29.5.0 doesn't come, and 29.4.2 came instead. pure-tracking repo is updated. https://github.com/roytam1/palemoon-source-tracking/compare/fc493cf6d5bcc710eb196d8ec801e0c8eea1cea3...97c43630eaee79a34ba78a8c318fcf59700d1eba and cherry-picking will be done later.3 points

Yes i saw this too but never posted about it here. It had to be done in my case to keep getting updates for net framework through WU. With 4.6.1 installed it wouldn't find updates anymore, i also noted that updates for net framework only stated 4.6.0 and 4.6.2 unlike before where it showed 4.6.1 aswell. Glad to see you mentioning it here eitherway.3 points

It shows the unsupported OS error like expected, even spoofing it doesn't seem to work so it probably hard checks for the version.2 points

The bank that I use decided they will implement mandatory 2FA authentication to access their web services - the second factor second being none other than a smartphone app. For now it's still possible to access it using certificate installed on the computer and the password, but smartphone app is going to replace the certificate soon. So now you have to own a smartphone - to enter PIN code in the app every time to be able to login to the website on the computer, something that was possible without a fuss until recently. Now what really p***ed me off, their app must have tripped on the busybox (apparently one of many checks for signs of rooted phone) that was pre-installed with my current custom ROM and also sometimes came in handy in the past. Having only encountered one such app until now (for authorizing online payments - and it wasn't mandatory, you could've opted for dedicated code generator device), that was happy as long as it didn't find su binary / SuperSU.apk, this one caught me by surprise. OK, so busybox can be removed entirely. Or installed systemlessly (so it doesn't reside on /system partition) with help of Magisk, which facilitates providing root access, hiding it from apps that don't want to see it and providing means to be able to do other modifications without modifying files on /system partition. This banking app seems to have flagged my phone on their servers during activation process, so now can't be activated at all. It must have taken its serial number, which can't be spoofed in practice I think. There's Xposed module that does it, but there's no way around Google's SafetyNet with activated Xposed Framework. What a load of crap! So one's supposed to just buy new phone for one stupid app...which could function on the old one...if it wanted to. Planned obsolescence in general is really strong there...let's buy a new smartphone every year or two. New one would just be bigger, clunkier and preloaded with tons of crap I don't want or need, that can't be removed without root access and since Google's fixing SafetyNet... End of rant!1 point

you should check if your extensions is/are broken since there is some javascript syntax changes are required. you may open javascript console to see them. this is an intended change since youtube updated their code, which makes NM27 very slow when rendering page.1 point

Hey folks! Sorry that I've been absent for nearly one year, I've been very busy for certain reasons. First - the mirror of latest BNavigator, Firefox 45ESR, MailNews 52, New Moon 26.5/27/28 and Serpent 52/55 builds is still alive and updated every week -> soggi.org - tools. Second - @roytam1 I still stuck with New Moon 27.9.7_20201121 for several reasons. Recently I had the time to check all since then released versions up to New Moon 27.10.0_20211106. I tested them with the most important (to me) websites and here is the result (only detected issues are listed, screenshots added below): search bar / plugins don't work (since 20201212) right-click "Open Link in New Tab" doesn't work (since 20201212) partially large / odd context menu (since 20201212) YouTube redirects to mobile version (https://m.youtube.com/, since 20210807) Twitter doesn't work (solved since 20211030) MediathekViewWeb JS doesn't work (since 20201128, solved since 20210213) Matomo JS crashes New Moon (since 20201226, solved since 20210306) kind regards soggi1 point

v5.95 has been already uploaded to MUC; please download the standalone x64 file, https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB890830 (WS2008 compatible variant:) https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=ba94649b-e7e7-46ec-8369-9f97804c6dab http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/uprl/2021/11/windows-kb890830-x64-v5.95_6ea7900c5dc32947ae0f05ffa0b168912fe42627.exe and attempt to run it locally; while I can understand that MU is detecting and downloading that update successfully (since the MU "hack" spoofs Vista as WS2008), if you're able to successfully launch/run the local file, I suspect latest Extended Kernel files/settings play a role in that (e.g. because of spoofing the OS as Win7 ). +11 point

