i dont know wats going on with my comp, the start menu icons start looking kind of wierd...even my recycle bin is acting that way....is it possible i may have a virus or somthing?? or may it be an error i need to scan for?? every time i click an icon, that funny looking one displays...i try changing the icon back to its regional display, nothing...

So the whole issue is over a difference of 7 sec? Enjoy your 27 sec boot, even w/the long prefetch. My corporate users average over a minute. Your boot time will change over time depending on what you do to the system also, but that isn't a problem as far as I can see. so its normal then...great... thanks alot for the help!!!

so 27 is the avg boot start up time?? i thought it was 20...

i took a screen shot...takes 27 secs to boot up...could it be my hdd thats slow or somthing else??

i made a disk driver that contains ITE211 controller...my mobo came with this cd, where it gives me a choice to put drives in bootable floppy disks...as windows is setting up, it says to press f6 to install a certain drive...so i press it, with the floppy inserted of course...and the computer detects the controller...installs it...and BAM...after its done...and windows about to install...i dont see the blue screen any more!!! so for those who may have this...its about upgrading the motherboard with some certain drives...in order for some parts to work.. ps... for some reason...it takes really kind of long to load to the windows logo....do i have to change a setting to speed up the loading process or what?

i bought a new 40-pin cable for my cd/dvd rom...and bam, that black screen warning error was gone!!!! so it was the cable...thanks alot!!! so should i do the same for the HD(buy a new cable)?? cause the blue screen still pops out when i try to install xp... thanks dude

thanks dude, it worked...i didnt do "bootcfg /rebuild"...i totally forgot about the command...i can still go back and do it safelly right?? as i try to boot from windows setup cd, i keeps going back to that blue screen....which to me, its geting really annoying...is it because of 40-pin connected to the cd/dvd drives?? or somthing is still wrong with the hd?

In order for the blue screen to go away, i switched the IDE cable for the CD rom to SECONDARY IDE....leaving HDD as primary...that worked...but now, im having that black screen problem.... i successfully installed windows. its working perfect. but theres a problem... when i took the windows cd out, restarted the computer, it wouldnt loud, it would just stay black, with a white blinking underscore.... then i inserted the windows cd back, restarted, n bam, windows started running...which is really wierd..... how can fix this problem?? what should i do?

when the mobo scan devices, everything goes great, but then i get this error maybe this is the cause of the blue screen...right??

it gives me 2 options, "tab" to c the post, and "del" to run setup....i insert the xp cd, press tab, it displays my hd, 2 cd roms, n then it goes to the windows xp setup....just wen its about to install, the blue screen pops out...

I recently builded a new computer from scratch. I thought i had everything rite. but then, as i try to install windows XP. i get this error how can i fix this?? and my front panel lights arnt glowing....how do i turn them on??
