If you want me to be perfectly honest, I AGREE WITH YOU.  I run v122.  Others run v86.  Live and let live.

I do disagree with updating twenty times per year, or whatever pace these browsers keep updating.

You're not far off. I'm not 4Imprint certain, but I think the current pace is every 4 weeks, which works out to 13 updates/year!

I think Web site frameworks and designers typically target whatever versions were current at least a year ago, which is why ESR releases work. I think the ESR model makes a lot more sense: a "major" update about once a year, with interim security-only fixes.

From a features standpoint, you probably need to update only once a year, making those 12 additional updates look pretty ridiculous. You may need to update more often for security fixes, but "major" security fixes are thankfully still rare. (FWIW, I'm still on Ungoogled Chromium 118 on my Win 11 work system.)

I think the reason is - he can't run 122. Perhaps, and most likely, the user is on XP.

If you're on an older OS, your choices will naturally be more limited. For one thing, it's likely you have a less powerful system; otherwise you would've thrown in the towel and moved to a newer Windows version by now.

Among Chrome forks, one of the 360EE versions, plus polyfills, is probably your best bet - but there are a lot of Web sites that just can't be polyfilled to work with Chromium 86 or 87. For those, you probably need a copy of Thorium or Supermium (whichever works best on your system) handy, and just put up with their slowness. Any "modern" browser is going to be pretty heavy, requiring more RAM, CPU, GPU, etc. than 360EE.

I'm on older OS only because I love its quality. I tried Win7, it has official drivers for my PC, yet it didn't sound as good as Vista, and why the heck Win7 is brighter?

Add.

If I need to add brightness, I have my monitor sliders to do the job.

I used 360EE up to the beginning of 2023, I liked it, now I'm not satisfied with it at all. Folks on older OS still have options, yes I agree with you, they would need to upgrade the hardware.

That number sounds WAY too low.

I doubt this list is extensive as far as "minor" versus "major" releases, but it lists TWENTY SEVEN Chrome versions for 2024 and we are only in AUGUST  --  https://google-chrome.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions

I counted THIRTY EIGHT Chrome versions for 2023.

I also doubt this list to be extensive as far as "minor" versus "major", but it lists SEVENTEEN Firefox versions for 2024 and again, it's only AUGUST  --  https://mozilla-firefox.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions

I counted THIRTY ONE Firefox versiosn for 2023.

Just a query.
Does the update to manifest v3 for extensions affect 360Chrome?
We know that it won't affect Supermium/Thorium, but that's because of steps taken by their developers.
A couple of extensions have started to malfunction on my 360Chrome, and I wondered if that was the reason.

The problems are actually on YouTube. Enhancer for YouTube 2.0.115 (the last that will work on 360Chrome at all) has now stopped working completely, it doesn't load.
I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it several times, and it makes no difference.

I'm also getting a warning about my downloader, which is the SaveFrom.net helper script, running in OrangeMonkey 1.07 (again the last one that will work in 360Chrome).
There is a red warning icon that the extension will soon no longer work, which I would expect on Google Chrome, but not on 360Chrome.
The downloader also doesn't now work on YouTube, it says it can't find any links. It does still work on other sites like Instagram and Facebook though.

I had a discussion with G.Maone on this topic.
There is some confusion about it.
According to him, the extensions MV2 will be disabled in a similar way as a malicious extension.
Directly remotely.

Edge is also immune to the changes for now.

In my opinion, because Edge has its own Microsoft Store.

I'm currently using 2.0.126 and it seems to work fine.  But I'm at work and will need to verify for 100% upon an inspection at home.

2.0.126 is the latest current version of Enhancer for YouTube.
I'm pretty sure that I tried to install it on 360Chrome and was told that it needed at least Chromium version 100.

So perhaps an un-Googled 360Chrome will not do this?

I manually updated the manifest.  I've noticed nothing "not working" so the min-ver 100 wasn't based an any "need" per se.

I don't have a certain answer either.
What's certain is only that you can't use the enterprise policy because it works from Chrome 110.

P.S.

Although it is OT consider that in Edge the enterprise policy works starting with version 123.

So I assume that there is a mismatch between Chrome users who might be affected by the MV3 change before Edge users.

Personally, in my opinion, if you ask me, et cetera, I do not believe this for one solitary second, NOT WHEN THIS IS STILL PRESENT (launched via "Classic Ungoogled" .cmd shortcut) [this is TODAY'S release of Supermium!] -

I removed/disabled Webstore from/in the pak data (with precise instructions by D.Draker), yet I still see this, too.

Ideas?
