  1. @murder I also thought of that method but how are you supposed to inform xp setup about the other files that didn't exist before? if there is abc.dl_ version 2600 in the cd and you have new 2800 version you could swap them by the makecab but as I said before If say you have a hotfix which copies new files what are u supposed to do? forgot to mention I also have a web space pretty fast and don't have bandwidth limit contact me if you need to put anything related with MSFN!
  2. try creating a command file to copy that into the required folder on run once since it runs before you logon it might work not tried it though
  3. thats probably because the unattended cd you made couldn't copy the contents of the CD properly. You probably have a scratch on the sector that snmpsnap.dll is on. 1. You can manually find that file over the internet. 2. try copying individual files from your CD which I don't think would change anything, but maybe while you were copying something might have gone wrong so try 3. or you can dl the file I put here
  4. if you don't want your system to reboot because of rpc service go to services.msc find Remote Procedure Call (RPC) go to properties. go to Recovery and change all those Restart the computer to take no action or to whatever... you may want to write a small program to work, just to tell you that RPC has caused a problem....
  5. okay the slipstream guide on http://MSFN.org/articles.php?action=show&id=38 is pretty alright and seems to be working. but When I had Xp CD without any sp1 I could integrate sp1 133MB file into the cd without going throught the batch files and manual file placements. by running this C:\XP\XP-SP1\UPDATE\UPDATE.EXE /S:C:\XP\CD-ROOT taken from tacktech.com it would copy the files overwrite neccessary stuff and thats it. So are we able to do the same thing in this rollup version? Thanks in advance...
  6. The microsoft's site says its 9MB. It says its going to dl them later is there a pack for this whole file? I've slow connection. I do want to get the whole thing at once since I dl big files at an alternate place
  7. hey instead of writing all those drive letters put .\ for example winnt.bat which the deploy creates will look like...
  8. Diskeeper has a function for this if you have diskeeper look for boot-time frag. or something like that i'm too busy I can't even look that up sorry
  9. the ones that I don't want are in the NU which is norton utilities. When I choose silent install on it, it makes a full install?? I'm assuming it doesn't have any other switches?
  10. Hi I'm trying to install norton system works 2003 standard Well I know I should be using /qn as a switch but then it installs everything on the CD. I don't want the unerase and recycle thing? Is there a tool to choose setup preferences like in office opk tools? Thanks symantec's website has some info about customizing included setup.wis file for some other symantec programs but I don't have the file neither the other programs :/ couldn't find anything on their website heLP

  12. you can clear the start-up check by going to command chkntfs /x /driveletter then the mark will be cleared...
  13. I had some errors like this #I087 Driver node not trusted, rank changed from 0x00002001 to 0x0000e001. #I023 Actual install section: [nv4]. Rank: 0x0000e001. Effective driver date: 07/28/2003. I didn't give up I've been working on it for about 1.5hours and now I GOT IT TO WORK!!!! its not digitally signed but who cares! I don't care its working it even worked in automatically find a better driver part.!!! as the attachment I'm putting the modified .inf file
  14. Hey I might have found a reason why yours didn't work I found out that the old driver is using "nvdm.inf" instead of nv4_disp.inf I thought nv4 should be it since you know geforce 4 nv 4 try nvdm.inf instead!!! gosh's method seemed to work here again check my other post if you've other problems http://board.MSFN.org/index.php?showtopic=9625
  15. haha Thanks anyways better than nothing I'll give it a try Your method totally makes sense to me. I hope its gonna work.
  16. Thanks gosh I wasn't aware of what that file was doing also thanks to you [superhumaN][dhc] exactly what I was looking for. I've tried 2 drivers seems to work. I'll try the others later.. Thanks again
  17. Hi I've managed to install some of my drivers through winnt.sif & unattended setup. Those are the ones that only have an inf file and a cat file. Now I'm trying to install my webcam, printer, geforce 4, mouse and usb2 cardbus drivers. All of them have an executable file that are being called and since they are usb devices they go through detection. Do I have to run silent on them or is there a better way to install these? I've included a list of files for my mouse driver on the attachment. The others are even more loaded. Any help appriated Thanks printer: Lexmark X83 17MB mouse: Microsoft Intelli Mouse Explorer 10MB Webcam: Logitech Notebooks Pro 36MB Video: Geforce 4 440 Go 9MB USB2 cardbus (only has an non-extractable .exe file) 427KB
  18. Hi there I just got aware of this incredible site thanks everyone that is doing something useful. Here's my question. I've a dell laptop has 64MB geforce 4 440 Go. Well I've done a unattended install with the latest dell customized go driver. No problems with that. But since they are not releasing any new drivers and Nvidia is I want to update my driver. the problem is when I install 45.23 driver is of course doesn't recognize my adapter as a supported adapter since Go is not listed in the nv4.inf. question: how can I alter the unattended install so It instead of installing Go drivers will install Nvidia 45.23 Geforce 4 440 MX driver without any hassle? Thanks