Fairly recent Chromium and Firefox based browsers have a way of advertising to sites the skin (GUI) mode (light | dark) they're on; to accommodate, many sites today, like the ones you referenced, offer a light or dark CSS to match the advertised browser skin; by default, the dark site CSS is served if a dark browser skin is being detected; again, to avoid confusion, this is different to force-enabling "Dark Mode in Web Content" (in Chromium); the latter enforces a dark mode locally, post site load, no matter the flavour of the CSS the site serves... Some of the darkCSS-enabled websites provide a way of overriding the default auto behaviour, i.e. you can select light-mode site CSS even on dark browser skin, and this is usually done through site settings (where available); user selection is stored in cookie(s), which then have to be protected (via a cookie extension) to avoid repeating the process in every browser session (if you delete cookies on browser exit) ... E.g. in 360EEv12, with the dark skin installed and "chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark" set to (default | disabled), the site will load in its dark flavour, but you can still choose light mode via Settings: youtube.com is similar to google.com; github.com however, will allow to choose a light-mode site version only to signed-in members... FWIW, recent Serpent 52.9.0 (and, I believe, NM28, too) has an about:config setting, browser.display.prefers_color_scheme that does the same thing; default value of 1 will auto-load light google.com pages; there don't exist any official dark Complete Themes (skins) for St52 (several exist for NM28), but user-setting a value of 2 in St52 will auto-load dark google.com pages even on a light Complete Theme:1 point

H#LL No! I comment on topics I like, PERIOD. I'm not sure if your post here is "conceit" or "ego". Nor am I really sure what the difference is. I visit the Unread and the Active links, the answer to your question is H#LL NO!. I was already active in THIS thread, so I replied. I "see" the HUNDREDS of posts you have in OTHER threads, and H#LL NO!, I do not reply to everything you write. I'll never fully understand you, dear friend. Nor care to, for that matter. You remind me of a "talkative" neighbor that I 'have to' say "hello" to when crossing at the mailbox. Spend 20 minutes in a conversation I wish was over 18 minutes ago. "Neighbors", what can you do? Carry on, wayward son.1 point

@InterLinked has some Dark Mode thingy in his Iron 70 that adds the black background to quote boxes when he posts. The forum software accepts HTML formatting in these boxes, so you can post black, brown, red on pink... I might mention Stylem here so you can have these things in the GUI and a toggle to turn them on/off.1 point

OK, so it's a board issue rather than a browser issue. (Whew! When even web.archive.org stopped rendering correctly, I figured msfn.org might not be far behind....) Edit: Adding a code snippet to <profile folder>\chrome\UserContent.css like this: @-moz-document domain("msfn.org") { div.ipsQuote_contents { background-color: #CCC !important;} } ... makes those quotes readable again. Adjust the #CCC to the background RGB color of your choice, but keep it light (C through F) for best results.1 point

Looks like that WU hack is repeatedly giving you a few old updates, such as KB3060716 from 2015 (for both Vista and Server), also 4014793 (Vista) and 4036162 (Server) from 2017!?1 point

@Mathwiz : Seems this issue is unique to quotes generated by member @InterLinked ; e.g. https://msfn.org/board/topic/182647-my-browser-builds-part-3/page/62/?tab=comments#comment-1207515 Screenshot of post rendered by Serpent v52.9.0 (2021-10-08) 32-bit:1 point

I installed the October 2021 (KB5006732) update AND ...................... Flash Works!!!!1 point

It works. I guess I was hoping for someone to guarantee it first, since I'd rather not experiment with this system. But it appears we're good. EDIT: KB5007245 was issued today, and it appears to be the same situation, so I'll chance my luck and install it this evening.1 point

Is this a kindergarten now? It was your friend Dixel who introduced the term “fake news” into this thread. I agreed with him, and you had no objections, so it must be some other new member who you now think is “teacher’s pet.” I simply dislike implausible posts, but I will try harder to disregard yours in the future.1 point

that update appears to be included in the July 2021 KB5004302 & KB5005389 updates for server 2012 / embedded win8 as I checked the contents of the KB5004302 & KB5005389 updates myself, which seems to have the flash removal files. also included in the KB5005094 security-only update for Aug. 2021 as well. the flash removal files don't seem to be included in the KB5005607 & KB5006732 security-only updates so Jody could just try to install those and avoid installing KB5005094 and KB5004302/KB50053891 point

