In my professional views and opnion, i would buy a new power supply, main reason why is a capacitor holds electrical current and when it is no longer attached to the PS board, i know for a fact the other capacitors and/or resistors are dead. being if the resistors are dead, you very much risk the chance of sending more power to the mobo and componets then it was regulated at. If some god like event happens and it works, i can assure you that you can say buy to the system. Carefully inspect the curcit boards on the Hard drive, cards and mobo, do not touch them, just look at them, use a magnifiy glass as well.

My way of using both tends to use alot time but is worth the effort. First - create a new Windows Setup disk with all current updates intergrated/slipstreamed. Second - install all applications, drivers and such. Third - get any updates needed for step 2. Forth - Once completed create an updated image. (1 primary and 2 Secondary) The time imbetween recreateing a new setup disk is based on updates from the time of the current disk and software updates. As for any documents and personal files i have it seprate from my windows installation for the purpose of not loosing them to a needed format. It is backed up with RAID. Here is the setup Hard Disk 1 - 37 GB SATA (WD Raptor) Windows installation and applications (RAID 1) Hard Disk 2 - 500 GB SATA WD - Personal files Hard Disk 3 - 500 GB SATA WD - Personal files (RAID 1) Hard Disk 4 - 320 GB PATA WD - Personal files Hard Disk 5 - 320 GB PATA WD - Personal files

Building up a new computer, needs advices
Shindo_Hikaru replied to Camarade_Tux's topic in Hardware Hangout
Battle of the Brands. EVGA - Great warranty, especcally for overclocks- VIDEOCARD (Recommend Nvidia based cards) Gigabyte - Great Mobo, has secondary bios for fail safe, and good support. Sony - Plextor - DVD writers, plextor offers higher cache but expensive AMD processer really don't overclock well, recommend high end fan or water cooling Intel -- good overclock ability with out the frying, Core2 processer are new and benchmarks in testing out due the AMD (source http://www.anandtech.com - recommend this site for all hardware) Monitors - ViewSonic (maybe bit high but great), or Dell -

Some time ago their was a Mobo manufacter that made a board that had 6 USB connectors and one 10/100 lan and it had no Serial, Printer port, PS/2. This board was made around the time Canterwood chipset was released.

Technically speaking, the ageing game port needs to die along with the serail ports on the back. Which is why most gaming instruments are USB.

[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
Is their any other markings on the protective sleeve. That C70 maybe a manufacturers model or series number. The cable it self, does it have a crimp connector, which means it has 6-8 sides depending on the cable type. If it is not crimped and it looks like a solid end with a bule or black band on it, that is called a F-type connector -
All this downsizing, just install DOS 6.22 and be done with it.

First off, what caused the need for your repair and please edit your post to have smaller font. Next question is your hard disks partitioned with NTFS or FAT32.

Regarding intergrating and have a centralized ISO for network installs in a corporate and educational stand point. As i do with my Computer on the network, which each have their own legal CD/Product Key. I have one ISO that has updates up to a certian point intergrated such as Windows XP SP2 + updates up to June 30. With that i can do my network installs of my computers with little worry of downloading mass updates updates, and it being an ISO image makes it better.

[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
I have done Structured Wiring of residential and commerical building since i was 17, i recommend that all buildings and short lenght cables use RG-6 Quad Shielded test swept at 3000 MHZ. -
[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
Signal Amp will help but will go beyond the 75Ohm to about 1M ohm thus the quality will change greatly, such as image will have more white to it, colors will be lighten, and sound will be distorted abit. For the best quality and sound, run RG-6, if you must used RG-59 do it in short lenght, no longer then 1 meter. -
[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
Look at your cables, RG-6 is High end - SAT Digital, Digital signal and cable modem (internet) RG-59 is old grade mainly used for antannea RG-59 is fine when running it short like 1 meter or so but anything longer will degrade the signal and overall performance. -

[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
You are right that they both use 75 ohm Coaxial, but he differences is in the grade of cable, RG6 and RG59. Cable TV have limited channels that are digital in is own right while Sateilite signals are Digital. Sateilite companies also push for higher MHZ swept cables, at least 3GH on RG6 and Dish Network also pushes for Quad-Shielding RG6. Not all cables are created equal. -

Their is articles of HArd Drive performance with 5 SATA brands and one WD at SATA and the SATA is only 1% less and in some cases beats the SATA2 drives, i will dig up the article, bigger does not always mean faster. -
@ Sumike Any ISO of Windows bet it Win9x to vista, you must write it to the approiate Disk (CD / DVD). @ neo_matrix.rs At current, you are not the only one who is expereniceing this error, being that i visit MS technet, and it is their alot. Will investigate further and provide you with the best possiable solution.

I do belive the biggest reason is the fact that NT has NTFS and windows 9x is FAT. There are things that the NTFS file system can support other programs in the management field.
