  1. Official Pale Moon requires at minimum Win7, so support requests for it should be better directed/placed in the respective OS forums... Be that as it may, if users of PM wish to install "legacy" Firefox-only targeting extensions, against the wishes of PM's makers, the method to go by is probably the one below: 1. First enable the setting pointed out by @nicolaasjan, i.e. PM won't block any blacklisted add-ons (the same setting can be achieved via about:config, by disabling the blocklist completely, extensions.blocklist.enabled => false or, alternatively, render it ineffective by setting extensions.blocklist.level => 3 2. Install in PM the latest version of JustOff's Moon Tester Tool: https://github.com/JustOff/moon-tester-tool/releases/tag/2.1.3 3. Have the "legacy" Fx-only targeting add-on available in the form of an .XPI file, saved on disk; the latter can be obtained from CAA, other online repositories or, possibly, copied from the profile of another application where that add-on was already installed (limited to extensions that were not unpacked during installation) ... 4. Use the .XPI file(s) to install in PM with the aid of MTT (Moon Tester Tool); the extension(s) will appear inside PM's add-on manager (AOM) with a [TEST] prefix; those extensions won't be auto-updated, but this isn't an issue for unmaintained legacy Fx extensions, completely forsaken by their original authors... However, I don't see the reason myself why you should choose official PM if on Win7+ over either Mypal/New Moon; these two browsers do not impose any restrictions upon legacy Fx add-ons and, to the best of my knowledge, will launch and run without issues on OSes other that XP...

  4. Oh trust me, I am aware! I have friends, familiy, coworkers, and neighbors that biaatch and moan ALL THE TIME about gas prices - and I find it entirely irksome considering I get 6 weeks, and then some, to ONE tank of gas. They'll watch gas prices "like a Hawk" and will leave work an hour early just to make sure they fill up before "gas prices are about to jump". They install "phone apps" to tell them when prices are about to jump and which local gas station will be the last to raise prices. They'll drive an extra 4 miles OUT OF THEIR WAY (8 miles round trip) in a beat up ol' ride getting 18 mpg city "with the wind at their back" to save $0.08 per gallon when gas prices are only $3.00 per gallon and their tank is 16 gallon capacity. ie, if they were running on FUMES and had to buy AN ENTIRE TANK of 16 gallons, they spent $1.33 to drive OUT OF THEIR WAY to save $1.28 -- they spent an extra $0.05 but in their mind they "saved" !!! And you know d@mn well they did this NOT for an ENTIRE TANK so they were "upside down" by much MUCH more than $0.05. But it doesn't matter how many times you "do the math" for them, they continue this INSANITY and continue to FALSELY think that they "saved".

  5. For testing pure single-connection network speed, use a plain HTTP or FTP transfer, so that the performance isn't bottlenecked by SSL, scaling of graphics or Javascript. For example, http://speedtest.tele2.net/ Upload can be tested on its FTP (not all of the are up). Browsers usually spam many connections, and wouldn't be as affected. The default TCP settings are definitely artificially limited. Adjust according to the speed & memory of the computer. Probably no need to go as high as the optimizer would suggest, as it assumes all servers of interest are somewhere in Australia. 128K to 512K windows, no more.

  6. Kill Em All to black album (the one you linked) and Garage Inc I like, anything starting with Load (I can't stand to hear that one) is not for me.

  9. My favourite band is Scorpions . I see German bands are quite popular , I'm no exception. Scorpions are a German (Western Germany) rock band formed in 1965 in Hanover by Rudolf Schenker. https://www.the-scorpions.com My favourite Scorpions' albums are : almost all up to 1990 . In 1993 , with the release of their new studio album (recorded in New York) , the sound became distorted . Read here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war I guess the sound studio manager is/was deaf. They didn't need to change their recording studio. Before that the sound is/was amazing , the best albums in the 80's recorded in the Swiss Alps. I do own all of my fav. albums on original CDs , "made in Holland" in the 80's/early 90's.

  11. ...or a 4.6.2 installation. (See WinClient5270’s May 16, 2019 post, which also established that 4.6.2 is less likely than 4.8 to cause missing dependency errors on Vista.)

Do you have this part in "install.rdf" in the xpi files: <em:targetApplication> <Description> <em:id>{8de7fcbb-c55c-4fbe-bfc5-fc555c87dbc4}</em:id> <em:minVersion>27.0.0</em:minVersion> <em:maxVersion>29.*</em:maxVersion> </Description> </em:targetApplication> Note the "<em:maxVersion>29.*</em:maxVersion>" line.

