How would you define "good life"? Jeez, I don't know what to say. Some heavy burden...probably nothing I would've said would be new or helpful for that matter. Understandable. In the end, they're just words, not miracles. If we could transfer our bubbles far away...I don't know. Hey, anyone else knows Globus? Eh, we can do real-life conversations without concept of "likes". Not like that anyway. Maybe ease up on react buttons (everyone, I mean). It's feeling kinda forced in recent times. I have backup of OS partition for a change, heck even 2 backups, but unsure if it works there or not. And the latest is still older backup and some things were tweaked since. Ugh, life would be simpler with everything @ default. I'll leave it for now. Guess no weather widget for me. I mean it usually works for few hours, but I don't want to use it if it'll keep crashing. I'm slow and despite messing with computers for waaay too long, I still do a bunch of things the Flintstones way. Yabba dabba doo!3 points

It's a wide spectrum. I guess I just know few bits there and there. I used to write patches for some old games, those that nobody bothered with. So got tiny bit of taste of x86 assembly and C. It was nice, to work by myself at my own pace. Got asked few times how you do these things and I've honestly no idea how to explain them, it's not something for a forum post. A friend back then suggested I could ask for donations. I think I only said I dunno or something, later, my thoughts were money just ruins everything. Had to get a "real" job at some point, after which I eventually abandoned all my work, which could still use some polishing touches. No energy/will for these things anymore. Financially stable, for now...other than that just flowing through existence, putting one foot in front of another, day by day... Ugh, several months ago I submitted Slovenian translation for Stylem extension (for UXP browsers), realized few days afterwards that I should really change the wording of one string as the most direct translation just comes out wrong and dumb in Slovenian, still haven't got to it... Having it in the taskbar is neat IMO, but I'm more bothered by the fact something's broken in my installation. I bumped up my Windows 10 version for few builds recently for some bugfixes of interest, funny I was doing it in the late evening and I passed out shortly after inputting DISM command to install the update package. Must have taken a while and when I woke up in the morning - "The operation completed successfully." - phew! Booting took significantly longer than usual and so did logging in, but it seems to have stabilized after few days. Thanks, will read. It's difficult with all the toxicity out there.2 points

Hi Mina ... Just sitting here drinking chamomile tea and I meditated two times today and brought myself out of doldrums. I feel calm at least but worried at the same time, so I don't know what to say but I'm very happy to see your guys here. I just feel so insignificant because I don't know much about computers and I get lost easily. How are you doing? I hope well.2 points

Greetings. "libcurl 7.69 with schannel" and "curl 7.46 with openssl" - is a incomparable thing :-( There is some problems with OpenSSL and "Let's Encrypt" certificates, so simplest way is to use ProxyMII + custom libcurl. In attachment - libcurl 7.69.1 with schannel, built on Visual Studio C Express 2008 with forced disabled revocation (string 516 in lib\vtls\schannel.c). Please set masterserver_debug to "Off" - or this library may crash (i can't understood - why?) Best regards. libcurl.7z2 points