It does install successfully I have the latest ex. kernel installed on the machine and all the updates that are required However I don't have any apps installed that use it so you can suggest some Check the bottom of this page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-net-framework-4-6-2-offline-installer-for-windows-9dce3874-a9e5-9b11-289d-5594824aafe0 I thought the last version for server 2008 sp2 was 4.6.11 point

I was intrigued by your report , so I connected an external HDD in which I had archived a copy of NDP462-KB3151800-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe originally downloaded Sep 14th 2016; that off-line installer was dual-signed (SHA1+SHA2) on July 15th 2016; running that installer now, after file extraction, generates the familiar error below: I closed that installation attempt and then went to https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/thank-you/net462-offline-installer Direct link is https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2099468 The latter fetched file ndp462-kb3151800-x86-x64-allos-enu.exe (in small letters this time ) which is only SHA-2 signed on May 1st 2021; my Vista SP2 32-bit system has SHA-2 support installed, so when I ran that second off-line installer, and after file extraction (takes a few seconds, because it scans ALL your drives to choose the one with maximum FREE disk space), I was, surprisingly, presented with: Now, I didn't click Install to go on with the 4.6.2 installation, because I wasn't yet ready to part with my existing, perfectly working, 4.6.1 setup... Perhaps the 4.6.2 installation would have aborted at a later stage, or perhaps NOT... The thing is the updated .NF462 setup doesn't immediately barf when it detects NT6.0; another kind soul with Vista SP2 in a VM could try that new installer to explore whether it "requires special procedures" to complete the installation... FWIW, since this revised setup targets WS2008SP2, I expect it would require a special minimum set of WS2008SP2 updates to be present in your Vista SP2 image...1 point
-
I was almost certain that .NET 4.6.0 was the last to officially support Server 2008 SP2, but I just looked it up and and a Microsoft document now shows 4.6.2 as supported!? (But it neglects to mention 4.6.1 in connection with 2008 SP2, so quite possibly an error. This is near the bottom of https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/get-started/system-requirements .) Special procedures are were required to install 4.6.2 or above on Vista. Edit: Subsequent posts reveal that installing 4.6.2 is no longer a problem, assuming that SHA-2 support has been installed. Btw updates for 4.6.1 and earlier are supposed to end on April 26.1 point

Edit: I have the impression most users won't encounter this so chance of a fix from a forum-side software is low. Isn't this Chromium 78+ only? He's on Iron 70, which is Chromium 70. On the other hand, not much effort required to add the code manually, regardless of the browser. So should the forum software clean it up? HAX2MAX1 point

In other forum reply boxes, it's as easy as clicking the </> button in the toolbar above then entering CSS to be applied, but I tried that then "previewed" my post and it doesn't seem to work here. There's a special "format" I'm sure, I actually edited by Stylus sheet for MSFN to undo @InterLinked's replies to look "normal". I'm not a fan. But yeah, it is "cool" the first time you see it, but I prefer a more "normalized" experience when reading the forum. Long Live Stylus1 point