  14. I had nothing but bad luck with Maxtor hard disk. Same applies to later quantum disks. I had one with only half capacity left due bad blocks and consider I actually used it few more years despite it. Definitely no data integrity on that pc I had similar on my Pentium 4. Pointed finger all expect av before ditched av for good need try that at somepoint. Always left nic as default (expect with powersave and sleep disabled) and blocked scripts on browser. Maybe that will also increase downloading speeds too that feels slow compared my internet and hardware. On slower machines had faster dl under linux. Never knew about that nic thing

  15. I couldn't help noticing that the app (EasyBCD) can use .NET FW 2.0 or 3.5; 2.0 is native to Vista, 3.5 is offered as an update to native 3.0; so, good chances are, the app would have launched for @Nandor IF no .NET FW4 was installed; it looks like the (crooked) installation of 4.8 prevented EasyBCD from falling back on either 3.5/2.0; notice also how stricter are .NET FW4 requirements, the range of 4 versions is limited to 4.0-4.6 ... While having no .NET FW4 installed would have (probably) allowed EasyBCD to work, HandBrake 1.0.7 (EoS for Vista) does need it... You are certainly welcome ; so, despite my initial claim, I did manage to help you... BTW, are you really running a copy of WS2008 32-bit (it says so underneath your avatar...) ? Is this machine connected to the web and does it have a working Microsoft/Windows Update currently (several specific KBs are needed to enable access to the SHA-2 WU endpoints currently in place, I hope you're aware...) ? After you installed .NET Framework 4.6 (the last officially supported by Microsoft Update), were you offered any updates for it? It should be possible to fetch all available 4.6 Security & Quality Rollups at least until Jan 2020, when WS2008's Extended Support came to an end... I'm asking this as a possible continuation to a related query of mine in another thread... Thanks in advance for any additional feedback...

  16. I really don't know about partition alignment, I'm sure others will give a more expert opinion on that, but as far as TRIM is concerned I would have thought a drive is either trimmed or it isn't, I don't think there's any degrees of TRIM, unlike defragmentation.

  17. Intel Celeron 2,00 GHz (eventually overclocked to 2,5 GHz), 256 MB RAM, eventually upgraded to 1 GB, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440, HDD - unknown Maxtor 60 GB, which eventually had to be replaced, got a 80 GB model then, this one died at one point as well, don't remember the year, but the entire timespan of that computer's service was 2001-2009. Thinking about it now, I don't think it was actually that slow, it might have been just my crazy expectations, probably that disk just couldn't fetch data fast enough for everything to open instantly plus there was this quirk, taskbar always remained frozen for at least a minute after startup. And we ran a freaking anti-virus then, first Norton AntiVirus 2002, then switched to ESET NOD32. The stupid old me surely didn't think of that, I was disabling services, even COM ports in Device Manager, but not an antivirus. Though NOD32 was supposedly non-intrusive. Anyway, the only speed related optimization that I'd do on XP is running TCP Optimizer. Windows XP and below are tuned for slower internet connections and there's no automagic function adjusting parameters dynamically. Find some website with higher resolution images and watch how fast they are appearing before and after.

  18. Okay, that makes sense. That puts you right around $7.51 US Dollars per US Gallon. I'm showing average annual salary in Finland at 56,300 EUR per year which is $68,650 US Dollars per year. For the Midwest area of the US that I am located, the average annual salary is $68,876 US Dollars per year - so you could say we are basically EQUAL. The average gas price here is $2.93 US Dollars per US Gallon. That tells me TWO things - 1) I'll agree that you are paying too much, and 2) My gas prices SHOULD BE DOUBLED

  19. Hello from Romania! Was lurking MSFN Forums for a few years already, and have already learnt about stuff like the Ultimate Win98 CD (which was incredibly helpful for a handful number of i440LX and VIA693/694 builds) as well as the widely known KernelEX. Love to tinker with retro machines, and as such, have managed to build a broad range of machines. Socket 7, Slot 1, Slot A, Socket 462, Socket 370, you name it. Didn't get a 486 working yet (though I have at least three of them - a DX50, a DX2-66 and some Cyrix that the model escapes my mind now) because of those pesky and nasty barrel batteries, but I do have some rather "exotic" (if you can call them as such) Slot 1 and Slot A builds - one is a Soyo 6BA+IV based Glide machine (with a Voodoo3 no less) and the other is a EpoX EP-7KXA machine sporting a Thunderbird 750MHz (with a nice golden Geforce 4 MX440SE). Am looking forward learning more from your forums, and possibly share some of my findings in matters of retro hardware as well.

  20. Wow.. so many nice mentions here - I enjoy so many genres and styles and singers - everything practically. I quote enjoy listening to oldies and have posted in our music thread to reflect; as well as some to today's music. As far as today's music, I struggle to find a band I can relate to, but I do appreciate imagine dragons and I have so much respect for Dan Reynolds ... his talent and hard work to support equal human rights.

  21. 1960s/70s: Zappa & Mothers of Invention, Chet Baker, Beatles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin ... 70s/80s: Div. Glamrock, AC/DC, Ten Years After, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Undisputed Truth, E.L.P, Pink Floyd, D. Bowie, Eddie Harris, Level 42 ... Today? I don't know? Are there any ''earthy, groovy, funky'' Rockbands today? O.K. ''Leonid & Friends'' sounds fine, but it's some of a 60s/70s ''Cover-Band'' ...
