Shindo_Hikaru replied to LordFett's topic in Hardware Hangout
I agree, but to complement that i would go ahead and add a better heatsink and fan such as thermaltake, one that wouls support faster CPU's. Also upgrade/update all hardware and software drivers/firmware. -
DSL, go wireless or your cables, can't split the singal, you would need to get to dsl lines for your configureation.

[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
OK, if you are planning to send signal from your reciver, your reciver will need to be on. If you are looping out or splitting from revicer then it needs to be one, however what ever the channel is on when the revicer is on, it will show that channel to all locations split from. If you split from LNB, you would need more then one reciver if it is supported. -
[Question] satellite cable vs TV cable ?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to grafx1's topic in Hardware Hangout
Not sure what your sat service you hve but Dishnetwork has a unique setup. It has a multi-swith that allows for multiple recivers with that can recive the signal. We have 4 HD recivers and they are all independent. I can have anyone of them one. -

OK, make sure you have the latest bios release and make sure your SATA is configured as enabled and/or is configured to be bootable (although it should automaticlly boot), in some cases such as my BIOS i have option setting for my PC IDE only SATA only IDE + SATA SATA + IDE The two but simular settings that enable both channels also sets the primary and secondary boot, also their is in some BIOS that allow you to configure your bootable device.

IE Not Respecting My Code
Shindo_Hikaru replied to gamehead200's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
I see your problem, Just so you know, IE does not support xhmtl 1.0 strict, i would recommend using XHTML 1.0 Transitional XHTML Internet Explorer's support of XHTML (the successor to the standard document markup language HTML) is incomplete, although no claim of any XHTML support was ever made. Rather, XHTML 1.0 was intentionally designed to be usable by HTML 4.0 user agents, like Internet Explorer, if certain document authoring guidelines for backward compatibility were followed. Furthermore, when accessing XHTML documents over a network, such support by non-XHTML-aware browsers is predicated on the documents being served with a MIME type of text/html. To the extent that these requirements are met, IE supports XHTML. XHTML has since matured, and it is now possible to author modular documents that cannot be rendered in a non-XHTML-aware browser like Internet Explorer. Furthermore, the use of the text/html MIME type is now deprecated in XHTML 1.0 Strict and XHTML 1.1, in favor of application/xhtml+xml. Internet Explorer does not recognize this MIME type, so instead of rendering the page, a file download prompt is presented to the user. It is possible to force IE to show application/xhtml+xml pages as either HTML or generic XML, but this workaround involves the manual editing of Windows registry [5]. By forcing XHTML to be interpreted as HTML, it also removes the advantages of using an XML parser, like well-formedness checking. Despite the advent of application/xhtml+xml, many XHTML documents on the web are still served with the text/html type in order to make XHTML documents renderable in Internet Explorer. Some consider this practice harmful as it could result in proliferation of malformatted XHTML documents [6]. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticisms_of_Internet_Explorer -

Can you add a Wales flag to the country flags please ?

Being that we are granting wishes here for flag, i would like to see Navajo Nation Flag added as well. -
Again this iss where peoples narrow prosectives lead them to conclusions in the box, when in real life all things are not always in the box, it takes more courage to see the thing outside the box then to stay in the shelter of your box. This is what it means to be open minded and see the world for what it is and what it can be instead of what you don't what to see.

Samsung Combo not detecting DVDs
Shindo_Hikaru replied to the_anomaly's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Pick a IDE Channel, Channel 0 or Channel 1, does not really matter but on your Drive their is a set of pins that can automatically set it to Master or Slave, or select it with the pins to Master or Slave. If you have your documentations that came with the drive then look at the diagram that shows setting Drive. IF you do not have them then recommend getting the drive model and paying a visit to the manufactures site. Bios automatically detects drives so you relly can't force it. Regarding cables usually Hard drives require a 80 conductor 40 pin ribbon cable and devices such as CD's can use the standard 40 conductor 40 pin ribbon cable. I have elected to use all 80 pin calbes for optimal settings. -
one-off Activation problem; can this be fixed?
Shindo_Hikaru replied to CLASYS's topic in Windows XP
ok, if it is stateing that the key is invalid here is some of the reasons. OEM key - requireds an OEM disk Retail key - requires an Retail disk Volume Licence - requires a VOL disk I have run into this problem before, My sisters friend gave her a computer but did not give her the disks tha came with it however the Product code and product id is on the case with the legit sticker, so when my sisters computer which is OEM crashed an needed a reinstall. So i used my copy of WINXP CD (VOL) and tried to use the key on the sticker it said invaid key, i called microsoft and talked to a tech who said that the key on the sticker is valid and it should work, but the tech reissued me a new key based on the product code on the sticker and i tried again but came up invalid. Then the tech asked me if my windows cd is the oem copy that came with the pc or am i useing another cd (ie. Retail, VOL). I explained the problem to him and said you must use a oem disk other wise you will continue to get the invalid key error. Which i explained againt hat the orginal owner had misplaced it but i have the key on the case from a manufactuer, and then procedded to expain that you must contact the manufactuer to obtain a new cd. So in a nut shell, OEM to OEM, VOL to VOL and Retail to Retail. -
The process of what i do it to ensure system updates are all current within an allowable amount and program updates, so i do not have to waste time for update downloads. Which would you have to restore from a image of your install that would require 30 some updates and programs that require other long list of updates or an current image of windows that has updates intergrated that only requires 6 or less. As far as RAID0 for installation disk, it is nice to have but when one of your drives dies, then it is off to the store or online to find the exact model. Although the same could be said for my own drive but in all truth, why would i need a raid0 for my installation disk, only to perhaps make my system faster for games and CAD, and such. Note here is my MOBO connectors 2 SATA 2 SATA - RAID 2 PATA 2 PATA - RAID all in all i can have 12 drives on my system. all on my motherboard, no pci/pci-e controller cards.