If you are trying to install Vista on a Surface Pro or UEFI-only machine, this tutorial is for you. This tutorial shows you how to install Windows Vista on a Surface Pro. This tutorial is meant for the Surface Pro 1, but could work on any other UEFI-only device, which it should, but not guaranteed. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Boot the USB. This ISO uses a Windows 10 PE, but has a Windows Vista install.wim. 2. Open command prompt by pressing "Shift+F10" 3. On the command prompt, type in the following commands: diskpart sel dis 0 clean conv gpt cre par efi size=100 form quick fs=fat32 assign letter w cre par pri form quick assign letter c exit D:\ (where your USB is) cd sources dism /apply-image /imagefile:install.wim /index:1 /applydir:C:\ - If DISM doesn't work, go to D:\support\tools\gimagex and deploy the image with gimagex.exe in the x64 folder bcdboot C:\Windows /s W: 4. Open up Notepad, and click "Open" or "Save As". Enable all files to be viewed. Go to W:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot and copy the BCD file and paste it onto the Windows Vista partition. 5. Go back to diskpart by typing "diskpart" in the command prompt. 6. Type in the following commands: sel dis 0 sel vol w form quick fs=fat32 exit 7.. Go back to Notepad, and click "Open" or "Save As". Enable all files to be viewed. Go to the USB drive, then go to the FlashBootPro folder, then copy the "EFI" folder. 8. Go to W:\ and paste the EFI folder. 9. Go to the Windows Vista partition and cut "BCD". 10. Go to W:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot and paste "BCD" on the folder. 11. Reboot. You should be logged in to the Administrator account. Narrator is enabled on the device. If the screen is not displaying anything, go to screen resolution and set it to 1024x768. The screen should now work. Proof of Windows Vista working on Surface Pro 1: IMPORTANT NOTE: If you try to install Vista on a SP2 or higher or a post-Ivy Bridge machine, your machine will have a lot of bugs and issues as all Vista post-Ivy Bridge machines do.1 point

I've never been much of an update person. I went from Win 7's original release to SP1, and after that I've just pretty much left it alone. I don't know if my PC has all sorts of security issues or not. Everything I do online is done through Sandboxie. My system works fine, and I've never found any malware on it when I use the free checker tools. Regardless of that, for whatever reason it's finally occurred to me that maybe I should get my system more currently updated. I've read A LOT about updating Win 7, how it stopped for the most part in January 2020, etc. To make a long story short, this is what I've done, and I'd like some opinions on whether I should do more, or do anything differently. [Note: I installed these updates on a fresh Win 7 SP1 x64 system, but the goal is to integrate them into the ISO and reinstall] Installed, I believe in this order, based on what I read was needed in order to get the big updates to install: KB4474419: SHA-2 update KB4490628: Servicing Stack update from 3/2019. [the Microsoft Update Catalog site didn't show it as being replaced by a newer version, so I assumed it was needed even when later versions of SS updates were released?] KB4536952: Servicing Stack update from 1/2020 [didn't know if this was needed] KB3125574: Convenience Rollup from 5/2016 KB4534310: 1/14/2020 monthly rollup KB4534314: 1/14/2020 security update Done. Everything installed without issue. No glitches, no flickering monitor, nothing. I had read that beginning in April 2019, PciClearStaleCache.exe needed to be "present" in order for monthly rollups to install. Wasn't exactly sure what that meant, but I also read that it only needed to be included in the same folder as whatever monthly rollup was being installed and it would install. So that's what I did. After I installed the 2016 Convenience Rollup, I put PciClearStaleCache.exe and the Jan. 2020 monthly rollup in the same folder, and it installed. So my update path was Win 7 SP1 ISO > Convenience Rollup > Jan. 2020 rollup. I've never liked the idea of letting Windows install updates automatically, so I've always had them turned off. I let it scan my system after the updating I did and it showed 21 important, 33 optional. The majority of them were older ones, before 2016. When I looked at the KB numbers on the Microsoft Catalog Update site, all of them showed as being replaced by the big 2016 Convenience Rollup I installed, so I'm not sure why it shows these updates to begin with? Other than a security update to .Net Framework, none of the more recent ones seem "important." I don't use Internet Explorer or Edge, and I'm not concerned with time zone or currency updates for countries half a world away. Sorry for the long post, but any thoughts on what I've done, how I've done it, or if I should do more? Thanks.1 point

Yes, @AeroSeeker, I agree with you that Linux is in many ways better than Windows 10, but one of the things I love about earlier Windows versions is that the UI was great (for example, Windows Vista's Aero UI and taskbar), but sadly, tweaking Linux to make it look just like a Windows Vista clone is impossible. I'm saying this because I'm not a fan on the Gnome, Mate, XFCE, LXDE etc.etc. themes in Linux.1 point