(for PM27/KM76/FF45) A: Download following packages for your browser edition(32bit/64bit) and extract DLLs to same place as palemoon.exe lives. 32bit LAV dlls are in separated package (extracted from K-Lite codec pack 13.5.5) https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav.7z Just in case if you have an older processor which has no SSE instruction set support: 32bit NoSSE (ffmpeg 3.1.1 lite build) https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav-dll-lite-mmx.7z 32bit No ASM (ffmpeg 3.1.1 lite build, if build above doesn't work on your processor) https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav-dll-lite-noasm.7z 64bit LAV dlls are in separated package (LAV Filters 64bit 0.70.2) https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav64.7z Q: AV1 Support? (for UXP-based applications except mailnews) A: You need to enable "media.av1.enabled" in about:config Q: VP9 Support? (for PM27) A: VP9 works if async MSE option is unchecked and "Enable MSE for WebM Video" checked in options. Q: Extensions/Themes not working after updating binaries. A: If you encounter extensions not show icon, clicking options button of extension causing browser unresponsive, etc. please try following actions: 1.a Killing palemoon.exe process 1.b Copy whole extensions folder out of profile folder (to somewhere else for example, desktop) 1.c Restart browser without restoring previous sessions 1.d Goto about:addons page 1.e Drop XPI files from the copied-out extensions folder to about:addonss page One-by-One. 1.f After all XPI files are dropped and installed/updated, restart browser Q: Virus detected? A: Tell your anti-virus program to exclude palemoon.exe and/or plugin-container.exe. Some anti-virus heuristic engines (for example symantec's sonar engine) is too sensitive to palemoon.exe/plugin-container.exe network activities. Q: Where's your patches for compiling my own? A: Please visit the link above "FAQ:". Latest source patch files are named "sources_patches_YYYYMMDD.7z" in that page. Q: basilisk browser showing basic pages in GMail? A: set these to "true" in about:config general.useragent.compatMode.firefox general.useragent.compatMode.gecko Q: Should I let official Pale Moon and "New Moon" both using same profile (at the same time / alternatively)? A: it is not recommend to do that, as they have different NSS security library, which has different encryption procedure to the saved password database. Same profile being "touched" by different gecko/goanna applications may cause unexpected behaviors. If you want to launch both Pale Moon and "New Moon" / Basilisk and "Serpent" / etc. at the same time, one of them should be in "--no-remote" portable mode. Q: How to change User Interface language? A: Please see this post: Q: Portable Loader? A: You can always use official portable launcher with my binaries, or you can use my simple portable loader written in NSIS: Q: How to install extensions/themes in BNavigator browser? A: Please check this post out: (EDIT: you may need to change minVersion to 0.9.0a1 as upstream changed version to a lower value after this guide existed) Q: I want to verify if archive is not changed by others! A: from 30 October 2019, new archives will have ".asc" GPG detached signature. You can download signature separately by appending ".asc" (without quotation marks) after the archive URL. You can get my public key by following instructions in this post: Q: I'm getting 0xC000001D error when starting Serpent/UXP-ia32 browser! A: your processor does not support CMOV instruction. VC2015 IA32 build requires CMOV instruction support. here is a list of processors with CMOV instruction support: - Intel: Pentium Pro or later - AMD: K7 (original Athlon/Duron) or later - VIA: C7 or later - Transmeta: all CPUs are capable to run sp52-ia32. - Cyrix/IBM: 6x86MX or later, MediaGXm(MediaGX-S) or later - National Semiconductor/AMD: Geode GX or later - DM&P/Vortex86: Vortex86DX3 or later Q: I need WebAssembly support! A: for NM28/SP52, go to about:config and enable javascript.options.wasm Q: Why you still keeping on version 28? will you have a version 29 build? A: please have a look on this post:1 point

Hm, 2FA auth only applies when logging in on the website, but if you decide to use the app exclusively, you're still back at one factor. I wanted to make use of the ability to scan the QR code on the bill for quick payment. While it went through, the app hung when returning to its main screen and couldn't do anything but force-close it. Now here's the fun part, its data got corrupted in the process. When trying to login, it gave useless "No services found on this device" message. Restoring all of its data got it back into a working state (at least until it bugs again if you try to do the above). But here's another catch, it uses Android Keystore, so restoring its data folder is not enough, there are also files in /data/misc/keystore. The relevant file names for each app that uses it start with "uid" or ".uid", where uid is the numeric user ID of each app. MiXplorer makes it easy to look them up when you open the dialog to change any file's owner or group. I had the entire data partition backed up, so restoring everything wasn't a problem. When I initiated the login procedure on the website now, the push notification didn't arrive on the phone, I had to login on the phone and only then the screen for confirming login on the website shows. I tested with another app if push notifications still worked in general. Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to send such notifications. So something was sent out, but since it crapped out, it wasn't in sync anymore, so I guess the notification never reached my device. I wanted to see if I could re-activate the app, so did the same dance as the last time, it went through and notifications from the app started working again. Guess I'll use the app just to access the bank's website. I noticed at later point that MagiskHide wasn't actually working after I got the banking app activated and put Magisk back. The app might not care about SafetyNet status anymore once activated. There's this common problem with MagiskHide that you have to re-enable it after the device boots before it actually starts working and while there's the boot script that could help (in this guide), it's still not reliable. I had that script from before and thought I found the right timing as it worked a while back, but apparently not. So the only reliable way is to do it manually after boot. One usually doesn't reboot the phone often, so it's not that much of a hassle. Think I've had enough of such adventures for a while, so I'll leave things as they are. BTW, BlueStacks doesn't pass SafetyNet checks, so it's not suitable for such apps.1 point
