Extreme Explorer 360 Chromium 78-86 General Discussion

FWIW, I just use the latest standard Google Chrome on Windows 10.
I used to use Firefox there, but Chrome has the big advantage that it now syncs with my installations of Thorium and Supermium on XP, which is great!
This would not of course be a configuration that anyone concerned about privacy would want to use, but it's fine for me.

@DrWho3000

If you want to use Thorium on Windows 10 that's your choice of course.
I assumed you'd already done it, but if you haven't, you need to find Thorium's User Data folder, which should be in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Thorium (I think, I don't keep it there!)
Rename it in case you have to restore it, to say 'User Data Old'.
Then find the equivalent User Data folder for 360Chrome, which again should be in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\360Chrome.
Copy and paste the whole User Data folder to where the Thorium one was, run Thorium and see what happens.
Good luck!
:)

Stuck in IE mode...I clicked on IE mode in the hamburger drop down menu, and now some of the websites I was using have disappeared.  Rebooting one of them shows a quick flash of what looks like an old IE error page...so I know I'm in that mode even after restarting 360Chrome.  And there's nothing in the hamburger menu about reverting to the original mode.  Can someone help me with this?

I too got it from time to time, but it usually happened only on those sites 360EE couldn't render with the native Chrome engine. At this point, the browser is just very old, 4 years.

What is set as the Kernel Mode in the advanced settings?
If it's on Automatic, try forcing it to Webkit mode.

Dave, don't know about other versions, in the most popular 1030 it ignores that setting at all. When the browser can't render the site properly, it tries to do it with IE mode, gets stuck.

any constructive suggestions?

Nope.  At least none that you'd want to hear.  Waka waka waka.

I've only had the IE Mode kick in on one very old XP machine that I no longer have.

But this is not my thread, so I have to assume it's also not one of my releases.

In *MY* releases, you revert from the kicked-in IE Mode and revert to WebKit from the drop-down when you click "this" icon:

Yep, but as soon as it again can't render, all gets back to IE. Had it many times in the beginning of 2023, then I moved to another browser completely.

If you want me to be perfectly honest, I AGREE WITH YOU.  I run v122.  Others run v86.  Live and let live.

I do disagree with updating twenty times per year, or whatever pace these browsers keep updating.

True.  But, um, the mark of insanity is repeating the same task and expecting a different result.  If a web site kicks in IE Mode, stop visiting that web site.  :cheerleader:

We all here agree with everyone, most of the time.:buehehe:

I think the reason is - he can't run 122. Perhaps, and most likely, the user is on XP.

I always loved how 360 was super fast, let it rest in peace.

Thorium is heavier, btw.
