  3. I think I am past point of missing old internet. Just trying cling to past and not saying I am missing old internet wont going to help. There were also evil things there like "Only viewable on internet exploder 4 or worse" I admit I used to also fall into that. What is typical problem there is that you keep doing things you totally disagree with and keep saying it. Then one day it hit me. What if instead of trying clinging to past memories I bring past to current. Nobody says you must use Spotispy, or any other things. What if instead of just using what everyone else is using to communicate (whatsapp) or do other stuff you use what you want to use and can be used on systems you have. If you really hate smartphones you don't have to have one, you can get still basic handsets even if live in country where GSM is killed, they are cheap ones usually sold for elderly people. If you hate modern Windows don't use it. Use something like linux mint to do "modern" stuff like filling out tax card, doing banking etc then outside that use whatever system and OS you feel good at. There are many projects that makes them usable. For example Windows 98 can totally be used for tasks with help of Pidgin, Retrozilla 2.3, proper codecs, putty win32 legacy etc. And if you think all your friends will stop talking to you if change way then ask are they really your friends if they will end friendship at that point. Sure there are some limits for what can be considered tolerable. If you would say now I will only communicate with smoke signals then it would be understandable that they are upset. You might think I just lack any friends and I got handful of them only but they are good friends I talk almost daily or hang with whenever just can. Most "friends" I had were just burden to me. If work requires them then you use during working hours as you should always keep work and personal life separate. I use whatever phone and computer employer tells me to during hours my wage is running and when hours are filled I leave them at the office or if home switch off power until next shift. I do not do any of personal work on company laptop or phone since security and not wanting mix up my personal and work life. If you are being your own employer you should still separate work and personal devices for security reasons as having one of them compromised compromises both. As for the web, you don't have to make site that forces SSL, bot protection, requires complex CSS and scripting etc. You can make one very basic. Just don't fall into wannabe 90s geocities site trend. You do not want but million animated gifs and annoying embedded midis into your site or write it with Microsoft RuntPage. I hated those site back then and hate whenever I see one of them today. You should prefer minimalism and avoid going over HTML4 strict. Something like Mozilla composer with css disabled is good starting point if you suck at coding or just want streamline doing site and then just do small fixes by hand with text editor. World is not going to change is nobody does nothing and just sit on their a** and complain. It starts change by making difference yourself.

  5. I thought this article about the internet past and present was a good read. A warning ahead on 'language' ... maybe not for the 'faint of heart'. Most people might use the word 'crap' in their article. It goes up a notch in this article but it gets to the point. I myself miss the old internet from when a person didn't have to prove they were a human, had to solve a puzzle by moving pieces around, check all the squares with butterflies or whatever. Way past its prime: how did Amazon get so rubbish? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/oct/05/way-past-its-prime-how-did-amazon-get-so-rubbish Cory Doctorow Sun 5 Oct 2025 ...
  6. That’s awesome, thanks for sharing! Didn’t think Spotify would still work on XP — that’s pretty cool. I’ll give it a try. By the way, if you’re into exploring more Android apps and APKs, you can check APKZolo com — lots of updated stuff there.
  7. OK. I just installed 3.9.16 and I no longer experience crashing with the Classic context menus switched off. But Explorer takes forever to load with the Classic context menu switched off.
  8. StartAllBack 3.9.16
  9. Updated yt-dlp_Py3.13.7_x86_Vista. (with IOS patch )
  10. This link still works. The 72MB zip file is a compilation of many drivers.
  11. Google recaptcha https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api2/demo failed on current New Moon (palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20250927-d849524bd-uxp-50b6047c84-xpmod) and working on current Basilisk 52 (basilisk52-g4.8.win32-git-20250927-3219d2d-uxp-50b6047c84-xpmod)

  13. I read that the language pack no longer works. https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/page/2/#comment-1220632 Is there any working dictionary for mypal browser? Trying to manually paste dictionary language files into the "dictonaries" folder *.txt +.*.aff extracted from FF 52.9.0esr does not contribute anything, because they are incompatible with mypal. The same txt and aff dictionary files work without any problem with basilisk and palemoon. Is it possible to run a spell checker in a language other than the default English? Or does any tool know how to make dictionary files from FF52.9.0 browser compatible with mypal?
  14. I use SeaMonkey 1.1.9 in Win95. Some plugins XPI install but some show the error: Signing could not be verified How to turn off the signature checking?
  15. I think there is a misunderstanding. My intention was not to use different audio output for different E-Mail account. What I need is different audio output for just the E-Mail notifier. And my solution was to use system Beep on motherboard buit in speaker, the same way it worked on Windows XP.
  16. Hello, author. I can't help coming to you again because I'm still using the latest version of Windows (preview version), but I can't do without StartAllBack. I hope the experts can fix some minor features, such as Windows +R and so on. Also, right-clicking on the Task Manager doesn't respond (actually, all right-click menus don't respond). I'm currently using: Windows Server 2025 Datacenter 26491.1000. I still hope the author can fix it. Thank you very much

