated the link in the form of a redirect, of course by reporting to eclipse.cx. He is logically (at least with probability bordering on certainty) not the owner of eclipse.cx and not able to establish such a redirect.1 point

I assume, @roytam1 updated the link in the form of a redirect, presumably to avoid having to manually change all existing links. This is an update, anyways.1 point
