  2. I was able to get the sound card working using drivers from HP z220. But, there is a problem with PC speaker sound. It works in general. Memtest is able to generate sounds, all right. But in Windows XP x32, Windows 7 x3 and Windows 7 x64, PC speaker does not work. A bit of information, first. HP z class workstations are equipped with a speaker. It is able to generate PC speaker sounds, and in the same time it is the sound card speaker. In case of z220, I had the same problem. Fortunately I found Realtek drivers able to make PC speaker work correctly. According to my investigation, the PC speaker works by connecting rogrammable Interval Timer (PIT) output to a speaker. The problem with HP z workstations is, the same speaker is used for both PC sounds and sound card output. Apparently the sound mixing is done by the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. So it depends on driver, how the output mixing is done. While I was able to get driver with correct mixing profile for z220 in Windows XP, the same driver package was unable to do the same for both Windows 7 32 and 64 bit. So I failed to get audible sounds from Beep XP driver in Windows 7 on z220. On the other hand, drivers available for HP z210 are mixing PC speaker with all three systems XPx32 7x32 and 7x64. All three HP workstations (z 210, z220, z230) are equipped with sound cards from the same series of Realtek High Definition Audio. The difference is, the support for Windows XP was removed along the way. Another observation shows the tendency to remove PC speaker mixing function from newer versions of Windows 7 drivers. Is it possible to tweak the available driver packages to make the PC speaker available? It seems, the HP z workstation build is somewhat special. There must be something in the HP released drivers for z workstations, what makes the PC speaker sound mixing working. I was able to to get XP drivers for z230 for i7-4770 HD 4600 graphics, and Intel Ethernet I217-LM network. The only missing is a "perfectly" working sound driver.

  4. Huh? They are like this for quite some time now: 🤔 https://github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp/releases/latest/download/yt-dlp_x86_winXP.exe https://github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp/releases/latest/download/yt-dlp_x86_winXP.zip
  5. Correct. "Exact Audio Copy is a so called audio grabber for audio CDs using standard CD and DVD-ROM drives." It only supports Redbook CD audio, but the drive can be any that reads audio CDs.