  18. I’ve tried sending the audio to two different outputs using VBScript before, but splitting the sounds cleanly was tricky. Curious how you handled device selection based on account.
  19. Do the firefox 143 run on W8.1? (Hope 153 ESR in 2026 wil run)
  20. Try test version https://startisback.com/StartAllBack_setup.exe
  21. I'm not sure if that's it. It mentions an ACPI timer, but this thread is about HPET, which doesn't depend on the processor frequency and is measured in milliseconds rather than megahertz.
  22. I am about to combine software downloads, spread out over several smaller HDDs, onto a single 4TB GPT HDD. The 4TB GPT HDD will be read and written to mainly under Window XP SP3 (with Paragon GPT Loader) and under Windows Server 2003 32bit SP2, with occasional read/write access by Windows 10. The 4TB GPT HDD will be used only for data storage, and I will create both a master 4TB GPT HDD and a backup 4TB GPT HDD. Should I create aligned or not-aligned (=CHS-aligned) partitions on the 4TB GPT hard disk drives? The two 4TB GPT HDDs are Toshiba HDWD240, the label on them has an "AF" symbol and Hard Disk Sentinel displays under WinXP "Bytes Per Sector: 4096 [Advanced Format]". Victoria v5.23 displays under WinXP: "Sector: Logic 512 bytes, Phys 4096". PartitionGuru v4.7.0 under WinXP displays "Sector Size: 512 Bytes, Physical sector Size: 512 Bytes". A major criteria is backward compatibility. Which Windows XP software doesNOT work with aligned partitions? Which Windows 10 software doesNOT work with not-aligned partitions? Which hardware or driver doesNOT work with aligned/not-aligned partitions? Does Windows XP/2003 have serious bugs when using aligned partitions? Does Windows 10 have serious bugs when using not-aligned partitions? Does boot-time/startup CHKDSK of WinXP/2003/Win10 have issues with aligned/not-aligned partitions on a 4TB GPT HDD? Is the question about partition alignment on a 4TB GPT HDD irrelevant? Do both aligned and not-aligned partitions work OK on a 4TB GPT HDD under WinXP/2003/Win10? Is there a worth-while increase in computer efficiency/speed, with a 5400rpm 4TB data storage HDD, when you use aligned partitions under Windows XP/2003? If the 4TB GPT HDD should ever go bad, is it easier to recover data from aligned or not-aligned partitions? When the onboard SATA controller (e.g. the Intel ICH5 onboard the Asus P5PE-VM motherboard of 2006) incorrectly detects under WinXP a disk geometry of 855388/121/34 (instead of 219051/255/63) for the 4TB GPT HDD connected to onboard SATA, will aligned or not-aligned partitions work OK? In Paragon Hard Disk Manager 11, 12, 14 and 15 you have the choice of creating aligned or not-aligned partitions under WinXP, with the selection -> Tools -> Settings -> General options, section Partition Alignment Mode. You can also create a mix of aligned and not-aligned partitions on a GPT HDD with Paragon HDM under WinXP/2003 by switching between "Legacy" and "Vista" Alignment mode in Settings -> exit PHDM -> restart PHDM -> create partition. There are several alternatives: 1) create not-aligned partitions on both the Master and Backup 4TB GPT HDD 2) create aligned partitions on both 4TB HDDs 3) create aligned partitions on one 4TB GPT HDD, and not-aligned partitions on the other 4TB GPT HDD 4) create a mix of aligned/not-aligned partitions depending on e.g. the file system (FAT32/NTFS) Answers to the various sub-questions above may help find an answer to the main question here: Should I create aligned or not-aligned partitions on the two 4TB GPT hard disk drives?
  23. Is this the same issue that the XP HAL timer patch addresses?
  24. No, you cannot set a different value. As far as I know, these values are hard-coded into the OS kernel, and you cannot set a value lower than 1 ms.
  25. Could be posible lower the timer with this tool? some command line to enter the desired timer? I wanted to test below 1ms
  26. @farfigs11 @FantasyAcquiesce @jumper Sorry to disturb you guys, but do you still have any of these softwares: D00748-001-002.exe, or Widcomm 5.1.0.2700 or Widcomm 5.1.0.2100? All of the links are dead and I'm trying to get a hold of any of these to get bluetooth functionality
