XAudio2? Most versions of it are old, 2.0 to 2.7 are from 2008-2010, so old, but not that old. 2.8 shipped with Windows 8 and 2.9 shipped with Windows 10 and is available as redistributable DLL for Windows 7/8.x. Version 2.8 is redirected to 2.9 on Windows 10. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/xaudio2/xaudio2-versions Wouldn't it be better to fix whatever is messing with your audio? Still doesn't make sense presence of XAudio2 DLLs would mess with audio, they just sit there, waiting to be used by something that outputs, like other sound APIs' DLLs. Maybe @win32 knows something? I think we're all wasting time one way or another. Real life!? Meh...2 points

OP messed with the pagefile, at least I don't see any other logical explanation after code analysis unless that system is FUBARed in other ways effecting the outcome. One of the 3 conditions must be true for memory check to pass, in order of evaluation: 20 MB free RAM and 10 MB free space in pagefile 10 MB free RAM and 20 MB free space in pagefile 30 MB free space in pagefile If none pass, the error is shown:2 points

That's wrong. No end of support date have been decided yet. Also please note that this is not because Chromium ends support for Win7 that Mozilla will immediately follow. As Firefox does not rely on a Chromium base, they can continue providing support as long they want. For example if they wants to continue supporting W7 until 2026, they can (I'm not saying they will, but they're capable to). As you can see, the latest Nightly build runs on W7. If Mz planned to end the support in February as you said, Nightly should have be blocked on v109, as v111 represents the release that will be released in March. This scenario happened on Chrome & consorts, they blocked W7 on v109 on Canary builds in December when 110.0.xxxx.xx builds arrived, because if you plan to stop support on a product, providing alpha builds of the next version on it is just senseless.2 points

hey guys whats up! so i have this abit be6 mobo, that takes ISA slots, 2 isa slots so i decided to try to revisit the past and make a windows 3.11 box.. background ive got it working.. i installed ms-dos 6.22 , actually first i tried 7.1 with fat32 and that worked out horribly so i started over with a clean wipe of my 20gb ide drive to fat16, 2gb for the first pri dos partition, and then the rest isnt allocated for now.. but is in an extended partition with no logical partitions.. anyway so i have one c: drive fat 16 and 2gb in size.. running dos 6.22 i installed windows 3.11 fine.. installed my 3com networking 100baset card just fine the other hardware that i have is a midiman winman 4x4/s midi interface that provides 4 in 4 out midi connections.. and a sound blaster AWE32 the first time i tried to install the sound blaster awe32 with dos 7.1 worked amazing. it did everything on its own via the dos based installer.. and worked fine. now since started over with dos 6.22 i cant get the same installer to work properly.. im not sure if its a hardware conflict between the winman 4x4/s and the awe32.. i dont think so tho.. the winman4x4 is set up on 300h / irq 10 .. and the awe32 is at .. im not sure i cant find the settings atm.. internet explorer 5.0 on windows 3.11 now.. that aside. my other issue is the browsers i installed a few. opera.. netscape + internet explorer id like some help teling internet explorer to use the LAN connection. my networking is working as i can use Cute FTP to connect to my fileserver just fine.. but the internet explorer.. i cant get it to load any pages at all.. wikipedia says internet explorer 5 was released in 1999: "Version 5.0, launched on March 18, 1999" should i be trying a lower version?? oh and theres also an error message about somethign called "winsock" when windows first starts up anyway if someoen can help me figure this out or point me at a tutorial or book or something?? id be really grateful cubase for windows 1993 another issue is ive got cubase score for windows 1.03d installed and i cant figure out how to get any midi signals *IN* to cubase.. ie : to record my own playing i can draw notes in just fine with the mouse and they play back just fine.. via the winman 4x4/s... but in the arrange window, per track shows an "output" setting but no "input" setting and i cant find any input settings anywhere in the entire app!!! so confusing1 point

Finally got the time to create the much requested Update Repository for Vista. I've collected these updates a year ago, but only recently took the time to put them on my Mega account and organize them. It has roughly the same format as my post-EOL repositories, with x86 and amd64 versions. A few highlight points: Most updates come in ".cab" format, because at the time it was easier to manage bulk installations in this format (I was trying to update offline images) Includes hotfixes not distributed through Windows Update. These were collected through a mix of the now defunct MS Hotfix service and the website "hotfixshare". There's some interesting fixes in there. While most of the updates are language agnostic, some are specific to the language I use, Portuguese of Portugal (like the IE9 installer). If you'd like to provide a version for your language, please contact me. To install a ".cab" format update, just run the following command: start /w pkgmgr /ip /m:<path to updates> /s:<temp path for extraction> /l:<path for log files> /norestart To bulk install updates, I usually run the following set of commands: forfiles /p <path to update folder> /m *.cab /c "cmd /c mkdir @fname" forfiles /p <path to update folder> /m *.cab /c "cmd /c pkgmgr /ip /m:@file /s:@fname /norestart" The first command creates a folder for each individual update and the second one installs each update and extracts onto each created folder. Here's a practical example. Say, I have all of the updates from the repository located in my Downloads folder inside my user profile. In this case, I want to install every update in the "General" folder. I'd use the commands above like so: forfiles /p "C:\Users\greenhillmaniac\Downloads\General" /m *.cab /c "cmd /c mkdir @fname" forfiles /p "C:\Users\greenhillmaniac\Downloads\General" /m *.cab /c "cmd /c pkgmgr /ip /m:@file /s:@fname /norestart" I'd recommend you install no more than 200 updates at a time. This can also be used to create an updated Vista ISO for later use (tutorial coming soon™) Anyway, here's the link for the repository1 point

