Where to find power settings in registry?
XtremeMaC replied to X-Ecutioner's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
hmm wierd let me check if it helps.... -
and furthermore it creates a nice msi file in the temp directory
-
i think its an msi install made with wise cause there are msi executables in it. so it can be /qb /qn stuff. I'm also using it.... i'll try the /q stuff later.. edit: tested and /qn works...
-
that had seemed like a registry why do u need 3 quotation marks in there anyways? (not that its going to change anything...) I haven't yet discovered that msi's work with switches even if so try putting spaces in between. like now i don't think that'll help but maybe worth it?
-
wow then u're special if u don't mind me asking what makes u special over the other 2003 server ppl is there 1000s of pc's over there or something? (not trying to be rude or anything, just wondering where and how u got it not that i'm going to get or anything (it wouldn't be much use for me anyways 2003 server?))

i was looking at my windows folder to see why i have lost another 200mb from the hdd i realized these folders in the windows root mcub1 mcub2.....3.4.5. etc i went into mcub1 to see what it was and interestingly there is a tif file staying there about 10mb. and there is an inf file. i opened the picture, didn't quite mean anything then I looked at the file name and it explained everything but not why its 10mb!. ok here's the answer name of the file iiiiis : XUPDATELONGNAMETOSEEIFTHEREWILLBEANYCONFLICTS.tif and the inf installs this pretty picture which has 2048*1536 res. now someone pls tell me this 10mb download was for another reason. bc i don't want to think that the updates are going to be like this. i mean if its a xp update long name test they could have a tif at 1kb or so. and for those who are dying to see what that cool picture looks like (ow and its not 10mb don't worry edit: picture removed

i hate it when i don't get the reply notification but hey thanks for the info... at least now i know that i cannot decrease it and it doesn't take up space....
-
i don't have the program but look for runfirst firstrun stuff like that in the registry.
-
u don't really need websites to find the usage go into dos prompt type xcopy /? it will give u the instructions. if u want to read it later or have it on a notepad file or something type xcopy /? >>xcopyhelp.txt this will create a xcopyhelp.txt file for u to look over, print etc.... xcopy normally resets the read only /hidden /system stuff so use /K to preserve the file attributes. also if u want to change the attributes on a file also in dos u can type attrib /? and see the list of commands on how to change it...

How do I figure an application's setup switch?
XtremeMaC replied to ectavares's topic in Application Installs
first u can make a search with the name of the program u're looking for if u cannot find it u then should ask... -
now that doesn't make any sense to me. u don't need 480mbit/s connection to be able to print. windows will tell u that u just plugged a high speed device into a low speed hub. but i seriously think that u will be able to print/scan whatever your printer's capabilities are on 1.1 1.0 = 1mb/s 1.1 = 12mb/s 2.0 = 480mb/s estimate (i don't remeber the exact values, but they something like this) ....

well indexing services is set to start manually unless u start it, it doesn't work... but if u want to remove it yea i'm sure jdeboeck will look into it. (if not i'll do it )
