  1. What i am looking for is your ram model and brand
  2. Try this: Uninstall each device, then perform a restart.
  3. Standby In standby, the computer slows down and uses less electrical power. Programs continue to run in the background although the computer may appears to be off. The computer "wakes up" when it detects user input. With some computers, you can press the power button to wake up the computer. Note: If your computer experiences a power outage during standby, all work that you have not saved is lost because the computer is still running in the background. Hibernation Hibernation, which reduces the start time, saves the complete state of the computer and turns off the power. When you resume from hibernation the BIOS performs the typical Power On Self Test (POST), and then reads the hibernation file, Hiberfil.sys, to restore the state of the computer. Everything that was running when you put the computer in hibernation is restored. First off, are the users part of a domain or is this a local computer, and if so are these users admins or other assigned user groups.
  4. Considering your explaination, do you see any yellow exclmation marks or red X in the device mananger.
  5. How many users have you created, and refarding limited user, it does that limits, ifyou wish them to have limited admin rights, edit their assignment to power user. You might need to be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to perform some tasks. Local Users and Groups manages users and groups of users for your computer. You can create new users and groups, add users to groups, remove users from groups, disable user and group accounts, and reset passwords. Here is some list of User Groups Administrators Members of the Administrator group have total control over the computer and everything on it. The user named Administrator is the default account within this group. The domain account of each faculty or staff member with a Windows XP computer is part of the Administrator group on his or her computer. Administrators Can: Create, modify, and access local user accounts Install new hardware and software Upgrade the operating system Back up the system and files Claim ownership of files that have become damaged Do anything a Power User can Power Users The Power User class can perform any task except for those reserved for Administrators. They are allowed to carry out functions that will not directly affect the operating system or risk security. All domain accounts are part of the Power Users group on public Windows XP computers. Power Users Can: Create local user accounts Modify user accounts which they have created Change user permissions on users, power users, and guests Install and run applications that do not affect the operating system Customize settings and resources on the Control Panel, such as Printers, Date/Time, and Power Options Do anything a User can Power Users Cannot: Access other users' data without permission Delete or modify user accounts they did not create Users Users can perform common tasks, but have little power to affect the computer outside of their own account. The Users group is the most secure environment in which to run programs, since a User cannot affect the operating system or program files. Users Can: Create, modify, and delete their own data files Run system-wide or personally installed applications Change their personal settings Install programs for their own use only Access the network Print to local or networked printers Do anything a Guest can Users Cannot: Modify system-wide settings, operating system files, or program files Affect other users' data or desktop settings Install applications that can be run by other users Add printers Configure the system for file sharing If you are trying to allow users to gain access to applications and such you would need to apply Power User, they are now allowed to make system wide changes.
  6. Explorer is the program that allows you to interact with your computer and programs. Disableing it would be insane. If you wish to have a logon screen appear prior to Explorer, you must go to Start > Settings Control Panel > User Accounts.
  7. In windows Internet Explorer, you can enable and disable playing sounds/video files in internet explorer (limited) by removing it from the check list in TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > ADVANCE Try that approach first, if it continues to play in IE, then it is on to the next step, the next step involved restting the media bar in IE so that you can slect it to play in Media Player instead of media bar.
  8. In my experience a simple Firmware upgrade to the drive or BIOS upgrade to the Mobo solve the problem
  9. vipha, i may know another means to to conduct this, please keep an eye on this post for further updates.
  10. Do you visit the site using Internet Explorer or other browers
  11. Microsoft Windows XP (all Versions) does have a flaw ready drives biggere then 128 if you do not have SP1a installed, If your orginial setup disk has in the past detected the full size of the disk it is not a matter of windows not seeing it. If you do not have Norton Partition Magic (formerly known as Power Quest) then i do recommend that you reinstall your system with the correct XP CD, if this does not solve your problem, then as a recommendation, i would get a thrid party partition software. I will further investiagte this problem and attemp to provide you with any other answer i may find.
  12. Hardware models numbers, for DVD/CD drives and current bios version
  13. So by saying you can't install these files you have recived an error message stating that. Also their are drivers and files that are compressed in cab files and that if the disk is different release then your own then the location and/or file sizes will be different. If you are recieving erros while using different CD/DVD drives or Hard Drive then consider testing your hardware as state above. Also consider testing your disk on another computer as well.
  14. The bios upgrade does not enable USB keyboard support. I would recommend getting a PS/2 keyboard unless the PS/2 port for the keyboard is damaged in some way.

  17. IF you have not done any BIOS upgrades, acording to your documentations (Manual) your board supports USB Mouse but not Keybaord, This affects you by thw following: You may and may not access the BIOS due to no support, however during windows operations it will function fine. Their is an updated bios dated on 30 Mar 2006
  18. Internet Explorer 6.5 SP1 1. On the Internet Explorer 6 Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab. 2. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache. Firefox (FIREFIX) Click Tools and select Options. Click the Privacy Icon. Click Clear across from the Cache option. Click Ok. Exit and relaunch the browser.
  19. When you do that it clears the Direct Netowrk Services cache (something like temp memory), i would also recommend clearing your internet browser(s) temp internet files and cache Have a Network is different then have internet from a service provider. Please do not be a smart-a**, it only angers techs and other who are trying to help you.
  20. The purpose for this change in my system is to ensure i have the specific software i need, any other junk prgrams that may be installed can also be running in the back group thous taking valbueable resources.
  21. Their is other related issues to AMD (yuck) and certian model or brand motherboards or other hardware related issues, which is why i am asking for the computer specs
  22. Before jumping to conclusions, please check your motherboard, if it supports USB keyboard and/or mouse you are set. But remember you need to also have your BIOS upgraded as well, some boards have updates to address USB, CPU, etc, problems or better support.