The FAA has very quietly tacitly admitted that the EKGs of pilots are no longer normal. We should be concerned. Very concerned. After the vaccine rolled out, the FAA secretly widened the EKG parameter range for pilots so they wouldn't be grounded. It looks like the vax gave at least 50M Americans heart damage. Steve Kirsch Jan 17 The FAA just telegraphed the fact that a substantial number of airline pilots have had serious heart damage from the COVID vaccine by widening the ECG parameters for pilots. Special thanks I was tipped off about this story by Josh Yoder at US Freedom Flyers. Please consider making a donation on their website. Thanks! Update 1/17/22 When asked about the change, the FAA couldn’t justify it. Uh oh. Fact checkers aren’t going to touch this story. Update 1/18/23 Vaccines are the leading causes of coincidences it seems. I just received this note: Steve, I am a 66 yr old commercial aviator with no previous heart problems. On Jan 6, my first class medical was deferred, due to 2nd AB block, Mobitz type 2 (see picture of EKG with diagnosis). I am asymptomatic. I received both Moderna injections (March&April 2021). No booster. I am an ex endurance athlete (road bike racer) and do not and have not taken any routine medication) I’m awaiting an appointment with. Cardiologist next week. Coincidentally, my wife suffered a severe heart attack in May 2021, 8 days after her first Moderna injection. She had no previous history of heart problems. Thanks for your writing! Executive summary In the October 2022 version of the FAA Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners, the FAA quietly widened the EKG parameters beyond the normal range (from a PR max of .2 to unlimited). And they didn’t widen the range by a little. They widened it by a lot. It was done after the vaccine rollout. This is extraordinary. They did it hoping nobody would notice. It worked for a while. Nobody caught it. But you can’t hide these things for long. This is a tacit admission from the US government that the COVID vaccine has damaged the hearts of our pilots. Not just a few pilots. A lot of pilots and a lot of damage. The cardiac harm of course is not limited to pilots. My best guess right now is that over 50M Americans sustained some amount of heart damage from the shot. That’s a lot of people who will be very upset when they realize the vaccine they took to reduce their chance of dying from COVID actually worked in reverse making it: More likely that people will get COVID Be hospitalized from COVID and other diseases Die from COVID (and other diseases) You also have an excellent chance of getting a lifetime of heart damage for no extra charge.... I think, and I'm a bit worried, about the twists and turns in my head, it almost makes me fall when I get up for the first time... it's new, since 3 days. I feel as if my brain is spinning in my head when I'm getting up and I almost lose my balance... And I'm careful not to stand up too quickly. Maybe it's because my little pillow isn't positioned properly and sometimes hurts my neck. But maybe you would prefer me to talk about games... I don't like electronic games, I've never played them, I don't like artificial representations of characters doing things that are impossible for real people to do, I think it's stuff for children and a waste of time instead of doing something useful in our unique lives, sorry... So you get into the artificial, and then you lose your only time in the real, in life... sorry. The difference is like the difference between a real woman and a doll. That's what I think. And you, what do you think about all this?1 point

Actually it would be more like the Fourth. 1st I was heating up, second - self inflicted injury (not due to clumsiness) - so it was shorter (not full). The 3rd one - very adventorous and I liked it. But MK 11 on Vista, I couldn't live without it ! The reds would have to wait. Maybe I'll not go there anymore at all. It's a quite expensive adventure. But I'll not tell for sure, let them live in fear ...1 point

True. Regarding the chrome://gpu page, take note of the "Diagnostics" section. Compare/contrast that section when your 360Chrome includes the SwiftShader .dll's versus excludes the SwiftShader .dll's (excluding causes crashes on first launch each and every system restart for me).1 point