  7. I swapped out the drive for a GSA-H10A (2006 vintage) and bingo, I can see DVD's. In the drive properties I have a region-code selector, I don't think I saw that with the DRU-510A. I could play the DVD with Videolan, didn't have to install any drivers, didn't have to set a region code. EAC doesn't seem to like DVD's. This is a concert DVD, it has 5-channel audio, I take it that EAC can't rip the audio stream from a DVD?
  8. @VistaLover I will reply here instead of going offtopic on GitHub in this thread. You asked: I used adang1345's CPython 3.14.2 and these dll's. But the dll's from your other link also failed. I also have the 2015-2022 redistributable. The issue is in the name of these files. E.g. libssl-3-x64.dll instead of libssl-3.dll, as CPython x64 expects. And, as you have seen, there are no issues at all building the 32bit counterpart using adang's Python with the dll's from your sources. I have absolutely no idea how to build a Windows 7 compatible Python 64bit and link it against OpenSSL-3.6.0. 😕 Maybe I should ask adang to include a more recent OpenSSL. Preferably the 3.5.4 LTS release. I did manage to build them on Linux though (with a lot of help from AI 😐). And then force yt-dlp to use it via an alias: alias yt-dlp='python3.14 /usr/local/bin/yt-dlp' (in the file `.bash_aliases`). Result: [debug] Python 3.14.2 (CPython x86_64 64bit) - Linux-5.15.0-164-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.35 (OpenSSL 3.6.0 1 Oct 2025, glibc 2.35) (my system itself has the old Python 3.10.12 and OpenSSL 3.0.2) The challenge was, to install the updated ones in a way that they would not interfere with the system installed ones. It would cause major breakage.
  9. @JFX New Italian language WinNTSetup - 5.4.2 - Italian language.zip
  10. I have not had any Zone Alarm problems for two days now. I found some information online about creating a 'path'. I found a ZA folder in the System 32 folder ... had no idea it was there. When a problem popped up about a missing ZA dll I would put it in the System 32 folder and the ZA Programs folder but I did not know there was also a ZA folder in System 32. There were three dlls that I added and now also to the System 32 / ZA folder ... so far it seems to be working. I had no prior knowledge of paths or creating a path. There was a gamer online having a problem and he was advised to create a 'path' for a solution, so I took that advice and added the dlls to the Sys 32 - ZA folder, the System 32 folder itself and also the Programs ZA folder ... have them everywhere to be found. From a gamer post online: Add a Directory to the PATH on Windows: Go to Control Panel and open the System icon (Start - Control Panel) Go to the Advanced tab Click on the 'Environment Variables' button Look into the 'System Variables' pane Add or find the 'Path' entry Double click or add the Path entry Enter your ZoneAlarm directory at the end, including ';' before (;C:\) Press OK Note: Be sure to reboot after following the steps above to ensure that the PATH changes are applied. ... I just replaced his game title with the ZoneAlarm directory. I may still have some problems but so far all seems OK. ...
  11. OK, I did try that firewall in August or September when the Zone Alarm problems started. I had it saved from your article 'Antimalware, firewall, and other security programs for Windows XP' based on your review. I also had some other older firewall programs saved, Comodo and such. I had trouble trying to figure out Sphinx Windows 10 Firewall to get it working correctly. Probably didn't work with it enough. If I can't get the ZA working again I will install it again and check it out more. Thanks to Multibooter I want to try Kerio Personal Firewall v2.1.5 again. I had completely forgotten about Kerio FW and did not have it on my flash drive collection of firewall programs. I sort of remember it was easy to work with. ...
  12. By the way, build 28000 was not as bad as I had feared, I created an install.wim from UUP, then removed Winre.wim, the size was not too bad (less than 4gb). And while we're talking about this particular build, here's the reg I applied to stop the TaskManager bug: (I'm not really interested in newer builds for now, I used build 28000 because I could use some files from install.wim in my ADK PE 28000) (PS: Also nice to see the "Remove Defender" stuff still seems to work - If anybody knows of recent registry settings needed to "clean" the latest builds, please share!!!) 13. Great to see an update, thanks for your continued support for WinNTSetup. Last week, I did some tests on the 28000 ADK and installed W11Pro 28000 too, just to see how bad they screwed it up this time. You're our only hope for removing all the junk (from the Setup, for one thing) and letting us use the basic NT core, which I guess is still OK for now. Best wishes for the New Year!
  14. Archives are third party sites, we have no control over them. GDPR only applies to EU citizens where GDPR is enacted in their home country. It doesn't apply to citizens of US or non-GDPR countries. The request has to be written in a certain way, according to the law, which I've read (as well as that dumb EU Copyright Directive). It has been done now so there is no reason to keep this thread open.
  15. This drive does have the DVD symbol or logo. Hard to believe it's over 20 years old. I've tried other retail DVD's (not blue ray) on this drive. As soon as disc is inserted the drive becomes active, windows is putzing with it for about a minute, then it becomes quiet. In file explorer I click on the dvd drive but all I ever get is a message box saying to insert a disc into the drive. Does XP need additional drivers just to recognize an actual DVD disc, to see the file system of a DVD?
  16. hmm, confirmed v30i and v31 also works. and it seems to be broken in v31a and later. since there is no release note and/or changelog for v31a, nothing is known besides ntdll and kernel32 are newer in v31a.
  17. WinNTSetup 5.4.2 - fixed could not start minimized - fixed some wimcapture issues - fixed possible buffer overflow in some minwin functions - fixed crash on malformed Win10Builds.ini - updated ux and drvinst patcher for Win11 build > 28000
  18. @nicolaasjan changed the download link to his Windows XP release of yt-dlp. Moreover, it is no longer provided as a ZIP file but an executable one. Therefore, the yt-dlp update module inside my ytBATCH versions doesn't work anymore. I have already fixed that and am in testing phase. Additionally, I made further changes and implemented new features. When all is finished, I will release ytBATCH for Windows XP 1.7. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  19. Many programmes come with their own OpenSSL modules to establish secure connections. If such a programme is no longer updated, it is only a matter of time before secure connections can no longer be established. Local updating of the OpenSSL files by the user, if possible at all, can then help. A global installation of a current OpenSSL version will not help at all in such cases, as it is simply not used.
  20. Yes, just the “Mypal has caused an error in XUL.dll” dialog, then crashes. There isn't any unhandled exception.
  21. Aside from the heavy looping in ucrtbase and msvcp140, all looks good--v4 is doing its job. Did these runs exit silently?
  22. MP68APILOG.zip And yes I already cleared Kstub.log before doing this.
  23. Yes. The disc seems not to be compatible. Try it in a Blu-ray or DVD player to test the disc. ("Disc" is optical; "Disk" is magnetic)
  24. I believe V4 is working and the Access Violation at 0xFFFFFFEA is just the next issue. Clear the Kstub log and run without DW. It won't launch, but we should see RaiseException (and hopefully more) in the new Kstub log and in the ApiLog window. Try with and without Kex debug mode. Meanwhile, I'm updating FineSSE to handle Continuable Exceptions and display a stack dump.
  25. I've been using EAC on XP with a Sony DVD RW DRU-510A drive to rip a bunch of audio CD's. One of these was cd with companion DVD. I put the DVD into the drive, but file explorer doesn't see anything there. It just keeps asking to put a disk in the drive when I point it to the drive. I thought there are a bunch of VOB or VOD files that are visible on a commercial DVD disk. Should I be able to see some files here?

  27. Without a correctly installed and running HTTPSProxy, you will get this message each time under Windows XP when trying to activate Panda. Whether the proxy is working correctly or not, you can see in its console window. If you are not familiar with these proxies, then you should read my article ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use.
  28. in my next attempt to activate Panda under WinXP I have used a genuine gmail email address. After entering the email address in window "Activate Panda Dome", Panda Dome again displayed "Error checking the account. We're sorry but we were unable to access your Panda account. Make sure you have an Internet connection and try again."
  29. For example, I updated the OpenSSL Shared Library inside the programme folder of MusicBrainz Picard to get their last XP-compatible version 1.4.2 working again.
