It may be something global in my setup, because I can't access whatsapp with any of the available browsers. In sp52, the issue is in the two bits below.

"Content Security Policy: The page’s settings observed the loading of a resource at https://web.whatsapp.com/serviceworker.js (“worker-src 'none'”). A CSP report is being sent.  (unknown)

The first was quickly obsoleted in favour of Google's  one, in fact WV is the sole in-browser CDM used today in desktop browsers to decrypt DRM content...

Edge has PlayReady CDM in addition to Widevine CDM.

I mean, come on, how can you ever program something proper if your booleans are as fluid as genders in 2022.

FYI,

For those of you that use  uBlock-for-firefox-legacy and have the built in list "Malicious URL Blocklist" checked.

Since today, updating that list failed here.

The maintainer of the list changed the URL's...

https://gitlab.com/malware-filter/urlhaus-filter#url-based

I had to manually add the new URL under "Custom":

https://malware-filter.gitlab.io/urlhaus-filter/urlhaus-filter-online.txt

See also:

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/issues/332

Also, the maintainer of uBlock-for-firefox-legacy (JustOff) is inactive since Feb. 18...

[Edit]

For browsing GitHub and GitLab you need the extension GitHub/GitLab Web Components Polyfill.

I've read that JustOff is Ukrainian, and so would have bigger issues than maintaining browser add-ons to deal with these days. One hopes he is well and safe....

As you probably know already, upstream (MCP) harbour an ideological aversion for EME (Encrypted Media Extensions, used in the context of in-browser DRM), as such official Pale Moon never supported it!

You know, in theory I share MCP's "ideological aversion" to DRM, but I've never understood how their refusal to support it is supposed to further their presumed goal of discouraging DRM's use! Seems to me all it does is discourage the use of Pale Moon and its forks. It's not as if PM's lack of DRM support has any content provider thinking, "I'd better not DRM my content, or I'll lose all three of my PM browser users!"

So, it looks like XP users will finally have another browser supporting JavaScript's new ?? operator. Now if only we could get developers to give it a plain-English (or plain-any-language, for that matter) name.

What is it with us programmers anyway?

Not only do we have to mess around with a perfectly reasonable programming language, thus requiring constant browser updates, just to save a few keystrokes on occasion....

... we also have to make up new words just to describe what we're doing!

On 5/8/2022 at 9:01 PM, roytam1 said:

a long description is here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Operators/Nullish_coalescing_operator

of course this gives us headaches as it makes scripts not running if we don't support it.

Just to clarify, I was being curmudgeonly about "nullish," which isn't a, you know, word, at least not in the English language. It only exists in the context of Javascript programming. Don't believe me? Do a Google search!

According to MDN,

Quote

In JavaScript, a "nullish" value is the value which is either null or undefined. Nullish values are always falsy.

So in defining their non-word, they used another non-word: "falsy!"

Quote

All values are truthy unless they are defined as falsy. That is, all values are truthy except false, 0, -0, 0n, "", null, undefined, ...

I'm sorryish, but this is just stupidy.

Edit: to be fair, the terms "truthy" and "falsy" (the latter not to be confused with the actual word falsie) have been around for at least a decade. They seem to be used not only with JavaScript, but also other dynamically-typed languages like Python and, AIUI, Ruby. These languages have the Boolean values true and false but also values (such as numeric values) that evaluate to true or false when used in a Boolean context. (And "truthy" may have been a back-formation paying homage to Stephen Colbert, who coined the neologism "truthiness.") "Nullish," however, still just sounds silly....

Hopefullingly extremelyish!!!

BTW as not being a native English speaker and also not being a programmer (not worth mentioning my experiences with BASIC, Turbo Pascal and Delphi over 20 years ago or very little C, PHP and JS more recently - and HTML [where I'm relatively good at] is a markup language but not a programming language) I always asked myself what's this "nullish" stuff.