@George King v8 must be x64/x32 update to fix SSDT race condition issue on multi-core CPU, but then i found w2003 .h headers mismatch. May be XP headers also mismatch, i don't know yet. So v8 will include .h patches, but it require much more time, unfortunately BINDIFF doesn't show difference in offsets, instead needs manual comparing source .h files with MS SP2/SP3 acpi.pdb decompiled. example of headers problem: W2003 RTM(leaked files): mov ecx, [eax+04] ; 04 - offset of YYY.XXX W2003 SP1(WRK): mov ecx, [eax+06] ; 06 - offset of YYY.XXX W2003 SP2(MS binary): mov ecx, [eax+08] ; 08 - offset of YYY.XXX YYY - kernel structure, XXX - field inside structure1 point

Yeah good to separate it II think as why I left mental health sites as most people would write at their low spot and during crisis and people would support them but being around people always down brings you down, now don't get me wrong, friendship is a (supposed to be) two-way street and one-sided I can accept https://www.wikihow.com/Handle-a-Fair-Weather-Friendship fairweather friends can be good and I feel best when I helping somebody else and then I feel better but in the end I tend to fail others and only upset and disappoint people because people have expectations and when you expected something and that doesn't happen, you know, so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Medication was not supposed to be long periods of time and its a roller coaster better than now wallow and get outside and fresh air which I don't do much anymore. I eat just fairly well comparative. I do agree that its a cycle and I've paid for my doctors to renovate their houses many times over. Well, actually just a saying as I don't have any credis and I could never afford to pay my medical bills. I also don't get quality (not quantity either) sleep. Worry and the mind won't even calm down because, I don't know, I, just am not sure.1 point

During the dark days don't write, here you go... try to sleep until it passes... are horrible...? - artificial, may do better in a short period of time, then still pills and pills... Do you lack essential vitamins and elements? This could be seen in the blood test. In order to live it is necessary to eat better, if you can, you (and all animals too) are made for good nutrition, not for the pills and still pills... What happens when you install the USB drivers for Windows? Booting Win98 from USB uses BIOS to provide the USB drive as drive C:. When you install USB drivers, it will cause problems. So, you could just never use USB. But if you have enough memory, - You could setup Win98se on the computer, drivers and all - Reduce it in size, unless you have a lot of memory - Create a harddrive img or vhd file large enough to hold your Windows install. - Use Virtualbox or something to make the harddrive image a system disk, using a Win98 floppy image. (Create one from your install, if you installed any update that modified MsDos 7 Boot files.) - Copy you Windows installation to the harddrive image. (Do not overwrite MsDos 7 boot files.) - Format your USB drive as FAT32. - Install Grub4Dos to the USB drive. - Then configure Grub4Dos to enable USB support and boot the Win98 harddrive image from memory. Every time you shutdown any changes will be lost. You can get around this by installing the HxD hex editor, and using it to copy the entire drive image to a new file. You do this "while" Windows is running. Then you swap the saved image with the new one you just created. You do this before shutdown or reboot. Some changes try to reboot Windows when they are finished. Like installing DirectX. Most of the time you are given a prompt, with an "OK" button. Run HxD and save the image before clicking the "OK" prompt. If you are given no prompt, you'll need to modify your harddrive boot image to start in Safe mode, on next boot. Then boot the harddrive image in VirtualBox or something. Finally, install whatever caused a reboot without prompting you first. As an additional tip, use or create portable applications. Also install those portable application to you USB drive, not the Windows harddrive image. That is, unless you have a huge amount of memory. You'll want to set a permanent drive letter for you USB drive, from the Drive's "Device Manager" properties. You'll probably want to move the default Windows and Dos temporary folders to a folder on the USB drive. Again, you'll want to assign a permanent drive letter to your USB drive You'll also have to decide if you want you Virtual memory enabled or not. It saves room on the harddrive image if you disable it. Drive C: will be running in "Dos Compatibility Mode". But it won't really matter. If you get a warning about your boot sector potentially being infected/corrupted, it is because you booted the image by it's partition and not as the drive. Nothing is wrong. Grub4Dos creates fake boot data to initiate the boot.1 point

Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the very long period of inactivity lately. I've had a lot going on outside of MSFN in my personal life that has kept me busy. I also walked away from an unhealthy relationship and have been taking steps to rebuild my life since then, which has kept me from being able to update the list for the past several months. In light of the recent announcement that MSFN is going offline, I will be moving my list over to a forum hosted by my friend Ryan: http://forum.eclectic4un.me/ This will take a while as I need to manually re-add all of the links and formatting, but I will post the link here when it is finished. Feel free to join our forum if you're looking for a new home once MSFN is no longer available! We're still grassroots at the moment, but we will be building a new legacy software community over there and we'd love to have you join us (@Ximonite& @win32 are already there and have pertinent posts related to Vista Extended Kernel & Win2000's KernelXE!). Thank you so much everyone here for your contributions to the list over the past 6 years. It has been my pleasure to help provide this information to Vista users for the past several years, and I like to believe our efforts have helped many Vista (and even XP) users over the years. I'm sad to see MSFN go, but all good things do come to an end. Best regards1 point
